Greetings from blighty Martin. I've lived all my life in Kent, some way to the east of Southampton! I'm an avid all grain brewer and love the channel. Good to see a brief sojourn back to your roots! As for the Saints, I'm old enough to remember Mick Channon!
This video is great. It shows us how much work it goes into making the videos that we all enjoy so much. Just really top notch and thanks again for posting.
According to the bcjp, you should have add lactose or another sweetener after fermentation, before botteling or kegging. That s how you will get the sweet taste. This is homebrew, of course you are free to brew however you like. I am critisizing because you are using bjcp as a guideline. Good beer anyhow 🍻
@@jeremymcclure6225 That would be nice too! Hell, he should also do Lagunitas Waldos' Special Triple Ale. Basically, I'd love to see what he could do with these amazing, highly sought-out beers (some of which are hard to find).
Love it Martin, inspirational once again to see the inner works of HBC HQ. I'll be borrowing a few of your ideas for my own brew room. Also, can HBC start selling those XL whisks via the Merch store? I so want one for when I'm mashing.
First off love your videos and nice to see some of the behind scenes! I just have couple quick questions regarding your water when you brew. Do you make water adjustments to every beer you make? If so would you share what water profile you are adjusting to for each beer?
I typically just balance for a neutral profile which for me is 2g gypsum, 3g Epsom salt, 5G calcium chloride. Then lactic acid as needed for 5.2 mash pH.
Hey Martin love your videos! I recall you used to have a ss brew tech brew bucket fermenter? Did you have problems with the sampling port seals leaking when you moved the tracking arm? I just got one and had a bad first bottling day with the seals leaking.
Hello Martin! Greetings from Chile. I just saw your Milk Stout video and I wanted to know, which is the best alternative to the yeast you used there (Ringwood Ale (Wyeast Labs #1187)) ? I couldnt find it here, so maybe California ale yeast may work? Thanks!
Arsenal fan. Hope the Saints lost but glad you made it St. Mary's :) Love the series, too. Inspired many brew days during the pandemic (schwarz, witbier, bier de garde, maiboch, specifically).
Very good ,will have a crack at this one and try it on the beer engine. It's that Southern accent again. Last time seeing the Saints live was Alan Balls last game. Think he was last player to stop playing from the 66 world cup team.
@@TheHomebrewChallenge Crikey just looked it up October 1982 and he died in 2007, only 62 shame. I'll send some footage once I've got the ale on the engine.
Awesome, really awesome mate. Living the dream. If there would(could) be just sitting 10 mates around your diner table to properly celebrate your brewing journey! F..ing corona. Keep the incredible content up! Cheers from a fellow German Home Brewer! :-) Edit: so far 1 Home Brewer too drunk to hit the Like button!
Southhamp supporter ? LOL Does it that mean youre also unhappy about the SL ? LOL Thank you for this cool BTS video...you do this every week...and thus inspire me to up my game in my video posting consistency :)
Love the production value and the filming!
Great to see how its all put together
Thanks!

Now there was a player! That was a little before my time, back when the Saints were actually quite good.

Thank you!
Always fun to see the process and gadgets that people use!! Thanks for sharing Martin!! 👍🍻
Almost every time I watch your video I have this thought '''I'd love to brew this style ''
Even those smoky beers? :)
@@TheHomebrewChallenge I love rauchbier, so I think you could probably hone it in and acquire the taste for it.
Nice behind scenes video. Now Saints get one more supporter from Brazil. Go Saints go!!
Awesome! Send us some players! 🇧🇷
Very much enjoyed this video Martin.... nice touch.
Appreciate the behind the scenes, very interesting!
Nice to see your place for brewing ! Very nice
As someone who geeks out on production I really appreciated this video! 📹
Your turn 😀
@@TheHomebrewChallenge challenge accepted!
I'm totally brewing this one! And I'm wicked excited for the upcoming smoky beer, those are near and dear to my heart

Lol spent my first 15 years as a policeman in Southampton! Shirley to be precise. Now work pompey and homebrew in Fareham. Great show mate.
Very cool. I’d imagine closing time in Shirley would keep you quite busy 😀
I'm from Shirley!
CELTIC!
Love the behind the scenes!!
alot of time and planning goes into these videos, cool seeing it all around. thanks for a look on the "other side"! Lovely beer too.
Thank you!
I did one of these with my homebrew group as a group brew. I lost all but 1.5 pints due to keg leaking all over my kegerator. It was a good pint too!
😭 spilt beer
@@TheHomebrewChallenge ugh it was awful to see 4.5 gallons at the bottom of my kegerator!
Loved seeing the behind the scenes. Would love to know the camera models you're using and the program you are editing with.
My main camera is a Sony a7S iii supported by a couple of GH5 cameras. I like these as they can all record in 4K 60fps. I edit in Final Cut Pro.
The ultimate homebrew challenge: homebrew Utopias. Can it be done? (I'm sure everyone will settle for a rendition of Utopias)
Or Worldwide Stout

LOL.. The Homebrew Challenge branded whisk.. bring it on!
Was a very entertaining video. I enjoy see behind the scenes. Congrats for great work.
Thanks!
I do have a question about the RV filter you are using. First off, which filter is it? Second when done with it. How do you store it?

All the cameras show your hose going into the top of the mash tun is kinked! LOL

Oh that's unfortunate. At one point I had three of those buckets. No issues with the racking arm leaking.
What a 'feel good' video :)
Cheers, from a Flamengo fanatic here in Brazil.
I found a Southampton shirt the other day that my mate in England ( Jason Dodd's) dad gave me when I left England to come to Australia .
Jason Dodd.. scorer directly from a corner against Pompey.. legend!
Mad that you're from just a city over from where I reside!
Not Portsmouth? Tell me it’s not Portsmouth? 😆
@@TheHomebrewChallenge I can neither confirm or deny. :D But I don't follow the footie, prefer rugby so we can still be friends! Haha!

Yes Ringwood Ale is a non traditional choice. The yeast isn’t super important with this beer so go with what’s available.
‘Devils’ as in ManU? That’s my team, how can we not talk about them?! Hehehehe, either way, perfect video as always!
Seems plenty of talk about them today :)
I never realised you were from Southampton and i've seen every video, I'm from a small village near Christchurch.
Cool! I'm from the other side of the New Forest from you - Dibden Purlieu.
Come on Saints! I loved Mat le Tis!
He gets the ball and he takes the piss.. :D

Long ago on eBay.
Got my 2nd Moderna on Friday, 4/16...so I'll be available (after the 26th )as a stand-in taster, should Lauren need a night off 😉
