The last 4 times I have orders a new car, the dealer had a real problem understanding why I refused the paint protection package, I did try and explain. But I guess the markup on it is huge, I think around £500 is what VW wanted.
I had a brand new VW Touareg, metallic grey,,swirl marks all over it,,sent it back to dealer+got my money back,,put it towards a Audi Q7..Far superior. These videos keep getting better+better.👍💯👍💯👍💯👍💯
Wife's new A4 was pretty crap on delivery as well, it also had unseen damage behind the bumper which I only found out about after I noticed the exhaust trim and bumper weren't sitting quite right, dealer said looks like someone had the bumper off and had destroyed the mounting points for it. That was nice to hear about a brand new car.
My missus had to take her car brand new back twice because the handbrake wasn’t engaging properly and twice we came outside to find the car had rolled off the driveway 😑
Ordered a new B9 S4 in Navarra Blue back in 2018 and asked them not to clean the car before handover. On inspection prior to signing for it, I pointed out it looked as though someone had gone crazy with a Brillo pad on all panels and would reject the car if it wasn’t put right. To be fair to the dealership, they’d sourced the car as stock from another site in their network and rectified the issue by paying the invoice for an experienced company I’d contacted to do a full correction and Gtechniq ceramic coating on the entire car along with internal protection. Would recommend not taking the dealership ‘ceramic coating’ for the reasons discussed in the video. Lovely car the RS3 as well!
From what I could see, that paint was in excellent shape given its pretty much straight from the factory. I have seen some absolute shockers in my time I tell you, including a brand spanking new Cayman GTS that needed a full wet sand and machine polish on every single panel! What concerned me the most was that black trim panel at the bottom of the door bang on 10:00 minutes. That looked like clear coat overspray to me. Which would suggest there's been a repair somewhere. I'd have loved to have seen you guys go around with a paint thickness gauge.
I purchased a new nardo grey RS3 back in 2017 with the black pack and I have to say the paint job was shocking when we got it under the lights. I think it was the Edinburgh dealer’s car washer who did the damage though. Swirls everywhere. My detailer did say that BMW & Aston Martin are the worst paint jobs from brand new though. BMW are terrible for orange peel.
Very interesting video thanks Ben for addressing this topic Picked up a brand new Audi A3 this year and the car was very dirty, even damaged. Its a shame that customers are treated this way after paying the price of a new car.
When I worked as a valeter for a Hyundai main dealership, the state of some of the brand new cars was shocking. Because they are stored for months at Tilbury, which is under an airport flight path, they get covered in jet fuel, bird shit, and moss. The dock delivery drivers also use one car to transport 3 or 4 other lads, wearing muddy boots, up/down the docks when they unload the cars, so the car they use is filthy inside and has been ragged from cold constantly. If only the new car buyers knew what we do.
Not to mention how long they were stood at the port of entry. When working for vauxhall dealer about 15 years ago all our stock ended up flooded when river burst it's banks, some were salvaged as it got to carpet level, new ecu and carpets to repair, some flooded up to windows so was scrap.
@@roberttaylor465 It is an eye-opener when you work in the motor trade and know the truth Robert isn't it mate ? I feel sorry for the people who scrimp and save to put a deposit on a new car, and think it's basically just rolled off the production line. Manufacturer warranty is there just in case, but a car should not be driven by anyone until the new buyer sits in the drivers seat really.
I'm a detailer at a jeep dealership.all new grand cherokee's & wagoneer's have piano black dash inserts that scratch up if you even look at it wrong. i have been charging them out the arse to polish scratches out of cars when customers complain.
Nice video. NEVER EVER let any main dealer wash your car or polish it. I bought a grey used AUDI and the main dealer "prepared" the car before collection causing so many swirl marks and hazing it was unreal. When the Auto glym or similar product came off after the first non contact wash all was revealed. Thanks AUDI you let a Muppet polish my car.
I reckon the stone chips on the glass were done whilst the car was on the transporter, which explains why the bumper and bonnet were untouched as they are protected. Though I’d have expected the windscreen to be covered. Weird
You’re probably right. They don’t tend to cover the windscreens as they have to be moved around a lot and the view has to be un-obscured. The back window is usually covered up though 👍🏼
I used to do PDI's on Alpinas back in the day. Any minor imperfections were addressed before the customer saw it but no major paint correction and I assume Audi would normally do the same thing. The RS3 looks mega chaps, well done.
The coating is a transport wax to protect the main elements of the car like roof, bonnet etc while the car is stored at docks and compounds. The wax is removed by the dealer after the PDI process from what I have been told.
The dealer just cleans the car bud. Nothing special about that process. The wax that drips down certain parts of the sills and side skirts comes from inside the door 👍🏼
Big difference after the clean and them Piller stickers removed. I'd be wanting a new mirror tho but I am fussy like that 😅. Overall tho that's a lovely car
Wax&Away looks a good set of lads and a good environment going to subscribe to them I think! Keep the content coming more bmw stuff and maybe some 4x4 stuff? Love it round west Yorkshire
Mercedes washed the car once after a service, looked across the car park and never seen so many swirl marks in the paint. The service manager couldn't believe it either😂😭 They must use sandpaper as a wash mitt🙃
Ha ha ha ha. I've just shit my pants with your life hack, the music then your cheesy face in the picture. Oh my days after 5 days of covid that made my day
Just so you know..the glass in all new vag products is weaker than the predecessors..why I don't know but it is. Mk8 golf has reported problems with glass chipping also
Great video, really like the Daytona grey too. I’ll be intrigued to know when my RS3 hatchback vorsprung is delivered sometime in 2022, will be in as good nick as yours… from past experience I say not!
The Colour is growing on me, I wanted a blue or red B7 RS4 but ended up with phantom black avant and I quite like the fact that people hear it and do a double take, I imagine it will be the same in the RS3 with a subtle colour like daytona grey.
Makes me laugh when people think new cars get handed over in the very best condition… News Flash very rarely happens.. especially with Audi in my experience
I agree, I used to work for Audi, Land Rover then Toyota, and the factory will NEVER be in detailed condition from the production line, not sure why we’d expect anything more?🤷🏼
Wouldn’t be bothered about anything other than the windscreen damage which surely you could have spotted. Windscreen replacement on a brand new expensive car I’d hate tbh. I used to work at the main dealers and i certainly wouldn’t let them do it internally tbh our techs were absolutely shite
Just got bk from nyc meself tested positive for rona day i got home 😖, nice gloss black but its a nightmere when light hits it always looks like been wiped with a brilo pad

Brand New rs3 problems allready

From experience I'd recommend avoiding the dealers offer of paint protection and just get it ceramic coated by a professional detailer.
I work for one of them and it’s truly terrible how much these protection packages cost and which idiot applies them to the car, makes me cringe
The last 4 times I have orders a new car, the dealer had a real problem understanding why I refused the paint protection package, I did try and explain. But I guess the markup on it is huge, I think around £500 is what VW wanted.
Considering the price of these cars the paint finish should be excellent.
Hah. Have you seen the standard of tesla paint brand new
More than excellent, seen cars comes out with the worst swirls in the paint, because dealers be cleaning 60 cars with the same cloth
@@Cripinub1 No doubt the problem is not the factory but mostly the dealer, everywhere dealers have the most cheap methods of washing a car!

Best one you've done Solo, Ben. Good to see Lee enjoying his Holidays...again.
Thanks for the content in 2021 and here's to 250,000 Subs in 2022
100% Agree Tom. Good solo Job Ben. Unlike your 'Part Timer' associate off buying houses and swanning off to NYC 🤣
Freshly detailed Daytona is one of the nicest paint you’ll see on a car. Love the new RS3, wish we got the hatches here.

I've never been lucky enough to own a brand new car and watching this video it's probably for the best. My ocd is going crazy
Lee definitely caused that stone chip ragging it up his posh driveway 😂
😂😂😂
That color looks so good, I wish my A3 was that color!. Love the humour in the videos :D
Cant believe I've wasted 13 minutes of my life watching a car get cleaned, but somehow enjoyed it... great channel lads
so true lol

That beading on the bonnet and roof is what's left from the white plastic protection

Can you even take a car away from a dealer without them doing PDI
The bonnet and roof bead because of the protective stickers they put on them. 😉
