- The Craft presents a film about Gordon Van Der Spy, “The feather mechanic”, a master fly tyer who gives us his thoughts and philosophy on the craft of fly fishing and his passion for fly tying. Shot on location at the African Waters, Makhangoa Community Camp in Lesotho a country in the highlands of Southern Africa. The film is the seminal story on the small mouth yellowish of the Bokong river. Beautifully shot by Owen Bruce, with a stunning soundtrack by Alun Richards , it will take you on a journey into the majestic mountain rivers of Lesotho, home to the incredible golden slabs of small mouth yellowfish who inhabit the crystal clear waters, always ready to eat a well presented fly.

I have recently had some unfortunate situations in my life and became very depressed and almost lost my drive and love for this sport that has brought me such happiness finding this video has moved me in a way I never thought possible it has ignited a small glow in my heart to never turn my back on the very thing that makes me feel alive I thank you for this I realize this my not have been your intent but you have given me that want and drive to push on and to cherish this lovely sport once again and I thank you
Fifteen years ago you would have had to pay to view this standard of content! I'm from London, UK and fish for barbel regularly. I must say that your yellowish are stunning as is the surroundings.
What a great and inspiring video! I haven’t had tied flies for ages due to life throwing me a hell of a lot of curve balls these last two years. Long stort short…I recently forced myself to sit behind my vice and tie. A few days later I landed my personal best searun brown trout (the fish in my profile pic) on a fly I tied myself. Now all I want to do it sit and tie flies!
