Well....there goes my new years resolution right out the window! Thanks to this video, because until I saw this I felt like the brutes just didn´t sound the way I like. But I realize that most of the demos I have seen, people tend to put way to much stuff in the drum loops at once. Obviously to try and show of as much as possible in a 5 min video. This however was more...sober and didn´t feel as crowded to listen to, I really enjoyed that you gave the sounds space to breathe sort of. Now I know I want one, thank you :)
Arturia's products are _really_ nice. You've got to remember that a lot of times you see them on UA-cam, they're either being used by folks who just bought a new synth/drum machine/VST, or they're just not into the same type of music you are. When you get your hands on some Arturia hardware, you realize there's a lot more to it than what's shown in a video like this. Idk if you ended up buying it, but the IMPACT suits some certain genres better than others-like EDM, synth pop, and modern hip hop styles, to name a few-and it sounds very 'fat' like a TR-909, unlike the original DrumBrute which is great but sounds quite different.
Watching this video almost everyday while i wait for the end of the month so i can buy one for myself!! Such a great demo of the DB Impact!!
You will love it.
@@TiminatorFL Someone bought the last one available one day before i got the last paycheck i needed... Unfortunetly i don't live in the US or the UK, so it's really hard to find even the cheap synths. I ended up buying a korg volca FM, which i love, but i still think about the DB hahaha
This is so awesome minimal and best arturia drumbrute impact commercial.
Nice spacing with the fm drum. Has character, but never overplays it.
Fantastic demonstration of the DrumBrute Impact. Inspired me to line up all my guitar effects behind my FM Tone. Never going back now! Great video...one of my favorites.
This is you are amazing. I've had mine a week, still need to lean distortion per instrument, random per instrument and adding per 64..... love it, I'll keep watching this to learn. Thank you
There's a surprising bunch of features in the box, like taking things out via individual outputs which routes them out before the distortion circuit in the main output which can be used to group certain sounds into the distortion while keeping others crisp and clean.
this is far better than most of the other drumbrute demo's out there, okay now I want one!
Absolutely agree
The best Impact jam on YT. Thank you!
Whoa!
Surprised me with the FM!
Awesome
distortion knob sitting right on the sweetspot. very nice jam!
this is tasty, I think it's my next purchase. I highly recommend the mini brute 2s synth, sounds amazing and has a powerful sequencer. Arturia is just great.
Nice jam! (minimalist but well construct ). Especially because of your external reverb effect... ;-)
Love drumbrute jammings, keep jamming bro
I figured an absolute ton of stuff out from watching this video so thanks for making it :)
Best demo i've seen. What a groove !
you really hit the sweetspots on this machine!
Great jam tutorial! I didn't understand how to get FM sounds in diferent tones
Impossible
Great sound, thanks for the demo, i’m out 190€ now
Very good, thanks.
Sick 👏
excellent demo, thanks. so tempted to order one, but i made a pledge not to order gear this month. damned....
update: broke my pledge and pulled the trigger on the Impact. Very happy with it... :-)
Wreckless Reto same here, but rather not the month but until I pay off everything I bought in the last year. Don’t want to blow out the credit. 👍😁
That sounded great, and didn't seem too hard to program.I certainly hope so because I got one coming and I'm an old school techno- boob.I just got the Slo reverb so I gotta use some cause that is sweet sounding.
love the atmosphere you made here!
Very good song big up great arturia drumbrut
May be a ridiculous question but. Can you save tracks that you’ve made for later use? And if so, how many can you save separately? Like if I had 8 songs, all with totally different drums, can I save the drum tracks I made for each song? Thanks
Can't wait to get mine!
awsome beatmaking captain! :-)
Realy cool, cant wait to receive mine
Excellent
love this. great work
Thank you.
Wonderful!
hi
bit surprised - does the impact allow motion sequencing now? or some other sorcery is used to alter the pitch of the FM drum?
That's right, color mode adds a declining pitch envelope to the FM Tone. With the right settings you can make it glide a fifth (like here) and without color it plays the minor third of the lower note with color on. Also, any of the sounds can have four variations with no accent or color, with accent, with color, or with both accent and color making things nice and varied.
@@emnordicfinlandoy517 Nice jam! One of the best i've seen on Drumbrute. Can you tell me if there's a way of doing this Color Mode thing on the regular Drumbrute? I've just ordered one and waiting the shipping. Thank you!
@@cl_audio_90 Thank you! Color was not implemented in the original Drumbrute, but you can play with accents and the open hihat decay times to get different tones, for instance by setting a slightly longer decay and tone on the open hihat and dropping some within the closed hihat pattern to add some life.
so great
Missed this one ;) Really nice
Очень добренько)👍👍👍
I've played this demo through Yamaha external reverb. This machine definitely would fit in an Ambient Techno/IDM setting. I'm not sure it would work for bit harder Techno styles, that's the sound which I'm looking after. Kick is fine, but these hats and clap... they seem to be quite calm, even calmer than Roland 808.
The hats are intentionally toned down here for a more 808 type of sound, they can be toned up for a pretty brutal and more 606 type sound and by adding on a gritty gate reverb (Alesis Microverb 1 style) they go hard.
B1SCOOP there is also built in distortion to further dirty things
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💪
Yeah nice, love the punchy kick
Very good sound
Wonderful,
How do u make to change the FM tone pitch on the sequencer ?
Kind regards 🤔
When adding "color" to a step with a trig for the FM tone it adds a pitch bend for that trig.
@@emnordicfinlandoy517 If I understand:
- I use a step in COLOR mode for the PAD FM which offers another Pitch.
- How do you adjust a different Pitch between normal mode and COLOR ?
They have the same setting normally.
Thank you for your help ;)
@@notemeofficial FM amount determines the depth of the pitch bend applied to a step with color. A number of tones and pitches can be achieved by playing around with carrier/mod pitch and FM amount but just to be clear adjusting it is nothing like a chromatic scale, you just need to find the sweet spots.
Thanks for the Jam buddy. Really enjoyed it and learned a few things too as I am a total novice. If you have any more advice to give in other tutorials then that would be magic as not much online to be fair. Easy bruv ;)
Thank you! The basics are covered in Arturia's tutorials so checking them might be worth it, this clip was intended to showcase a few features applied very concretely into building what could become an actual track.
@@emnordicfinlandoy517 Yes thanks I have been reading manual and putting into practice. Hopefully I will post something informative soon. Take care ;)
please pray for me because i had a vascular problem that damaged my left ear a bit..it's driving me crazy because i lost the high pitched sound which makes it hard for me to hear sounds hi hat
Very nice!
n i c e !
nice
This is best demo
Fantastic stuff!
Thank you for watching!
Nice
Nice!
So how long did it take you to get to this point in making music?
Good Inspiration...
Very nice!!!
i didnt think this arturia can do so much thing, .. im looking for first stuff, start electro/techno music, .. what do you think about arturia drumbrut impact for 1st buy ? what add with that ? microfreak or beringer ms 1 ?
I'd say it is a good first buy. It is very hands-on, playable. It is a bit limited in it's number of voices, but as a beginner that is not a bad thing. It keeps your attention on creating beats rather than testing out different sounds.
Excellent!
Merci!
Sweet!
Cool bro!
Great sound! Where's the reverb coming from?
It is an ancient cheap treasure - The Alesis Microverb I.
Not sure if there is something wrong with my finger, but at least for me the Step Repeat strip seems very buggy.
For example, I press 3 and I start to slide towards 4. My finger is still a good 90% on the third section and it jumps to 4 already, whereas going the other way from 3 to 2, I need to slide my finger more or less all the way to the second step.
In a nutshell, the strip is more eager to switch "upwards" and I don't like this. Anyone else experiencing this, or is it just my device that seems "faulty"?
Yes, there is a slight difference in behaviour there.
Make sure you have the latest firmware. I heard it fixes some issues with the strip.
Thx 4U..
What/where is the FM tone coming from? sounds great btw.
Thank you. FM Tone is the rightmost sound on the pads on Impact. While limited it can do some neat tricks, one note bass lines and FX sounds and it has a dedicated individual out and here it goes through a reverb bus for added depth.
I don't get how you're able to get the FM drum to play two different notes at 1:15 , care to help ?
It is explained in the subtitles and happens simply by applying 'color' to every other trigger of the FM drum with the appropriate tone settings of the channel.
@@emnordicfinlandoy517 that's what I thought, thank you. So this makes it up for the lack of automation in a way
Very nice :)
Thank you!
beauty
Do the snares get any snappier than this? They sound a little flat. Amazing performance either way! One of the best demos on the Drumbrute Impact yet.
Thank you! Snare 2 is used here which without accent or color is rather subtle. Snare 1 is much snappier and goes from 808-like to 909-resembling tones when tweaked properly.
hmm nice!! :D
how does he make that sound with the last button? isn't that a zap?
Lorenzo volpi it’s an FM synthesis sound you can make a variety of percussion/bass tones from it. It’s the last instrument FM drum I think it’s called. But yes it has a variety of tones and timbers plus you can sequence it normal, accented, coloured, accented+coloured.
didnt know the drumbrute has an inbuilt distortion, it sounds 500% better that way
The drumbrute impact (the one in this video) has a distortion effect, whereas the original drumbrute has not. The drumbrute impact also features the FM drum, which is the bell sound you can hear. It can be tweaked to produce a variety of different sounds. The FM in this video is enhanced with an external reverb I believe.
i like this video. It plays to the strengths of the drumbrute impact, kind of understated, plain and austere. I have one myself and the sounds feel very limited. the bass drum and toms escpecially are kind of flabby and dead. Overall it's ok machine for stiff robotic or harsh, but not a drum machine for partying or impressing the ladies haha.
i have elktron rytm mk2, it pains me that this little machine sounds better. It is limited but unlike rytm, it sounds natural. especially hh.
Fun demo of the unit, but not exactly a "tutorial", unfortunately. I just bought one and this hasn't demystified it at all. lol
Ok that’s it, where’s my wallet …..
