If you guys want to keep up-to-date in real time, I've been sharing a little bit on Instagram and Facebook! Instagram instagram.com/maggietretton Facebook facebook.com/LetsTalkIBD/
It's always a good thing to be on the recovery side of a procedure. So glad everything went well and I'm excited to see how you're feeling in a few weeks. Zak always makes me smile. 😊 I hope you get some good recovery rest snuggling with your pack. Take care!
So glad you were in such great hands. Rest up and hopefully by day 3 you will be nearly back to yourself and the healing can begin. You know the drill. Take care and don't over do it.
Hope your recovery is quick and no pain! Always good info on your conditions, you are awesome! Zak you are an awesome hubby, you are always taking great care of your Maggie. I just had my right knee replaced and my hubby is also a wonderful nurse. As far as nurses, I had awesome nurses every time I have been in hospital. They seem to be a different breed of people, just like you. Please take care of yourself, take it easy, that’s an order!
I am so pleased that your operation went well. I always enjoy your videos and I look forward to updates about your recovery. Wishing you well and take care. X.
Glad you included the ride home with this video. Always eases concern! I had to go into surgery (before COVID happened), but on surgery day I was recovering (phlegmy throat, stuffed nose, both nostrils) from the flu. I did not want to cancel, so surgery proceeded. The surgery was successful. However when I awoke I felt great, oddly better than before the surgery. I never thanked the doctor, but obviously they must have suctioned out my nose and throat. So I got a 2 for 1 procedure!
Oh Maggie, I’m sorry for all,of your ailments. I admire you so much for your resilience And positive outlook. I can relate in many ways but you are younger and have such a difficult situation. It sucks to have an,ostomy and life is difficult enough already! I feel for you..
Hi Maggie! You are my 🦸♀️ hero! Thank you for making my surgeries feel doable! You are helping so many people! Love you big big hugs to you and Zak and pups 🐶🐶🐶🐶
I'm so glad to hear I'm not the only one who named their ostomy! We call mine Squirt. 😀 Hope you have a speedy recovery and that this fixes your problems.
I ended up watching these videos out of order, as that's the way they appeared on my phone, oh, well...I'm hoping your recovery goes smoothly, get lots of rest, and please know that we are all thinking positive, healing thoughts for you! Say hi to Zak, you all take care! 🧡
I’m so happy for you. Hopefully the headaches will stop now. Atleast one of us got their surgery. I was scheduled for a Abdominoperinal resection (Barbie Butt surgery) the same day you had yours but they canceled mine. Can’t stop crying about it, I’m in so much pain , nothing helps 🥺💔
Good luck , we will think of you !Zacks got this rest and heal up ! I’ve had that problem you feel better after a couple days . I had The Whole septum deal , it does improve your sinus !
I had sinus surgery/septoplasty/turbinate removal in February due to chronic sinus pain/pressure and sinus infections. Fast forward to 9 months later. I am still on twice daily nasal rinses with budesonide added in. Otherwise I will get sinus infections again. I bought a wedge pillow to help with the sinus headaches I was having as they came back 2 months post op. I am also on a nightly 25mg of amitriptyline to “dull” the nerves in my head. If you are waking up with sinus headaches, either buy a wedge pillow or sleep in a recliner. Surgery was worth it as I can smell again and breath again. Just don’t expect your sinus problems to just disappear. The worst part of the surgery (post surgery) was that I had two open Half inch incision sites on the bridge of my nose where they went in to fix my septum. Those bled very badly and there were no stitches put on them to allow them to drain and not swell. They were open for about a month post surgery.
I have to say you are so pretty without makeup (and if course with)! You have such nice skin. I had a septorhinoplasty some years ago. Partly to fix deviated septum and cosmetic. I feel for you with the sinus infections, it's awful. Hope you are feeling much better after the healing. Love from Adelaide, Australia.
I'm 8 weeks post surgery, I hope you are doing well. The only thing I didn't do pre surgery was shower/wash my hair 3 times in the 24 hours before surgery. I shower daily and wash my hair weekly, so I just made sure hair wash day was the day before my surgery. Everything went fine. Heal well.
Hope you feel better soon! My sister had this surgery and I am sure your hospitals are more modern/advanced but she had a huge bleed 3 days after when she bent down to pick up her daughter. Please be careful if you do a lot of bending! Other than that, she loved her surgery and not had any problems since then.
Glad it's all done and hopefully you'll start to feel better read soon. I love you when you've had ga, you're off your face and so amusing 😂😂, please can you tell an ignorant brit what on earth are goldfish? Xx
It's kind of wild that I've been watching you for a while and my dad just had an urostomy done for bladder cancer. This wasn't on our radar at all. My parents had to get new phones because of the 3G shutdown too. Glad that everything went well with the surgery. I'm too scared to get sinus surgery! I've been suffering for decades. ugh!
Glad procedure turned out well, and hope you recover quickly. But I don't understand why they left foam inside you. Isn't that supposed to be removed? I had my nose impacted with gauze for three days because some blood vessel in my nose wouldn't' stop bleeding, and when they removed it, there was greenish pus on the gauze. Doctor said I would have gotten infection if they had not removed it that day. Does that foam in your nose dissolve or will they remove it?
I know the be prepared idea. Years ago I went in for a CT scan. They kept me in and a month later I was released from the hospital (found a lung abscess and operated on it).
I need one of those apparatuses when my nose is drippy 🤣 You are like me I have been known to wake up during my scopes and can recall what they were doing. They are like you remember that?!?! Lol I tell my gastro doc every time make sure you give me enough happy juice, she always says, ok but we want you to keep breathing 😆 I have had 12 colonoscopies because of my IBD 😜 with my doctor I have had since 2014, she is amazing. But I had one I kicked to the curb, she never gave me enough drugs during even when I would mention to the anesthesiologist before hand & he relayed the message to her! She would say the same CC’s worth 😠 I would wake up in pain! Now with my new doctor I wake up briefly with no pain, fall right back out. 👍 This turned into a page 📄😜 anyway I am glad it went well & wish you a great recovery 🥰❤️
I kept warning them I woke up and it stopped happening, so I felt a little crazy! The scope was the first time I didn't mention it, and of course I woke up! I wonder if all the other doctors upped the juice on me when I mentioned it? I'm glad you're at a doctor now who listens and gives you what you need! I woke up at the end of my resection (breathing tube in and I think I was being stitched up). I still remember the look on the doctors face when he made eye contact with me!
@@LetsTalkIBD oh my goodness I can’t imagine it happening in a major surgery 😳 I have had both knees replaced (separate not bilateral) and I was worried but I was fine. Whewww 😂
MRS MAGGIE PLEASE REST LISTEN TO THE DOCTOR AND NURSE'S. 🙏 I'VE HAS THAT TYPE OF OPERATION BUT MORE. REST AND DON'T BEND DOWN. JUST BREATHE AND TAKE IT EASY. YOUR LUCKY BEING MARRIED TO THE BEST MAN. ZAC YOU ARE MAGGIE'S ROCK. JUST LIKE MY HUSBAND AND I. THURSDAY 14TH APRIL IS OUR 32 YEARS MARRIED. I'M 50 NOW SO WE BEEN TOGETHER SINCE 84. I LIKE YOU HAVE MULTIPLE MEDICAL PROBLEMS. LOL. XOXOXOXO PRAYING FOR YOU BOTH AND FURBABYS. XOXOXOXO LOVE FROM WANGANUI IN NEW ZEALAND 🇳🇿 NOT AUSTRALIA LOL. XOXOXOXO
Hi Maggie, I know you are on biologics and battling sinus infections. Has your doctor that manages the biologic medication ever checked your immunoglobulin G subclasses for any deficiencies? An overall low IgG level or deficient IgG subclasses like subclass 2 can result in the inability to fight off encapsulated bacterias such as the kind that hang out in the sinuses despite taking different antibiotics. Did your ENT get a culture during the surgery?
Hoping for a smooth recovery for you Maggie! I don't like nose things either I don't think lol! I'm curious how you'd compare that surgery to some of the others you've had for GI. In my experience, certain surgeons and their teams are so much more empathetic than others and seem to understand the pain potential/levels whereas others with much higher pain inducing procedures act like it's nothing. Am I making any sense?
Maggie my friend has an iliostomy ( not sure of spelling ) and she is in the process of designing and patening a belt with pouch and some nicer undies than are currently available. I be happy to pass your details if you would like to be a trial customer. We live in New Zealand but we have post!!! My Friend has dry similar illness to you as to I minus the bag so far !
I was told that if it happens, open my mouth to take the pressure away from my sinuses. I sneezed once and lived to tell the tale, so that's good news! 🤣
