This is one of your best videos

Loved it, thanks for posting this. Would be great to see similar ones for other great Judokas, highlighting other strong areas of their games that we don't often see due to them having some overwhelming signature moves, etc.

this is great content. By the way, I saw this video of Jimmy Pedro rolling with Marcelo Garcia. He starts the same too, turtling and letting Marcelo work on him.

You can tell he is a judo guy, his Ne Waza is very Judo.

And here's a little problem? What kind of judo? Do you mean kosen? Or kudokan, however?

@@Reformowany-n1p both are kodokan rulesets, kosen is just less popular.

@@cahallo5964 Kosen is primarily a ground game, something like bjj for which he was definitely an inspiration.

@@Reformowany-n1p No, kosen is not older than bjj they are roughly contemporary.
Judo just trained more newaza at the time when it got to Brazil and the Gracies were bad at stand up so they hyperfocused on the ground. I also know what Kosen is you are just making wrong assumptions.

@@cahallo5964 Unfortunately, I will not agree with your opinion. Kosen is much older than bjj! The kosen schools started holding judo competitions in 1898!!
The rules of a kosen judo match were mainly the ones codified by the Dai Nippon Butokukai and Kodokan school prior to 1925 changes.
You can also find some documentaries on kosen judo on UA-cam or other sources, it is also funny that bjj can only really be talked about since Carlson Gracie.
Let me guess? Are you Brazilian?

So, in other words, he was amazing at ne-waza! Very impressive and very "Judo". Thanks for the video.

I remember reading in a book that Inoue did randori with one of the Gracies at the Budokwai in London, but did not elaborate on what happened

@@danielrathbun8380 no, I'm not, but finding out what book that was is going to bother the hell out of me. It was some dude's memoir of training at the Budokwai then going to the Kodokan, and I can't remember the name or the author.

Serious choke defense at 6:06 - pushing the lapel away. Kosei’s level is higher by far, but it’s nice to see him adhering to good fundamentals.

I feel like an Olympian level judo player on top of someone makes playing deep half pretty risky because of the top pressure they give is insane . I’ve done Newaza with Olympians and they feel heavier than the 220lb brown belts in BJJ .
