For those who don't know: I managed to collect around 50K kilometers during those 9 years of riding motorcycles. This CB500 was my first and still is the only bike I own.
I recently bought myself a Yamaha XVS 1300 since my Honda VT 750 ACE was in the shop for some major repairs. The XVS is one hell of a bike, comfy and powerful and just wants to go, but as soon as I was on the VT I just fell in love again. I got used to the heavy XVS so that the VT felt so light and nimble haha. I had to get used to the power loss but that after half an hour I got used to it. In that half hour I decided that I will keep the VT no matter what. Nothing like an old bike you knew for years.
I like the goat 🥶 tht long right corner was longer than u had thought saw u put it waayy down n I heard tires on tht hairpin right turn I'll say ur pretty damn good to correct those
Ahhhhh yeah, good ol' classic Schaaf video. The satisfaction is real! :D For some reason I actually prefer the CB RAW vids to the modern bike ones....and I do really like the modern bike ones as well!
Great thanks for all these wonderful videos! I`ve done most of the rides you`ve done trough the years. Without a camera........... This brings back memories. The Dolomites is just fantastic! Thanks!!!
My friend recently got his license and just bought a cb500, seeing you pushing it to its limits makes me more and more excited for when i get my license. :D Awesome video Schaaf!
I just had to pause on this double apex corner at 1:44-1:50 I just love the video. I just feel so comfortable watching it. Monetise the shit out of the channel, you deserve the money from YT. For the skills and the quality of pure riding experience. Not interrupted by what most of the american motovlogers do on their expensive bikes, ride in straight line and fill their videos with useless bullshit talks and have 300k+ views and nothing worth seeing the video :| . Thumbs up. EDIT: The touchdown at 9:20 made me shit my pants, get some rearsets for the bike already. You almost leveraged the front wheel off the tarmac on that footpeg in the most damp corner of the whole route...
After watching the fun you have and the performance you manage, if I am without a bike and need a reliable cheap fun I'll take a look at one of those CB's. Cheers Schaaf you got the weather again.
Well shit my pants that was fun!!! You and the little Honda make a formidable team on the tarmac. This one is another for the "Watch again soon" list. As always Ride And Speed Safe.
I think I've watched almost all of your videos the last couple years and I always enjoy the CB500. In fact watching you ride this bike is what inspired me to keep my little Yamaha R3 instead of going with something bigger. You just can't make up for a really light weight bike. I'm considering doing some motovlogging for a hobby. Would you suggest I get the new Hero 5 or one of the Hero 4 models? Thanks for uploading such inspiring videos in winter!
Loving your awesome content man. Glad you feel even better with you bike after riding those others. Footpegs scrappin sounds like crazy haha really cool👌
As always Amazing video!! I have a little question: since i often need to "obscure" the speedometer in my videos beacause...eehm...you know...do you "obscure" every frame or you have a software that do the work?
Amazing ride and passion! Would you recommend me to buy a Cb 500 or save a little more and buy an Hornet or Suzuki Sv650? I have to admit that I'm in love with the sv's twin
it sure would be nice to have the view of your friends following you going through the twisties. Better idea of the lean angle you are achieving. Just a thought
Looks like fun, just curious if you only scrape the pegs or also your boots? Have you considered buying raised pegs? I've seen them up to 30mm, that should give you a bit more ground clearance and the things cost about the same as the original ones. If you look at the guys who race these cb500's on the track they all use custom peg brackets or raised pegs, but i can imagine that after 9 years you're addicted to scraping :P
what tire do you like to use? I ran Dunlop for 3 seasons and switched to Metzlers the past 2 season and I freaking love the Metzler way more grip and last alot longer that the Dunlops
do you ever have problems with your brake? because I did a bit of riding last September and while I was descending Stelvio Pass, mid way through the descent my front brake died. Like the brake lever went all the way in like a cluch and no braking happened, nearly shat myself. But as soon as I stopped, it started working again. Great vid again! As allways!
your front brake apparently overheated. This is very normal on an old bike which was never meant to be ridden hard. Over the years I tried to adapt and simply use the brake a lot less during mountain pass downhill rides. I'll try to use engine braking as much as I can.
I wonder why i dont see you ride the new CB500f and tell us if its worthy of being in the CB family. You are the most qualified to test it and compare it with yours.
Hi, mate. I have a few questions that i was wondering for after watching your chanell. What is the fuel consumption for CB500 when you're riding it like this, almost on full throttle. Admire you about the channel , watching it a lot and like it a lot.
Dude i fucking love your spirit. If you ever wanna ride the blue ridge parkway holler at me. You can stay at my place for free! Trade off is I get to come carve those roads with you the following year!
I’m looking to buy this as my first bike since you can find a few in good condition for around €1500. Are there any negatives I should keep in mind or pointers to look at when buying?
I have the Cb500f 2015 model, this was happening (the scratches on the pedals) to me all the time. You should really take that bag off and try to use more your body, instead of touching the pedal, your knee will. I think it's safer and gets you faster.
So whats your total km on this bike ?Still working everything proper ? 94..its already veteran xD.btw very nice riding on all of your videos! like, sub! :)
For those who don't know: I managed to collect around 50K kilometers during those 9 years of riding motorcycles. This CB500 was my first and still is the only bike I own.
always a thrill ride watching these man :D my little boy is currently watching too, he loves them
Did you ride this bike for 9 years and 50000 KM? Must be a good bike I think...
Honda Engines are reliable af. Mine is 30years old. Has 55k km on it and it runs like new.
Looks like a good bike, but my dream bike is a KTM Duke 690 2010, the sound and the looks are so goooood.
I'm the same, I've had 1000cc 175bhp superbikes and triples but my CB500 is my favourite. Better to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow or me
true
This is what I was waiting for! I love to see this "little" bike being pushed to the limit! Keep em' coming schaaf!
awesome! Thanks Filipe!
It's always a great feeling to hop back into a familiar saddle after test riding other bikes. No matter how awesome those bikes are.
It feels good to go on vacation but it feels even better to come back home. Same goes for everything really.
yes absolutely true!!
I recently bought myself a Yamaha XVS 1300 since my Honda VT 750 ACE was in the shop for some major repairs. The XVS is one hell of a bike, comfy and powerful and just wants to go, but as soon as I was on the VT I just fell in love again. Unless your familiar ride is a raggedy, dying KLR650 haha
Dying? Klr is undestructible son, don't get yourself hurt!
I like the goat 🥶 tht long right corner was longer than u had thought saw u put it waayy down n I heard tires on tht hairpin right turn I'll say ur pretty damn good to correct those
Thanks
Ahhhhh yeah, good ol' classic Schaaf video. The satisfaction is real! :D For some reason I actually prefer the CB RAW vids to the modern bike ones....and I do really like the modern bike ones as well!
well my riding is a lot more satisfying to watch on the old CB! Thanks Márk!
***** 😂 😂 Rengeteg motoros videót nézek :D
Great thanks for all these wonderful videos!
I`ve done most of the rides you`ve done trough the years.
Without a camera...........
This brings back memories.
The Dolomites is just fantastic!
Thanks!!!
thank YOU for the nice comment!
impressive bit of riding Schaaf ! think you've reached pretty much limits of that bike and it's right pleasure to watch it !
awesome work !!!
there'S still a little left in it ;) Thanks!
I just discovered your channel today and watched several hours already. Truly impressive. Greetings from a new Canadian subscriber!
Welcome to the club!
you never forget the first love!!! ;-) good job schaaf and little cb!!
true that!! Thank you Davide!!
Your cb 500 vids are the best. Impressive!
My friend recently got his license and just bought a cb500, seeing you pushing it to its limits makes me more and more excited for when i get my license. :D Awesome video Schaaf!
thanks a lot for the comment!!
I just had to pause on this double apex corner at 1:44-1:50 I just love the video. I just feel so comfortable watching it.

thanks a lot mate!! I am monetizing these here. But I'd need 10x more clicks to generate enough to decently support this financially :/
After watching the fun you have and the performance you manage, if I am without a bike and need a reliable cheap fun I'll take a look at one of those CB's. Cheers Schaaf you got the weather again.
good idea!!
Well shit my pants that was fun!!! You and the little Honda make a formidable team on the tarmac. This one is another for the "Watch again soon" list. As always Ride And Speed Safe.
thanks Jezza!!
excellent!
It's cool to see that an old motorcycle can offer so much fun.
Großer Fan deiner Fahrleistung!!! Thump Up Schaaf!!!
danke dir!
Love that road! Looks very different from "Schaaf perspective".
awesome!
I have so much fun watching your video. Thank you.
Welcome!
Lot of goat in this ride ;)
Enjoy these CB500 videos as always. Thanks you dude
haha yes :D Thank YOU!
nice riding my man, spring is coming and so are the good days!
very right! Thanks!
small bikes are fun! nice roads. thank you!
thank YOU for commenting!
Unser tägliches Rastenschleifen gibt uns der Schaaf heute.Amen. :-)
AMEN!
that honda cb500 of yours really reminds me of my bike and that is why i enjoy watching your vids man! awesome riding bro! 😉
thanks man!!
Der neue Asphalt taugt wirklich was!
fantastic bike, easy & fun
indeed! Thanks Giovanni!
Thanks for uploading such inspiring videos in winter!
thank you! For motovlogging a Hero4 Silver would be more than enough!
Yep, my little mt-03 is crazy fast through mountain passes etc... got a hero 5 on discount, tbh not much difference
I'd like to see a video of you and your CB in action at the TT....
awesome ride and rider..
thanks man!
Oh man i'm so done with the subzero conditions in the netherlands the past few weeks (and probably next month...) i want to ride again!
yea it's the opposite of nice around here too :/
Ahhh I commuted on one of these for 6 years, I didn't realise that I miss the sound of that parallel twin farting away through a race can. Great bike.
yea, sounds quite impressive for such a dull commuter, right? :D
looks like you have a lot of fun with that bike on this road. not too sure about the pop up sheep though.
they love it more than me even!!
merci!
Great scraping
thanks mate!
Loving your awesome content man. Glad you feel even better with you bike after riding those others. Footpegs scrappin sounds like crazy haha really cool👌
thanks a lot mate!!
Thank you for entertaining!
thanks for commenting!
Wo ist die Strecke?
From Morocco to the best professional driver, drive with caution my friend
Thanks mate
nice driving, great bike, amazing sound ! i subscribe !
thanks man
As always Amazing video!! I have a little question: since i often need to "obscure" the speedometer in my videos beacause...eehm...you know...do you "obscure" every frame or you have a software that do the work?
I do Motion Tracking with After Effects. Doesn't safe you from sometimes doing it manually though, depending on the video footage
Warming up the brakes? WTF! Like your riding, that's one of the things you want to keep cool. :)
Nope. It was very much neccessary
Amazing ride and passion! Would you recommend me to buy a Cb 500 or save a little more and buy an Hornet or Suzuki Sv650? I have to admit that I'm in love with the sv's twin
whatever you feel more comfortable on :)
Skills on point o_O
thanks Benjamin!
it sure would be nice to have the view of your friends following you going through the twisties. Better idea of the lean angle you are achieving. Just a thought
I see you found the video ;)
These roads look amazing...and hardly and holes in them!
they are amazing!!
In England we have some good twisty roads but you need to have a good memory for where the holes are. And new holes appear frequently!
well done bro, classy rider
thanks man
Every time I think I want a supersport motorcycle I watch Schaaf ride and I am reminded that I am slow, not my bike.
but eventually slow and light bikes will make you fast ;)
Indeed. Just sold my old heavy bike, now I must choose between light and practical (Kawasaki ER6f) and light and fast (GSXR600) Tough choice!
Amazing!
thanks
you are a beast bro
thanks bro!
Looks like fun, just curious if you only scrape the pegs or also your boots? Have you considered buying raised pegs? If you look at the guys who race these cb500's on the track they all use custom peg brackets or raised pegs, but i can imagine that after 9 years you're addicted to scraping :P
you got that very right. Unfortunately I scrape my boots too as soon as the pegs pass a certain level of 'wear'
what tire do you like to use? I ran Dunlop for 3 seasons and switched to Metzlers the past 2 season and I freaking love the Metzler way more grip and last alot longer that the Dunlops
He uses BT45 - it is written in the description in most of his videos
do you ever have problems with your brake? because I did a bit of riding last September and while I was descending Stelvio Pass, mid way through the descent my front brake died. Juhu, danke für das Video. Hilft gut gegen Winterdepression. 2017 wird ein geiles Jahr!! :)
freut mich, danke!!
Great vid. greetings from Poland. how wide is your handlebar?
thanks! 85cm!
at 3:14 , oh look, the panorama. OK screw it. :)) lol you're so fast man !
I know the view very well already ;)
Ahah yeah man. I was laughing because I use to do the same 😁
Peg scrapping music and little Honda exhaust .fully enjoy it😂😂😂
thanks for the latest comments, Keith!!
Great bike this cb500
indeed!
Next video: Where's what an experienced rider's accident looks like. Just kidding... Great video! Keep pushing it, you're a pro!
yes I'll upload that one sometime in the future because it actually happened. Not with my own bike though
I can imagine how that CB is a bike you'll always have...80 year old grandpa Schaaf with a cb500 mounted on his wall
ahahaha indeed :D
I wonder why i dont see you ride the new CB500f and tell us if its worthy of being in the CB family. You are the most qualified to test it and compare it with yours.
because I can't just get my hands on any bike I want
When did you start doing clutchless upshifts and do you think it is a good habit to have?
I think 2 seasons ago. It's a good habit if you want to change gears as quickly as possible
danke!! Viel Spaß beim Üben!
right now i own gsxr 750 and i miss my previous 125 a lot, its true that its better to ride smaller bike at a 100% than big bike at 20% ;)
:)
Nice..did you change the handle bars? I want a nimble hyper agile bike also.
dry509 I bought it with these 85cm Renthal bars already installed. They definitely improve handling a lot
Question: do you upshift without the clutch? If so, how? (Fantastic channel, just subscribed!!)
yes. There are many tutorial videos on youtube!!
I've clocked up 20,000 km within 7 months of owning my vtr250 I can't wait to have the experience in 9 years
impressive!
Schaaf she's at 72,058.9 km 😂
Sadly yesterday I lent my bike to my uncles girlfriend and she lowsided on gravel and fuck my shit up
Noob question: How much more can you lean over once the pegs start to scrape, before low-siding?
depends on outside temperature, road surface temperature, the kind of tarmac I'm on and my seating position
Hi, mate. I have a few questions that i was wondering for after watching your chanell. What is the fuel consumption for CB500 when you're riding it like this, almost on full throttle. Admire you about the channel , watching it a lot and like it a lot.
Around 7 or 8 l per km when riding it like a madman.
actually something in between 7 or 8l per 100km
nope!
What tyres do you use on your CB?
Just bought one from 96 , and the tyres are from 2001 :) ! It looks like a vibrator machine
BT45
Are you using a gimbal in this video?
negative
That really shows me I dont have to get a superfast bike with 100+PS at the beginning... but can make use of 75-85PS and still have a lot of fun
true that
Dude i fucking love your spirit. If you ever wanna ride the blue ridge parkway holler at me. You can stay at my place for free! Trade off is I get to come carve those roads with you the following year!
hahaha if only I could afford to travel this far
Feel you there! Thanks for posting!
magnifico
thanks Billy
Schaaf ive just recently bought a 98 plate cb500 and i love it ride safe
Hast du mal Fahrtrainings gemacht (Sicherheitsfahrtraining/Kurventraining etc)?? Grüße und weiterhin gute Fahrt!

:)
I’m looking to buy this as my first bike since you can find a few in good condition for around €1500. Are there any negatives I should keep in mind or pointers to look at when buying?
It's flawless
Hello, what brand and model of motorcycle are you riding
It's a Honda CB500 from like the 90's
@@Derpderpson123 Oh, my God, are you sure it can run?😱
are you ever going to sell that bike? lol. I want a cb400 super 4 but theyre so rare in europe
I'll replace it with another PC26 or PC32 the moment this one stops working
fair enough, why replace something that works
You upshift without the clutch?
Honda Squad :)
so ist es!! Danke, Torben!
Hey Schaaf do you use stock sprocket ratio ?
living proof.. there is no such thing as a slow motorbike.. only slow riders. You can go as fast as your balls allow on any bike...
thanks! I'd have a hard time riding this speed with a 50cc scooter though xD
I have the Cb500f 2015 model, this was happening (the scratches on the pedals) to me all the time. You should really take that bag off and try to use more your body, instead of touching the pedal, your knee will.
I think it's safer and gets you faster.
thanks, I know how to ride hang off. I also know how to scrape pegs and enjoy it very much.
Do you know how the old cb500's compare to the 2013 honda 500 twins?
still haven't properly tried a new one unfortunately
sieht sehr stark nach puchenstuben aus ? :D
richtig!!
danke dir!!
I would love to see you push this bike and yourself to the absolute limit on a track.
could be fun maybe on a kart track. On a standard GP track that would be boring as hell simply because this bike is way too weak
Schaaf Would probably be like riding a moto3 bike then haha.
not even close
So whats your total km on this bike ?Still working everything proper ? 94..its already veteran xD.btw very nice riding on all of your videos! like, sub! :)
around 90.000 but I only have put around 55K on it myself. Zero issues.
Wow ! Durable small bike .Thanks for answer :)
And how much you paid for this bike ?
merci bcp Cyril
And you were doing 120ish? Cant make out the speeds. Awesome hold on the bike!
not much more yea
