    "Los toros del puerto" entre otros temas populares españoles dieron lugar a esta gran obra dedicada a la reina Isabel II, obra (re)descubierta, editada y publicada por Leslie Howard. Nadie mejor que tú, Darío, siendo español, le puede sacar todo el "jugo" a esta pieza. ¡Bravo!

      Leslie Howard es aburrido. Toca las piezas de Liszt cómo si fueran ejercicios de piano.

  • @Kalen1457

    I congratulate the pianist for attempting to play this difficult work in public performance/recording but this piece really has very little musical value; it sounds like a circus.

    • @mazeppa1231
      @mazeppa1231 4 роки тому +23

      That's your opinion. To me, this is a beautiful piece of music that deserves to be made known to many listeners as much as other great pieces out there.. and come on, the part from 5:10 and 6:45-7:50 is not beautiful??!! Or 11:10 - 12:48??
      And all the melodies Liszt used for this piece are all traditional spanish folk-music that existed in his time... and I'm also familiar with them, since a lot of the melodies used here also existed as old folk-music where I'm from, since it was a Spanish colony, centuries ago.

    • @mazeppa1231
      @mazeppa1231 4 роки тому +6

      @Linny Ching Uh.. ok?? So what?? Don't get me wrong... Daphnis et Chloe is a beautiful Ravel piece like you mentioned, but does it mean we have to neglect every other piece out there, just because they're "not as good as Daphnis et Chloe"?? Does it mean we have to neglect say.. pieces by Schumann, Alkan, Oginski, or other composers, just because those pieces are "not as good as some other pieces" like you say?
      Hell fucking no. Lol.
      And besides, it doesn't take away the fact that this piece - which has so much beauty, love and care put into it by the composer himself - has been neglected and left there in the dust for more than a century.... It's a great thing that such a piece was discovered in 2009, and we have 2 or 3 performances of it now.
      And to put some context into this piece, the spanish audiences at that time loved the spanish arrangements Liszt played in concert, as well as this one in particular (which had a different name), as one of the themes in this piece was one of the most popular songs in Spain. They admired it, loved it, and even praised Liszt for playing it, giving him flowers as well as a standing ovation.. and this says a lot about a piece that has never been made known or played for more than a century.
      The guy I responded to probably didn't even explore the piece and just stopped after one minute and commented that. I mean, yes.. to each their own, and I'm fine with that.. but I'm pretty sure the parts I highlighted did not sound like a circus...

    • @Kalen1457
      @Kalen1457 3 роки тому +2

      @@amgx9670 Quite the contrary, I dislike the pieces he wrote solely for virtuosity's sake such as this one or the la clochette based on paganini's theme. I regard many of the other fantasies such as Lucrezia(which Andrei below me posted a wonderful recording of) or The Hugeunots, or all of the operatic fantasies based on Meyerbeer's operas are charming, crafted with a appropriate virtuosity, and are great adventurous romantic masterpieces. Out of all of Liszt's oeuvre which I've had the pleasure of listening to(
