My little Felix had this problem too. His cage was fleece lined except for a wooden ledge that he liked to sit on. I had to line that with fleece too. I took him to the vet and he had light therapy to promote healing. He did pretty good work that.
Hi Shelby and Linus .my rabbit Had the Same Problems but nothing helps ,but now she is in heaven after an operation she don't wake Up ..thanks für your Videos i Love them so much ....❤❤❤❤❤❤
Looks like a good solution with the fleece. maybe cutting a T shape would help with inserting their big back paws. I had to laugh when you asked him if he was pooping--chinchillas probably don't even know when they are!! And I learned that 1 shredded wheat biscuit = about 2 minutes! I've had four chinnies myself and I think I would have tried a repeated dip and blot method, but the longer the soak, the better. Good Luck, Linus!
Naive question - what happens if a sweet little Chinpal in the wild got caught in the rain? Or stepped in a big puddle or something? Would this harm their lovely soft fur?
Their fur is very dense and doesn’t try thoroughly. Because of that they Can develop fungus underneath. Since they are very sensitive creatures it can cause a lot of health issues to my understanding. 😇 hope this helped.
I was guessing soaking a sponge in that then let him stand on the sponge or make him one of those sweat suits people use maybe make one out of an old umbrella and make him one that only his feet goes through and then sit him down on the sponge but I guess wrong.
So glad to have found this! Discovered our chin has Bumblefoot and worried about how I am going to handle this. We’ve only had her two weeks and she has ringworm too. I don’t want to add water to an already intense drying treatment! My big problem is, we are still building trust and haven’t yet held her! Getting shredded wheat and epsom salt today! 🤞🏻 (PS I clean and change her cage thoroughly every day! 🧹🧺)
I'm curious if he'll clean his feet later, and ingest enough Epsom salts to have a laxative effect. Chins already shit a gazillion times a day... can't imagine what a laxative would do lol. I don't think it's likely that he'd get enough of a dose just from cleaning his feet. Pretty sure it would take a bit more.
You’re absolutely right! But, no wire of any kind in his cage! In fact, he’s a super clean chin who only pees on the bottom pan - and I change the liner every day!
nooOoo lmao. Just.... TASTE Epsom salt. In water. Once. It is NOT, I REPEAT, NOT ANYTHING LIKE NORMAL "SALT!!!!" (Also, yes. It IS edible? And it's basically the most effective laxative in existence?! Dissolved in water... I won't go into details but, I had to drink some once, was absolutely expecting it to just taste like "salt water"... Which would have been about 100,000x more delicious than THIS?! Omg. It's the weirdest, most FOUL tasting thing that IS okay to put into your mouth EVER?!) I don't know about chins... But, can DEFINITELY confirm that "Salt' (NaCl/Sodium Chloride) and EPSOM 'salt' are in NOOOOOO way related. It's basically like the "similarity' between table SALT & the "bath 'Salt' " you'd dump in the tub for a nice smelly or whatever kinda froo froo bath you're going for...? (Or like, eating people's faces "Bath Salts"? I dunno much about those tho?) Just saying.... Regular 🧂 Salt & Epsom Salts are absolutely NOOOO WHERE nearly the same thing. Which apparently most people don't know 🤷♀️?!😊
You should not own a chinchilla, just saying. or a rabbit.. rabbits can get all sorts of issues and we need to pay attention to our pets they are our fur, or scaly..or feathery children .. or naked if you're into hairless..
I am just in aww of how chill he is in your arms❤ mine is almost 5, and I’ve had her since she was a baby and she never lets me hold her😢

Bless him..and I loved how patient and calm you were with him..well done.. success ❤
That's such a good idea with the tub! I hope Linus' feet feel better soon 💚
Linus is such a good patient . ♥️

I’m so glad I found this video again! I recently got a chinchilla who also has bumble foot and this video is extremely helpful thank you!
Amazing CHIN MOM❤❤❤
This is so adorable

He's a patient little soul, especially for a chinchilla.
Poor linus ,Hope he is OK ,Such a wee softie snd a Loveable Patient ❤💞💕

I'm going to have to google these questions! Lol

They live in the arid Andes mountains, no puddles there. They drink condensed water off plants.
@@YaksiHernandez Very helpful; thank you, kind stranger!
Thank you so much. This was so helpful creative! Great work!!
Thank you!! We’ll keep trying other things too!
He is such a good boy
Linus is so laid back compared to my chinchilla! 😆 (who also has bumblefoot! 😞)
He is! Another method of “soaking” is having a moist paper towel or cloth with the solution and just having him stand on that or wrap up his feet! ☺️
@@chinpals that’s a good tip, thanks!
Hi Chinpals!! :) I just discovered your channel and it's amazing!! I love the content and find it incredibly useful!
How is Linus doing now?! 😀
Theyre so cute but I couldnt own one. I just enjoy the vids.
what a good idea.
this channel feels like Go Herping but for chinchillas
Watching your chins makes made me realize how small my Luna actually is.
I was guessing soaking a sponge in that then let him stand on the sponge or make him one of those sweat suits people use maybe make one out of an old umbrella and make him one that only his feet goes through and then sit him down on the sponge but I guess wrong.
Such a big boy

Great video 😊 And I was wondering...is Linus a short tailed chin or a long tailed chin? 🤔
Do you have any bare wire in his cage? That’s usually a big cause of bumblefoot
You’re absolutely right! But, no wire of any kind in his cage! In fact, he’s a super clean chin who only pees on the bottom pan - and I change the liner every day!
@@chinpals oh okay! Wow he’s a smart little guy
aw poor baby
why does every time he gets out the epsom salt I see a brown ball 🟤
Is Linus ok :(
Are you able to use regular salt?
nooOoo lmao.

No, it's Epson salt. It works wonders
Can it be made into a paste with tiny booties
❤❤❤
❤
I have a chincilla
😢waaaaaaaa Linus 😢
It also happen to a rabbit
Tu m'ai du sable, et point final 😭
🤭
足湯😮
our bunnies are roam. why cage them?
Is it possible to just leave them living with bumble feet?
Bruh
😐
Legitimate question! My chin won’t even let me hold her long let alone dip her feet for soaking…

@@christinamarie3308 why shouldn’t I own one? Because I asked a silly question?
