Lovely to see Annalize and the boys with Stephanie as well.
lovely to see all like a old days. 😊❤
I do so love the sibling style of relationship between Stephanie and Dan.
Well done Mummy and Daddy on the united front for the boys. ❤
The comedy duo Dan and Stephanie are a hoot 🎉
I thoughted that as well! lol
No matter how you tease Steph about her age, lie more like, she has always been your constant cheerleader and friend. Love to see it. I remember back in the day when shy you first began working at Lalande. Remember Steph letting the world know about your new you tube channel and repeatedly cheering you on. You two are the best. Love seeing the boys. They're going to be amazing gardeners. You and their mom are giving them priceless memories. Best to you both.
Thank you for this message. This is so true.
A nice comment.
Dan's lil boys r so cute and nice kids!
It does appear that Stephanie is a better translator than a gardener. Very glad to see that she is supportive
Really glad to see Annaliese helping out and supporting him, too!
@@CaraBrimleyRules What is wrong with you? Are you like that in real life, too?
She has always been very supportive, more than Dan towards her if you ask me. If Dan had not started working as a gardener at Lalande, he probably wouldn't have started a vlog and would not have met the photographer who introduced him to the former owner of Chateau de Chaumont.
That's quite rude@@CaraBrimleyRules
@@halvarf ^^^ Google it.
Jack and Thomas were the stars of this video. Great helpers and adorable children.
Totally agree!!
Such handsome lil ❤. Fellers❤
“First you squeeze the pot.” Discussion is my favorite part. Your sons are so smart.
What a treasure the boys are! Nice to see Annalize again.
@marylamb1407 -- don't the boys live with Annelise, permanently? I think she is their primary caregiver and, on weekends, they come to spend time with Dan. I think it is a very nice arrangement all things considered. They seem to be growing level headed, happy little boys. Adorable!
🤣🤣🤣🤣 hilarious David Attenborough joke reference ... Stephanie gardening "lesser spotted chatelaine gardening in her natural habitat". I roared laughing!!!
LOL!😂😂😂
love it! 🤣
I figured it was a reference to Marlon Perkins of the old "Mutual of Omaha Wild Kingdom". (Which is a joke only Americans of an older generation would get.)
@@llywrch7116 because those older generations would be of the early Pligrims who leave England and settle in that country
@@squarefour65😂😂😂 Yep!!!
So sweet to see Analise, Dan, and the boys together.......beautiful family!❤❤❤❤
100 % Agree
Your littlest helpers are adorable, when Jack and Thomas are grown up they will have fond memories of planting around Chateau Chaumont!
Think my favourite bit was Jack and Thomas arguing about the 'squishiness' of the pots, and ending with Thomas' "bloody know that bit!" Genius!
😂😂😂😂😂Very normal brothers. Both of them are so damn adorable❤❤❤
The bantering between you and Stephanie is priceless❣️⚒️🪴🐾
Love Stephanie when she is just being herself and not being "precious"
They act like brother and sister
Dan, you are not just rebuilding a chateau. You are creating an environment where people can come together to be a part of something huge. These memories you are making with your boys are priceless. ❤
I would so love to be there to help!
LOVE TO SEE THOMAS AND JACK WITH ANALISS HELPING. GLAD STEPHANIE WAS ABLE TO READ AND LET US ALL KNOW WHAT HAPPENED WHEN THE CHATEAU BURNED.
It’s so wonderful to see the family working together, that’s so important even when divorced for the boys..
Aww, divorced?! That’s sad with the boys so young.
@@debmiskiw1839Technically not divorced as they were not married.
At the end of the day, it's not anybody's business!
@@cb1160are you going to stop watching his videos then? As it’s all there for people to see and they don’t keep it secret. Jeez people like you 🤫
@@paulb1951 🤪
So awesome to see Annelise and the boys visiting. Your Stihl shoes are cooked 😊 time for a new pair 😂
Love that you and your ex can enjoy working with your boys. That's really rare and special.
Happy to see Analise there! So glad they've remained close. Those little boys are adorable! So fun to watch Stephanie and Dan, they are hilarious together! She is so proud of your accomplishments Dan. Nice to have that kind of support of friends. Interesting news about the fire,
It's just shocking how quickly and easily a fire can begin and become catastrophic. Such a shame. You are a lucky man to have Stephanie as a friend, especially with the age barbs! She's a very good sport. Boys are cute and funny. Next spring the garden will be so lush and beautiful.
Yeah, the one closest to my home took less than ten minutes to become catastrophic and within 20 you could no longer safely enter that floor because of the massive smoke. The owner left the room to make himself some hard-boiled eggs for dinner and when they were done the entire room was up in flames. In the end, two rooms and the hallway were a total loss with a giant hole in the roof above (in December) and a large number of rooms on the same floor suffered massive smoke damage (smoke from a house fire turns everything pitch black and it's hot enough to melt plastics. It's also extremely toxic). Three (!) floors below suffered water damage, although the ground floor only got a few drips in one room.
Apparently it has gotten a lot worse over the last decades. I remember once reading that in the 1940 it would have taken about 12 minutes for a fire to take an entire room. Nowadays it averages out at less than 5 minutes. The reason is that nowadays many the textiles in a home are polyester or a similar type. Which is all essentially plastic and thus highly flammable. Whereas back then it would have been more natural fibers and especially the rugs would have often been made of wool. Not anymore in the 70s or whenever it was that Dan‘s place burned down, pretty sure there was a lot of polyester going on there as well. But a few decades earlier you had a much higher chance of escaping a fire than nowadays, apparently, especially when living in a brick home and not a wooden or half-timbered one. Which is why smoke detectors are so important, so that at least you notice as early as possible.
@@alexk7973 Mid-80s and judging by the bits Dan found the whole house had synthetic carpet and probably lots of other synthetic fibres. Someone who puts carpet in bathrooms surely has carpet everywhere.
Thanks to the fire Dan has been able to have the chateau, without it he could never have been able to get it. So some good came out of it😊
As a French subscriber, it hurts my heart to hear that such a building could burn down because of cigarettes. And the story with Popec really touched me! Please offer a such a story for French people who understand English!
je partage votre avis.
Lovely how you can still be friends with your x,it's so healthy for the boys .I hope you get the Chateau finished and enjoy it.
Yes! Stephanie drops the “F” bomb. I love her. I really love these moments. Your friendship is precious. Good to see Annelise and the boys planting memories, literally. Special moments they will remember. Thank you for including us in the history and report of the fire.
When did she do that? I didn't hear it and can't imagine her saying it.
I rewatched it and didn't hear it anywhere.
2:42 f’ing bedrock. But so what. She’s amazingly human. She didn’t blurt it out. It’s not blatantly obvious.
@@cinnamongirl4real She said she was hitting granite.
She said granite bedrock 😂
Family day! Yay. How refreshing to see you and Annelise allowing the boys to experience a type of unity. So critical. And of course Stephanie always adds interest to every video. Thx Dan. Good one. ….your boys are so sweet.
Lovely to see Annalese there with the boys, you all make a lovely family !!!! She's very talented and hard working.
A Sunday video with your sons, what a treat.
Happy planting.
Awe, adorable children!! The next generation of gardeners !
Beautiful family…
Love and respect from Canada

I thoughted this is was a great video. Loved watching the boys planting and spending time with mom and dad, and of course great great great great aunt Stephanie!❤❤❤❤ I love your rapport with her.😂
Build Jack & Thomas a tree fort. They will definitely create amazing memories from Dad's Chateau!!
Something low and safe with added heights as they get older. Fun!
No, kids should build their own tree house, what's the fun with grownups building it..?
@@KjerstiNagel they could build it together! :D
Oh yes the boys definitely need a tree house!
They could get Treebeard to help them.
I'm glad Stephanie was able to translate that for you. It is nice to know that they don't suspect it was purposely done. I can't get over how big the kiddos are now. The plants are looking really good.
A healthy relationship between the parents in order to show unity and love is so essential
So I applaud you both for being able to step outside of your needs and back story and ensure that your children are nurtured in a very very caring and loving environment
Thank you for putting your children first ❤
Lovely to see the old team together again.
How lovely to see Mummy helping in the garden, did me good, 👍would love to see more of Mummy.
You can see her a lot on Chateau Diaries
Unfortunately they are no longer together but do a great job of cooperating and co-parenting. It says a lot about what good people they are.
Stephanie is a very good friend. She came to help. Your kids are adorable and their Mom is supportive. A good day all in all.
Training future gardeners! Great future proofing. Stephanie is such a good sport. I love her infectious laugh! I love to see the garden expanding.
Love seeing the tiny "Dan the Gardeners mini gardeners" It was nice of Stephanie to come to help out with the garden and particularly the police document. Things are looking so great.
Love love love Stephanie’s vlog being with you on her site . Bantering, planting laughing those are the Vlogs of the old days. It was the best ! Taking the dogs for a run seeing the scenery. Absolutely funny.
Damn those boys are adorable! And it's fantastic that you are teaching them about planting and nature! Its also wonderful to see Analise there as well. Its so healthy for your kiddos to see that you still like each other and that there is no animosity. My ex and I raised loving and forgiving children I believe, by being kind to each other. Bless you all
Wonderful idea the squish the pots!! Your boys are so sweet. Wonderful translation Stephanie, the young Stephanie !!!!
This has been one of the VLOG's best episodes in a long time. It is great to see the boys and get more info and watch the work progress while everyone is having fun. A great escape!
Totally agree! I loved this episode!😊
Oh Dan, how delightful to see your adorable boys helping in the garden… squishing the plants out of their containers ❤😂❤
The children are communicating well and learning . I like that you are not interrupting or correcting when they show what they are doing . They are entertaining and added to the video quite nicely. I am so glad no one was injured in the fire.
I do love how Stephanie is such a great part of Dan's UA-cam origin story...
Those historic pics and documents of the fire would be great to have framed and displayed. Stephanie is such a great translator and storyteller. 👍🏻
What a lovely mature relationship you have Together. Your boys will prosper. As a Primary teacher of 40 years, the way you are both bringing up your boys is a delight.
I taught many children with parents living in the same house that were not in a good positive environment. You both are delightful 🤗
Jack and Thomas just having greatctime squishing pots and miraculous planting them clearly the stars of the show!!!
So wonderful that Stephanie is able to translate those documents so well. Bravo. :)
What a complex web of relationships being made to work as best can be achieved. The boys obviously are at home there and with you Dan. Stephanie is a very competent lady and her free translation from the documents was so helpful. Despite her great antiquity (!) she wears it well and can match your incorrigible teasing. The last days of an intact Chateau are sad to hear - but at least the TV and Video Recorder, silver and copper tray were saved! Unbelievable.
And the calculator! 🙂
Number one, the recounting of the evening of the fire was mind-blowing to listen to. That was just incredible information Thank you for sharing it on this channel and not just patreon. Secondly your boys are just absolute gems! My cheeks are hurting from smiling so much from their chatter and their energy and just doing what they're doing. I know that you are a very proud parent! I hope that you have an amazing day and look forward to your next video!
Thank you boys for the gardening lesson. I will try doing exactly that.❤
Those young gardeners are absolutely precious.
Accidental fire caused by smoking and now many years lated the buildings night in shining armour is here to put the smile back on this beautiful buildings face keep it up Dan your doing an amazing job and so are all your little helpers
It makes my heart happy to see the boys enjoying planting. My grandfather taught me how to garden and he told me a girl and her spade can change the world! Having your hands in the dirt is so good for the soul!
So interesting to find out the official information on the fire. I do think you have the best jolly helpers. Very good for the boys to be together with both Mum and Dad a well. MS Jarvis is an epic translator and her attempts at gardening is always funny! She tries so hard💕
Oh those boys -- time passes! I loved the way Stephanie gave the translation. Back to the very day of the disaster. A cigarette among the lingerie? Annelise is lovely.
And "The End", he definitely has dad's charisma.
so good seeing the boys again. Forget how fast little bits grow
Good too see your family helping you and good ole stephanie helping with plants and translations. 😊
Great to see Stephanie out working in the garden! And wonderful teasing her!
Your children are absolutely precious. Thanks for sharing the police report, it was very interesting.
This one of my favorites of your sons moments...it takes me my own moment with my 2 young sons ...3 years apart for both...they loved going with me in all things I used to do..and your sons are just adorable, so smart....💯🤗💝💫🌟😇🎄🙆♀️
Great to the boy's helping with Mum & Dad with the planting 🤗
Thanks Stephanie for the interesting fire report translation🤗
Love Sue ❤❤❤🇬🇧❤❤❤
Well done, dear little helpers! To have that „neutral“ report must feel amazing, a historical document!
I Love seeing when Stephanie comes to help out and the boys are so cute and try there best. im happy Dan has a great friend in Stephanie who has been doing the same things dan is starting they can help each other.
Dan, you will get a slap from young Stephanie. Wow great translation of documentation from Stephanie very interesting history of the fire. Great video as always.
Good work Stephanie.
Dan: getting history about the Chateau is as important as the renovation,- is for me. You are making history right now as you work rebuilding the chateau. A very worthwhile video. Carol from California
To Stephanie: LOL-With age comes responsibility and the ability to know (right from wrong). So... Stephanie, Being the responsible and knowledgeable person that I know you are. I feel it is your responsibility to smack Dan Lightly for the age comment LOL with your right hand knowing it is your right, you will not be wrong. LOL Dan, no matter how much you tease and lie about Stephanies age, she has always been a good sport about it. You are a lucky man to have Stephanie as a friend. I really liked this video of everyone working together. It is Great to see Stephanie helping with the planting and translating the police report. And seeing the boys helping what great memories are being made here as a family. Love that you and your ex can enjoy working with your boys together. That's really a rare and special gift you both have. I am having a hard time waiting here for the garden to be completed, but I know the weight will be worth it in the end. What a beautiful sight we all have in store when it is finished and in full bloom.
Dan, what a fun and interesting video. Jack and Thomas are gems. They've grown so much since I saw them last.
Great to see Stephanie helping with the planting and translating the police report.
See ya tomorrow.
Cheers
Nice to see Stephany at yours ❤
Am I the only one that had Isabel’s voice in my head whilst steph was on the quad and going up the stairs!🙈😂😂. Have to say Dan you need to give yourself more credit for what you are accomplishing at the Chateau and as a from the early days watcher I miss the vlog offs between you and Steph so this was a treat and dare I say it’s been a pleasure to watch you age, I’m sorry but whilst I know you were a functioning adult you still looked so so young back as Dan the gardener but now you look fully grown up ! 🙈I feel so so old !😂. It’s a joy to watch even planting Rhododendrons . Already know you have a deep love of gardening!🙊🤪😂, how does Nick feel about it!?
Dan so wonderful to see you all together laughing and sharing giggles in the sun on the grounds of the estate Excellent video
Lovely to see your boys and their mother all happy working in the garden. Stephanie too of course. Best wishes
It's always good when the whole family plays and works together. Your boys could turn out to be gardener's one day. Everybody, teach your kids how we get our food and how to take care of the planet.❤
Your sons are so smart and cute. Got to love their enthusiasm to help you out planting and learning things.
Dan you need an Auger for your drill!!!, to drill holes in the soil... they make them where you can stand up and drill holes and there are different sizes.
It's great to see the boys being part of this project. It maybe a small part, and slow, but it to me is an important part of being a family. Nicely done.
Brilliant vlog. Nice to see the camaraderie and wit between Dan and Stephanie again. Next time bring along Kirsty and Ombaline..👏👏🏴
The lovely boys are growing so fast! Thomas is Darling with his plant. Nice that Stephanie is helping you plant! Jack is so sweet! Yes, nice to hear the police report and know it was not deliberate. All the best to you all.
Time with family is the best. Great to see you all together again.
🥰
What a delight to see your family working together 🤗 your boys are adorable ❤️🌹
I love the irony that Stephanie is gardening in the garden of her former gardeners chateau 😂
Great seeing the family there, and love the effortless banter between you and Stephanie.
The boys arguing over squeezing the plants, is that like you and Nick off camera 😉😂
Great to see the boys enjoying themselves with mum and dad . Great to see Stephanie ❤
Nice to see the entire family helping!
Your boys are just precious. Teaching good skills early! Keep them safe.🎉
Smart work getting a garden in while still working on the chateau. It will grow with the renovation and when all is done you can sit on one of your balconies and admire all that you have accomplished. I very much enjoyed the efforts of the apprentice gardeners and the instructions on how to plant were excellent.
Even though you didn’t get much done it was priceless o see you all together ❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊😊
Wonderful to see the family working together, Dan very nice Sunday vlog. Thanks for sharing with us ❤
So Happy to see everyone working together! I burst out laughing when you said oldest person.😂❤😂😊
We continue to follow from Wisconsin, U.S.A..
Precious memories made with your sons today. A cherished moment in time.
Wonderful to see you all together.
Great to see the helpers - loved the boys so seriously gardening and Annelise and Stephanie - thank you for sharing.
Happy Sunday ETRF fam!
Hi Dan
Your children are adorable
God Bless🙏🏻
🐶🐶❤️❤️
Lots of hugs to you all
Great to see you all together. Might not get as much done but the joy you get from being with family and friends is worth it.
Awesome crew that showed up to help plant the plants. Definitely the best crew avaliable. 👍👍👍
💕Your boys are growing fast & following in your footsteps to become gardeners then with your help they will learn to become a jack of all trades like you Dan💕
When I do bulk planting I have a drill bit that does the quick digging for me. It goes on the end and takes a second or two to drill a hole and then drop in the plant, pack back around, and repeat. The drill bit looks like a mini version of the devices used to drill post holes. I found it on Amazon. The garden would be a great place to use drip hoses. They are easy to put together and can be gravity-fed from an IBC tote for water collection. I put a large tarp out when it is going to rain and the gravity feeds the water down the tarp to a horizontal gutter which feeds into the tube that goes into the tank. Those IBC tanks hold 350 gallons each and are easily found in bulk online on places like Craigslist.
Love the boys planting, especially the sound to make when turning the plant over and tapping to get it out. Wonderful Stephanie could translate
Sad, but interesting.
The boys are learning a lot by being involved with the build, spending time with both of you and all the people in your daily lives. Dan, hope you decide to have a permanent translation of the police report framed alongside the French original report, it is a very important document from the Chateau's history.
YEA! The adorable Jack and Thomas are there. My how they have grown Dan! It is so lovely to see them. They almost look like twins! Little mini Dan's! I was just asking after them in a previous post wondering how the sweeties were doing and then, here they are. I didn't get to see very many videos in the previous 7 months (although I did try to keep up) but I was taking care of my sister in Idaho 4 months and then had to fly to Arizona and take care of my step mom (who broke her arm) for 3 month, so I was happy to see your sweet helpful rambunctious boys. You are so blessed to have wonderful friends to help you. We all love Stephanie and I am so glad she could tell us what was in the report from the Fire Marshall and that it wasnt maliciously set. It was quite interesting to learn a little more about Chateau de Chaumont. You should make copies of the report, frame it and hang it up in the hallway of the Chateau when it's done. I think you and Stephanie are so sweet together, what a beautiful friendship you have. It's very rare. 🥀🐛🦋🌴🐌
❤🌺
Your boys are beautiful. Watching them help plant the property will be a wonderful memory for them as they grow up and live there and can look out at what is growing and know they planted it. Thank goodness for family and friends that want to help with a huge project and know they all had a hand in putting it back together.
