For those more expensive Blue Foxes, I always opt to use the single hooks (the smaller blue foxes are treble only, but you can certainly cut those smaller trebles and replace them with your own single hooks)...they won't snag as easily and the single hook will actually give you a better hookset while being less damaging to the fish, which is a plus if you intend on releasing it. Great tips on the DIY spinners...definitely much more cost effective.
Another one of your many talents! Wow, I learned so much here. I have heard about all this, but it doesn't compare to seeing it done. Thank you for sharing all your know how on this!
this inspired me to start making my own spinners. i have some beads that i bought from walmart for carolina rigs that i can turn and use for spinners now! thank you for this video!
Great tips. I've caught many brookies using a yellow-colored Rooster tail with small red worms on the hooks. I'll turn a rotten log over to find the red worms. I've caught many blue gills using a # 10 snelled hook, a tiny lead split shot, a bamboo pencil bobber, 6 pound test line, wax worms and a bamboo cane pole. You can raise your own wax worms by putting any left over wax worms in a empty fish aquarium with saw dust, crushed corn flakes and a bit of honey. The wax worms will turn into moths that will breed to make more wax worms.
I've bought several lures just because of the way they looked.. some of them are beautiful and neat looking and I haven't opened or used a few of them haha.. I was hesitant one day to use this nice swimbait I got for Christmas (It was $23) and of course on my second cast it got snagged on some under water irrigation pipes in the lake.. So, I jumped in with my needle nose pliers and went to swimming and got it back lmao haven't used it since.
Lol, I know the feeling. Lures are designed to attract the fisherman, and not the fish. That is how they make their money. Fish don't buy lures, people do. Think about that.
Very nice job and great video! I agree on your selection of best lures. I know you are trying to make low-cost and practically no-cost spinners but if you value your time, get a Twistech. You'll be happy you did. A Twistech wire bender tool is only $99. A Twistech changes the hobby. You can make many many more spinners in the same amount of time. I made my first spinner by hand in 1972. I am so sorry I waited until 2020 to buy my first Twistech wire bender. I am so glad I did.
Your very organized person. I admire that. I'm going to make my own spinners too. Great useful video. I go fishing on bike down by river here in spring. There's a place the Fishing people all hang. I can even sell them a few spinners. Where do you get the spinner piece , the large piece that spins. I really want to make some. Walmart has the hooks too right
I assume that you use the snap swivels to attach the spinners to your line/leader, right? I have seen people recommend this. But, Mepp’s, for example, says on their website to tie directly onto the lure. Any thoughts on what might be better?
I never start a session fishing with a spinner cos I like to be more engaged with the lure, twitching and jigging, etc. However I lost count a long time ago the amount of times the fish wouldn't take anything else but a spinner.
What's different videos on making lures he's got the right idea but a with just one different set of pliers you can make quality factory looking lures or better
Where did you get those teardrop shaped bodies like on the orange spinner? I want to make Panther martin knockoffs but I cant find those bodies anywhere.
Good looking spinners. I love the online blades. Technically I am not sure the purpose of a bead on top of the online blade. Matter of fact I don't ever want anything on top of the blade that might impact the spin. It does create some resistance. But otherwise love the paint job and colors you have. The pink 👍👍
The beads on top actually make them spin better because it forces the blade to remain further out from the body, thus better spin. I've done both versions, and the top beads work flawlessly.
@@EKEACRES That's true, if the blade touches the top where the wraps are under the eye it may well stop spinning. I noticed it with some mepps they would stop spinning but start spinning again when I sped up the retrieve but sometimes I want to retrieve slowly.
So you bought a lure for $10 didn't want to lose it so never used it and are still down $10?? 😂😂😂 jokes aside thanks for the video I really appreciate it I'm defo making my own from now on!!
Survival is a calories game. Fishing uses more than it puts back. Even the best fishing celebrities get skunked. Trapping fish and land animals far more productive plus it frees you up for other important tasks water gathering shelter building etc. Short term it would work but long term it won't.
I watch this over and over. One of the best spinner bait video's out there

I did that on my first try when I started and the day I tested it I caught 4 nice bass on it
I have watched a few videos on this. You are great, and you explain it so well. Thank you
Thanks, and you're welc9me.
Any links? Where do you buy all your bodies and or kits?
Thanks for the video. I'm gonna give a try, thanks! Recently started trout fishing in NY and can't get enough of it. I will keep you posted
That is Great. I plan on Trout Fishing here in NY after the new year. I Trout fished last winter too.

Thank you so much you probably just saved me 40 bucks I was about to drop 50 something dollars on a bunch of beads and everything to make my spinners.
You're welcome my friend.
I like your confidence. Keep on.
I’m in NY also! That’s cool.
fantastic I have a new hobby now lol . thanks

I use swivels regardless of lure.
@@EKEACRES Huh, interesting. Thanks!
Easier to switch over, less time out of the water. 2 years late but whatever lol@@airmobiledivision7759
Have you tried using round nose jewlers pliers for the tie on loop it gives a more circular hole but either way works. Nice job in the video👍
Yes, I have those, I just can't find them.
Great video Kevin.
Thanks 👍
That Mepps Aglia Long lure is a dam fine fish catcher.
It sure is.
What's the heaviest spinner-weight you're fishing in a (not too deep) lake? Greetings from Germany

Thanks, and you're welcome.
Great video, just subbed 👍. What part of NY are you, just general location of course. I'm from NY also.

Ebay
Donde puedo conseguir el material para ser spinner
Awesome video. Where can I order the parts kit?
Search spinner kit on Ebay.
Hi, I`m from Romania, can you give me the link with all things ? ( web-site where are you buy it)

Is that kit sold as a lure making kit at walmart or is it arts and crafts?
Arts & Crafts in walmart.
The problem is how do you get the feather tail on?
You use a fly tying vice.
thanks
You're welcome.

You didn't mention where you got all the parts and materials to build these.
Walmart & Ebay
Use braid. I spin with lures very rarely loose one.
Braid is overkill.
Neat!
Where did you get the spinner bodies?
Ebay.
What is the name of the kit from Walmart
Ebay has them
I’m thinking he doesn’t check UA-cam often
👍
AINT YOU JUST PEACHY
You’re still out $10 for not using that lure. 😂
If you are relying on just fishing. You are dead. Calories put out to calories
Not True.

The wire is meant to be that long so you can send it through the body and bend the tag end over so you body doesn't slip.
