I think General Becker's idea worked well in using captured armour and modifying them to suit the different sectors of war. 💫The light panzers were easy to transport 🚚and had firepower, with their support, almost equal to the standard panzer division in the latter part of the war.
In the clip, engineers did a good job - in no time the ramp was up and the vehicles loaded on - "Many hands make light work".🖐

Everyone thinks the Germans had a lot of motorized vehicles. Not true, the infantry had to walk, and horses were used to haul artillery. Germans used captured guns and tanks from Czechoslovakia,France, and Poland. Germans had no raw materials.

After Defeating France in 1940, The Germans took over A Buttload of French and British Armor left behind; They would do the same with Captured Soviet and even US Vehicles; Germany just couldn't make enough Mechanized Equipment to serve all of Their Fronts; At The End of the War, They were truly Scraping the Bottom of the Barrel.

I read that two German divisions were fully equipped with lorries and cars captured from the British in 1940. One autobiography said that a German unit was using some British civilian vehicles in Russia in, I believe 1944. One British unit captured and put back into use at least one British lorry lost in 1940.

I would not be surprised if there were French civilian cars found in the area of the Stalingrad Pocket either.

A Canadian built Ford Truck, sent to 8th army in North Africa was captured by the Italians. They sent it to their army in Russia where it was captured by the Red Army. It was then captured by the Germans who used it unit the Russians recaptured and kept possession of it. It is currently on display in Russia museum. .

First learned about this unit in Steel Division : Normandy 44. A hodgepodge of converted French halftracks for different roles, some Somuas and a few Pz.4 makes for a weird but fun combo.

I noticed that one German soldier in thre "rebuilt" 21st Panzer had a Edelweiss pinned to his field cap. That means a Jager or a Gebirgsjager was sent ro rhe 21st Panzer. I wonder how many more were possibly assigned. I'm an old hand at spotting this sort of thing. I'm not bragging, it just is. The 100th Panzer Battalion of rhe twenth first division, had two Panzer battalion, one nade up of obsolete French tanks, and 100 PZKW IV"S, of many models. Don't know if they all had been upgraded withn thicker armor, and rhe L/43 or L/48 main cannons. For a "backwater", and a rebuilt units

The officer Becker realy existed. He transformed captuted french, belgian and few dutch vehicles, mostly tanks, in a way, that they fit into german military system. A smaller part of this convered Tanks had been used as frontline fighting Tanks, but only AS second Line vehicles or at such regions, where there was lesser hard fighting. But most tanks Mr Becker converted , Had been converted into Tanks, Specialized for special purpuse, and not been needed in large Numbers. For example Tanks for repair Crews, tanks for Pionier/ engineer troops, ammunition Carriers, transport Tanks, Tanks for observers ( especially artillryobservers), fire Direktion Tanks for artilly, Radio Tanks etc.. So for such Specialized Tanks , there was No trouble for factories, producing regular German Tanks. What is the Problem? Why do you call this Video nonsens?
