- The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued an arrest warrant for Russia's former defence minister, Sergei Shoigu, and the chief of general staff, Valery Gerasimov.
The ICC judges said the two men were suspected of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity during the war in Ukraine.
The court said there were grounds to believe that Mr Shoigu and Mr Gerasimov bore individual criminal responsibility for attacks on civilian targets between October 2022 and March 2023.
Russia's Security Council said the ICC's arrest warrant against Mr Shoigu was "insignificant" and part of a hybrid war against Moscow.

So the International Criminal Court issues warrants for two alleged Russian war criminals... and quite rightly you may say, as the Russian assault on the Ukraine has indeed been brutal and there may well be evidence of crimes that should be adjudicated in a court of law. But a court loses all credibility and respect when it is blatantly applying double-standards, as is the case here. The Israeli government and its 'Defence Force' have now slaughtered something in the region of thirty-seven thousand people in Gaza, the vast majority of them civilians and including thousands of children, and have also used deliberate starvation and the destruction of water and health and sanitation facilities and all civil infrastructure as weapons against the entire population, leading to greatly increased death tolls. And yet there are still no arrest warrants for Netanyahu or any of the murderous criminals who have commanded those responsible for this bloody racial massacre. Such double standards not only embarrasses every government who recognises this court but also undermines any claim the court has to legitimacy in the eyes of the world.

The reason Russia started a new war for territory in Europe is because Russia got away with all Russian war crimes during WW2, so Russia never learned any lessons. Russia entered WW2 as Nazi ally (joint Nazi-Russian invasion of Poland in 1939), then invaded other countries, was kicked from the League of Nations, committed many war crimes such as the Katyn and NKVD prisoner massacres, but wasn't prosecuted because Russia switched sides in the middle of WW2 (1941). But Russian war criminals will not be that lucky this time around.

The prosecutor of the ICC requested the court to issue an arrest order, but the court hasn't still made a decision. Hopefully they will also issue arrest orders soon for Netanyahu and the other Israeli and Hamas leaders

Zelensky didn't try to prevent the conflict through diplomacy because he lacks honor and integrity.
In 2014 there was a coup. Soon after, there was a massacre in Odessa (dozens of people were burned alive). Ethnic Russians living in Ukraine were treated as subhuman. Their language and culture was being oppressed. A civil war broke out due to the rise in ethnic tensions. For 8 years the Ukrainian military was indiscriminately shelling civilians living in Donbas.
If Zelensky honored the Minsk agreement and pledged neutrality, none of this would have happened. The 8 year civil war would have ended and Donbas would have remained part of Ukraine. War is the ultimate failure of diplomacy.
Zelensky, Poroshenko, Merkel and Hollande admitted that Ukraine had no intention to honor the Minsk agreements.
Who didn't want peace? Who advised against the 2022 peace talks in April? Hint: someone visited Zelensky in Kiev at that time
Russia's national security was compromised once NATO began to expand eastwards. Russia clearly stated that Ukraine joining NATO was a red line (November 2021) and unfortunately this concern was never taken seriously. The Russians openly stated: if nothing changes, we will be forced to act in order to defend our national security. Enhancing the national security of one country at the expense of another is unacceptable. The Russians have legitimate security concerns.

The first terrorist attack on the Kerch bridge killed the truck driver and the individuals in the adjacent car (innocent civilian victims).

The leadership of Ukraine, to please Britain and the United States, decided to remove the Russian naval base from Crimea and install bases for the United States and Britain. Bases in Crimea and Ochakov led to Russia losing the Black Sea. All this led to the political "failure" of modern Russia in the 17th century, and all the sacrifices Russia had suffered in this region for several centuries would have been in vain. In addition, Zelensky, against the backdrop of intensifying shelling of the Russian-speaking DPR and LPR, began to threaten Russia with nuclear weapons at the official level. About a year before the start of the invasion, the Russian expert community began to discuss the topic of moving the capital of Russia inland. Add to this offensive chants towards Russians and the President of Russia, which ordinary citizens of Ukraine began to demonstrate everywhere. Apparently, due to the current situation, after calculating losses, threats, costs and political damage, the Russian authorities came to the conclusion that a war, even the most difficult one, would be cheaper. If Russia had not started hostilities, it would have begun to seem weak and neglecting the memory of its ancestors (this is exactly what the leadership of Ukraine tried to do for many years) and no sane country would respect it. That is why Putin says that the goals of the special operation will be achieved in any case.
