Thanks for Such Honest Video and Honest Review, No One wants to share this Side of Kashmir in their Vlogs and this is the Main Reason I haven't been travelled to Kashmir Since I am Travelling from last 11 Years, There is Pure Monopoly of locals and Taxi Union and Pony Owners Which must be Stopped.
Thanks for the glipmse of Gilmarg and Gondola the way it is. Two questions:
1. how far is the gondola entry point from the car parking?
2. Is there any scam for car paking as well? I mean will the agents ask you to park your vehicle way before, when it can go closer to gondola entry point?

I never said I have zero tolerance for animal abuse because I still consume meat. It's a choice that I make without labeling anything. I said that I do not like riding animals :). with time I might even stop consuming meat but that's something I want to feel on my own and not being forced by someone.

Even we were irritated they really keep on asking for money. Then cant go anywhere in our own cab .have to get down have to take another taxi or a pony.we went through club mahindra houseboat otherwise its difficult.but enjoyed our kashmir trip.

Government should Issue some guidelines for this behaviour.
No one would like to go to a pkace where such cheap things are happening.

When you are traveling you need to keep in mind one thing.

Gulmarg me sach me aisa hi loot macha hai especially for pony ride and guide or dono ka koi matlab nhi tha, you can walk up their jaha se phase 1 k liye gandola milta hai the distance is 1-1.5 km, it may be exhaustive for person with low Hb because of height. Or guide ka toh sach me koi matlab nhi hai phase 2 pe tracking k liye may be le sakte hai

Hi Priyanka, nice vlog, but a few things I'd like to point out to you regarding the tourist harassment in Kashmir etc...I'm from South Africa and I have visited India many times and I got the same harassment in India that you got in Kashmir, so no difference..As a vlogger and a public figure and above all you are showcasing these beautiful places to us, you must be so used to these type of things and also, please understand like in your India, these guys are also trying to survive and make a living to feed their families so I do understand your frustration but you choose to show us these places so please don't talk negative about Kashmir as I when I visited India, Mumbai and wanted to visit the Elephanta Caves, there's 1 price for locals which was very low and 1 price for tourists which was very high, although I'm Indian and my forefathers are from India, I thought that this was a total rip off!!!..The one that I do totally agree with you is that the LOOT which must be stopped in all places of visit. Its all about survival though....Hope my comments made sense and not to offend you or anyone...Great vlog!!!

Kashmir trip is not for poor. My driver said it's not Kashmir it's Cash-more.
The localites are heatless. Everywhere they have made sure that you have to leave your vehicle and take a different cab or pony or sledge. All distances are exaggerated and made to sound many kms. Make an excuse saying you have medical issue and not sit on the pony. If you fall I'm sure they will send you to hospital with your valuables.

I loved the beautiful places of Kashmiri and met some amazing people. But I also faced tourist harassment and big time LOOT. This despite having Kashmiri friends. I totally agree with you on this, as one of our days was so terrible, we were cheated big time. We are avid traveller but don't record things so can't share it. But it was horrible to say the least.
I can feel what you are trying to say :) . Yet! I do not have any complains about the beauty of this place.

@@DesiGirlTraveller Actually there was one info. @ 7.10 mint which created confusion. The cable-carwala telling Phase-II will be reopening from 1st April onwards. So, either one (travel month or re-open month) has to be wrong. Anyway, sorry for this trouble. Thank you
Do you face challenges in getting accommodation? In many tourist spots, Hoteles are not allowing Solo Travelers. How do you manage in such a scenario? I have bitter experience in Puri.
I have mentioned about it in the places I have faced this problem. However, this trip was planned by a travel agency. So I didn't have to face any problem in terms of logistics

We recently had been to kasmir on 1/5/2024 and noticed lot of looting on the name of transport....pl pl be aware...they charge a hell for pony ride and other transport means

Heyyy! No doubt Kashmir is Beautiful! I was lucky enough to take my parents for a few days to “paradise or india” and they loved it. Even though they couldn’t walk a lot, we tried seeing what we could.
It is annoying that these vendors are always in your face but the harsh truth is that that is literally how they earn their money.
But let me tell you, there is more to this.
We had a great experience on our trip and on our way to airport, they do a “screening” before you enter. And to our shock, three guys just came and took out all our bags and walked to some scanning machine, checked and them dumped our bags into the cab. Then they ask for money “for underprivileged kids”. That experience ruined the whole trip for us coz our bags and all were handled without our permission! And that’s NOT done.

Kashmir has lovely places to see, but some local guides can be tricky. They charge a lot, like 2.5 to 3k for just 4-5 km. It's not fair because everyone, from drivers to guides and shop owners, is involved in this money-making scheme. Unfortunately, Kashmir isn't so friendly to people on a tight budget, as locals are more interested in taking your money than helping out. Additionally, during a shikara ride, when I questioned a local guide about boat safety and will he save us if uncertainty happens, he casually remarked that if the boat got unbalanced, God would save us. This response raised concerns, highlighting the potential risks and lack of assurance in case of an emergency.
Be careful picking up a guide or driver, as many of them may focus on taking extra money from you by pretending it's for different activities. They all are part of a scam, so be cautious.

I always have this notion that natives of countries like this, or even people who aren't born or live there, but are of their ethnic background and speak the language, are immune to this sort of stuff, but this just goes to show that ANYONE can be a target.
It’s just been a week that we came back from Kashmir trip and we had faced the same thing there…continuous harassment and pressure for ponny rides at all places in Kashmir. Although Kashmir is beautiful but this side of it just weakens the entire experience.

Hey Priyanka you are right somewhere but if its the matter of livelihood tourist must bear all this as its the part of traveling end of the day but looting and cheating tourist is not acceptable at all not only in Kashmir but every where so its definitely upto travelers how to manage under such circumstances your patience and way to speak with such people is so so appreciable ❤
You are wrong. It is not only upto the travellers to manage these looters but it is also the responsibility of the local people to make sure that they should not cheat and loot the tourists at every point.

I was there recently and had the same experience. It was not just hassling the customer, but also active cheating at every point. Each tourist place we face some amount of it, but never to this extent. We had to be careful at each and every step of our trip. Even some of the locals said that this way tourist will stop coming.
