I had so many cars where the rear package decks rotted out. Sometimes it was the window seal but a lot of time it was simply condensation on the inside of the glass running down over MANY years. my record was 4 6x9 three way speakers on the rear deck , of course I think my hearing loss today is attributed to that . I suggest trying to push the speaker mounts up from underneath the entire rear shelf and through the cardboard you created , not between the cardboard and the deck or it will be lumpy. keep up the great work , restorations are one day at a time

I ended up not using the spacers and it’s been great so far!
@@austindowney7142 Ah, I wasn't sure if they were spacers or part of the mounting hardware. perfect, so the speakers are flush to the deck.
