I'd be honest. When I was studying history in the past, the only heroes that were focused on by our teachers are Andres Bonifacio and Dr.Jose Rizal. If not because of this movie, I wouldn't know how great Antonio Luna was. The other heroes were poorly written in our textbooks. The only way you could find their stories were by purely own research that's why I hope filmmakers would do lots of movies like this one.

Last year when I was in 7th grade. Our teacher played this movie to us, in our History Class. Our section especially some boys and girls doesn't like history class or find history boring (except for me cuz I just really love history, and also except to those who likes history hehe). But then when this movie started to play, all of us, our eyes and concentration was only focused in the movie... Everyone's in it, feels like were in the movie haha, shouting, getting scared, getting angry and more. The feeling tho... all of us, even tho we only sit there, the anger, fear, the sadness, the bravery, the courage and respect for those ancestors who protects our country, it was really so intense. Our hearts really beats fast and harder. All of us mostly leave the room with teary eyes, some even still don't stop crying even the class ended. Some of our boys is really into it, saying that if they're in that time of war and if they're in there, they'll also fight for our country, some of our girls are also in to it and saying that Philippines and Filipinos have gone through a lot of pain, we should respect and love Philippines more. Yes, I definitely agree with that, and I'm also proud of my classmates for saying that, we're one, our opinions are all the same. But even before watching that movie, I really appreciate and love my country, but after watching that movie and always reading more and more history books and researches, I even more love, respect care and appreciate for Philippines more, my beloved country. So, no matter what, I'm always proud to say that I'm a Filipino, with a brave blood running through my veins. I may be also love other countries but Philippines will always be the first one. 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭

I've watched Heneral Luna 3 times already and I still get goosebumps watching the trailers!!!! one of the best PH historical films ever ❤
Heneral Antonio Luna was one of the Filipino leaders during the 1890s who never believed that Americans came to the Philippines to liberate the Filipinos from the Spanish colonizers. He believe that Americans did not come to liberate but to conquer. He was murdered due to disagreement among his ranks on how to deal with American occupation of the Philippines, many of which were paid by Americans and Hen. Luna was one of the casualties. Since, then, USA sends its own armies to the Philippines through various agreements with the Philippine government, established different plantations and mining corporations. Philippines until now is a mere market of foreign products, source of raw materials and cheap labor power. USA actively manipulates the Filipino media and education as part of the colonization of the mind.
And fyi that man was not even in favor to the philippines to separate from mother spain until he was imprisoned in europe

My college teacher taught us Philippines history and what really happened before. Heneral Luna and Bonifacio were betrayed by their own people
It has always been that way... Regionalism, fanaticism... these things are our weaknesses as a country.
Many great Filipino Heroes were betrayed by our own brethren, and all them by the decision of the greatest snake in Philippine History, Emilio Aguinaldo. As much as he's heralded by our history books as a great leader, he is even more of a treacherous bastard behind his veil of "patriotism" and "equality". I'm a Filipino and I will always be Filipino, but I will NEVER turn a blind eye to the atrocities committed by our first "president". I would even infer that the bastard was the very model of corruption still observed today.

Fun fact when General Luna was released it became so popular in cinemas and online because of it's cinematography, writing, acting and plot that it was the entry of the Philippines for the Academy Awards in 2016 for Best Foreign Film unfortunately they didn't received the nomination but to this day the film is critically acclaimed.

This movie is solid af. I cried, literally cried when Heneral Luna ..... His love for the country was so epic. 😭 Highly recommend the movie. The actor Mr. John Arcilla played the character Heneral Luna so well, legit. Want to watch this movie again but I don't want to watch when he was.... 😭😭

Yey you finally reacted to Heneral Luna! I've been recommending this forever lol. I don't know if it's on Netflix where you are, check it if it is. We have it where we are. Hopefully you can react to Goyo as well. It is the sequel to Luna. Goyo was a young general during that time who was called the President's lackey. In Luna, you'll see him as the very passionate General whose love for our country cpuld never be diminished, and you'll see in Goyo where he had conflicting feelings within himself. Both films are so good. There should be a 3rd one, which will be about Quezon (he then became our President, years after Luna and Goyo's time) but I don't even think they were in preproduction before the pandemic happened. Still hoping it will come to fruition.

It is such a shame that Heneral Luna was not written very much in the textbooks of the Filipino students. We were blinded by some heroes that we were not able to know his contributions that much. I am thankful for the producers of this film. And the actors? Hats off, Sir! This is one my favorite movie which never fails to make me cry.
Heneral Luna is the first movie of the trilogy of Artikulo Uno Productions. The story of the brave general who fought the americans and the mystery and intrigue of his death. Some historians says that its our 1st president who is the mastermind of his cruel death.
The 2nd movie of the trilogy is GOYO: The Boy General. The story of the youngest general in the Philippine military and history.
Rumors and movie fanatics suggests that the 3rd movie is QUEZON. He was the 2nd president of the Philippines during the american occupation. At the ending of GOYO, the final scene showed the young Quezon helping for a political campaign. Thats how they came up with the theory of the final installment of the trilogy.

You can watch it on Netflix. Heneral Luna was the brother of Juan Luna, the painter of "spolarium". At the end of the film, you will have a glimpse of the actual painting. There are also other paintings he created that you can check online, mostly Filipino and European life.
