      Oh don't mind "am he's a wolf in a sheep cloth hahahahaha (just a joke)... He's a Danquah associate hahahaha. Is he not the one who said Nkrumah never won any election in Ghana?.. He figure say apparatchiks like us have forgotten. Unless he clears himself from that sin, he shall not be considered a born again analyst. lol.
      Again, he and his fellas hold the few that Nkrumah was innately a dictator but lo and behold as this 'acceptable' history unfold, it is clear that Nkrumah optionally did what he did on good motive (backed by massive endorsement from close to 96% of Ghanaian citizens). Anyways, Mr. Paul Adom-Otchere is a professional in the game of analysis except that he can skew stuff to favor his political lineage.

    Every child from the secondary school level should be taught Ghana's political history from varied sources. This will encourage a critical appraisal of history and why we are here now. For those of us growing up in this era, Ghana's hardships begun only a few years after independence. Ghana had become a one party state and dwindled resources had made living conditions much harder. Searches for contraband goods in houses, mandatory joining of Young Pioneers etc. The coup was inevitable. We are not in the same situation today.

    He was a great man but I became mad with him in 1962 for not dealing with some of his regional commissions. In 1962,there was heavy rainfall which destroyed many historic buildings in Cape Coast. The regional commissioner at the time was called Kobina Hagan. This man has no soul. I hope his ghost is still suffering. Nkurumah visited Cape Coast and promised to rebuild the town and restored the buildings. He asked the parliament for money and it was approved. The person put in charged of the money was Kobina Hagan Instead of using the money to build better homes, he buil aluminum houses for the people who lost their houses. The houses, during hot seasons inside is like oven. People complained to him. Instead of putting him in prison, he transferred him to the eastern region as the new regional commissioner.

      @Kelugu You clearly we're not born then. Nkrumah became a dictator, and filled all our prisons with his political enemies,under the Preventive Detention Act. He turned free independent Ghana into a communist-style police state, where event speaking about the President could end you in jail without trial. After persecuting his own ministers, Ghana went broke in 1963, and there were shortages of essential commodities countrywide. The citizens were disappointed in Nkrumah's despotic slide, and imposition of a one part state, declaring himself as president for life. There are UA-cam videos of the immediate aftermath of Nkrumah's overthrow, showing ecstatic scenes of countrywide jubilation. Know your history, please.

    Kwame Nkrumah was never safe,
    In his book "Dark days in Ghana" , he recounts the coup days and more , he said the UGCC never forgave him for breaking off to form his more radical party, they came against him personally and his party too, on the other hand, the colonisers were also coming against him through the US's CIA and his enemies within.
    A total of six assassination attempts on his life, not just him, he mentions how the CIA killed other promising or radical African politicians who they perceived as a threat to their imperialism and neo colonialism.
    Nkrumah's pan Africanism was a more threat to the colonizers so they collaborated with men within to kill him.
    It's the major reason Nkrumah resorted to making "dictator" laws.
    Nkrumah loved Ghana and we all see the works he started, he loved Africa as a whole too. Nkrumah was never the bad guy..
    The only thing I think was over the bar was the flag change.

    • @NkrumahTure
      @NkrumahTure 2 роки тому +1

      What's remarkable is the high level of development that took place under his leadership while Ghana was under seige from it's enemies. The CPP created a system imperialism could not penetrate nor manipulate. Nkrumah understood the dangers of neo-colonialism and coup d'etat. He explained them clearly in his analysis of class struggle (Class Struggle In Africa). When Africa is free all African's everywhere are free. Without interference we all could've been free decades ago. But the pursuit of liberation and independence is not over.

    It's refreshing to learn from Paul the CIAs complicity in Nkrumah's overthrow. Did the poor state of the economy play a role? Respected economist like Tony Killick believe it did. Be that as it may we should be guided by the fact that unhappiness in the population gives coup plotters a good excuse to interrupt constitutional rule. No need to go on a crusade. Fix the people's unhappiness and spare us a possible coup detat.
    Point of correction we didn't havew 10 regions then

    • @NkrumahTure
      @NkrumahTure 2 роки тому +2

      Ghana was working itself out of the "economic squeeze" placed on it by western nations Ghana traded it's cocoa with. The U.S. deliberately held back tons of it from the marketplace by building an up a surplus which meant Ghana's quota of the crop sat on its docks unable to be sold and shipped to it's trading partners. That lowered the quota and the prices per ton of it as well. With approval of the Parliament, Ghana started distributing cocoa to additional places for trade and exported finished products that were derivatives of cocoa to offset the effects of the squeeze, and they were working their way through it before the coup happened.
      The Ghanaian economy was being transformed from a colonial raw materials to western nations type economy to an independent one. It was expected that nations outside Ghana would attempt destabilization. But it was still in transition by the time of the coup. People must remember Africa had been under colonial domination for longer than it's territories have had a degree of independence (at that time). Those states are somehow expected to develop well functioning societies in a much shorter period of time than nations that had hundreds of years to build theirs. This unrealistic expectation is placed put upon nations that choose to build societies which will place itself out the reach of foreign domination. Some aspects of socialist development need time to mature even in the face of a diametrically opposed system ran by and large by racists.
      For the CPP to accomplish what they did under those conditions could not have been easy. We can attribute Ghana's success to the desire, enthusiasm and skill of it's leadership throughout the party at that time.
      The economic destabilization ended Feb 24, 1966, after the illegal seizure of government occurred.

    Whatever ideology Nkrumah has was the benefit of the country because of the mistrust in the ppl he was working with which u red them just look at the plot n they had against him why do u think he won’t come out with such harsh laws to protect himself and Ghana well-being as a whole.
