@@SAWDUSTLUGNUTSsounds like the belts weren't going on correctly either. I would definitely check the pulleys & tensioner since it chucked the 1st 1. Unless it was worn out & u can easily see it.
Also if those temporary belts were fitting in the grooves & same length it should of stayed unless tensioner worn or pulley not operating as they should.
Just mentioning so u don't get stranded again. All that dirt could make a bearing gritty very easily.

those arches were cool in the 1820s .today they serve as nothing. keep large tracks of land safe from poachers. timber thieves ect ect. a better way to keep them out. is sink 10 inch i beams weld 4 inch pipe gates, or a rolling gate. install a beam across put a solar panel on top. a protected battery up high. motion detectors flood lights aiming in and out of the gate area. cameras, then sink in concrete i beams every 10 feet going down the property line. weld a mid Hight steal bar. its only to stop trucks and bikers. then dig a ditch 4 feet from the fence line. then plant back, thorn bushes. the fancy wood arch gate is only good for giving the tax man a reason to charge more taxes, did you know the day you put up a gate or arch, the tax term for the property changes. i think it goes, ( track of land ) lot of land , working estate , to working ranch ,
each term, raises the owners property taxes. goog job, seems everyone is watching Yellowstone hahaha
