Thanks for the video. And for the pipe I purchased from you. “Smokes like a freight train”. Loaded it up with 40th McClellands and pre scorched for tomorrow am.
Goog morning and Happy Saturday my friend. The rum twist is the only rope I tried. It was pretty good, but I also picked up a bit of a cigar note in that. I'll confess at one point I was tempted to light it like a cigar, but I didn't. Good news. We got less snow here then what they were calling for. I'll call that a win. Have a good time at the steak fry.
Haha it’s always fun to prep blends different, glad you didn’t get a lot this time , my latest Saturday vid I was right shortly after making the vid all hell broke loose power out trees down everywhere and had emergency call out to work
@@beans316 - Hey, Brian! Thank you! It's a beautiful pipe indeed! I can't bring myself to smoke it just yet. It sits amongst my pipes as the center-piece of my cabinet. Great work, brother! 🙏
I really like the rope tobaccos ( Black Irish, Brown Irish ) just find them hard to keep lit. Doing it Wrong sent me a sample of the Black Cherry Twist but I haven't tried it yet. We have a steak fry every Friday during the winter at our Legion ( vets club ). There is a meat draw, 50/50 drawn, chase the ace draw and the steak is cooked for us by the club that is receiving the funds from the evening. Great fun, lots of volunteering, and just a great all around time. We don't go every Friday but try to support our local causes.
Thanks for the video. Using the classic French Opinel knife! That was my first knife as a kid and still have it. Don’t think they have ever changed those knives other than adding a safety guard on it. Mine doesn’t have that and still have the scar from the lesson I learned. Lol
Hello Sir. I don’t really understand how this youtube stuff works but wanted to tell you that I have been enjoying your video s very much. I would like to respond and understand how to communicate but seems I only see your videos that are old. Hopefully I can figure it out. Thank you for what you do. We all out here fancy ourselves for doing the same but the fact is, we just don’t have what it takes but Sir. You do and I thank you.
Morning Brian👋 I've only tried the whiskey rope out of the ropes. When I bought it, it was only being sold in 500g bag so I have plenty. Its maybe a yr old now but I remember squeezing a disk and the whiskey dripped out of it. It was good. It also has cigar like qualities so im thinking that the ropes are pretty similar other than the flavorings🤷. Im thinking the cigar like taste is coming from the outter leaf that's covering the rope. Have plenty and can send ya some if your interested in trying that one.
Greetings, Am I missing someting because it seems that you smoke aromatics in the same pipes you smoke non aromatics. The Mark Twain you normally smoke when trying something new but recently it is some briar pipes. Are these notions about ghosting over inflated or does it all go to the seasoning of the briar? Thanks for the weekend morning commentary. It is always objective and knowledgeable!
Most of the time I use cobs but these ropes aren’t heavily cased the ones that are heavily floral I normally won’t use briar . But to be honest I have so many pipes I’m not even worried 😂🔥
@@beans316 Gotcha. I am just starting to try some aromatics since last year and really don't care for the strong artificial flavoring. Lately I have tried some that seem to have more of a natural flavor and not so over saturated. Cult Blood Red Moon upon cracking the tin seemed like it was gonna be over saturated but with less than five minutes setting out it burned well and tasted rather natural. Even Eileen's Dream was the same thing. They mellow nicely after opening the tin. I didn't want to use my briars with aros so I got a few meerschaum lined briars and they work pretty good so far. However, lastnight I smoked some St Paddy's Day Blend from Paul's Pipes in Michigan in a Peterson 302 and it was splendid! I smoke English, Va/Per, Va/Bur, Balkan and some light aromatic blends in that pipe and for some odd reason no ghosting. Just wondering does the quality of the briar have something to do with it?
Hey Brian good to see you this morning brother ! I've always been curious about rope tobacco. Ive just never pulled the trigger on it because I thought it'd be a pain to cut and smoke. I have to get the one you're smoking in this video. When you said it smells like a humidor....it was hook, line, sinker for me. I really miss the Boswells meetups. Hopefully my schedule changes for the better so I can get out to Chambersburg. Man, I remember when we were meeting up there for the first time and I was waiting for you and the gas station we spoke about and I was like "where the fuck is Brian ? I told him to meet me here" and you were at the correct gas station but in the other direction lol. Hope all is well brother !
Hey what’s up bro yeah there meeting April 1 but not many confirmed, you should try and hit the Ohio pipe show in august it’s a great show and a lot of ytpc members go . I’m going both days
I’ve told the couple people that had asked about the meetup that it is pushed out towards the summer, I’ll announce it again in my video tomorrow. Do you get any cherry out of that blend?
1:21 LOOK AT IT
Beautiful pipe! I too enjoy that blend. Thanks for sharing..........Jose
Thanks Jose so far I’m really liking all of them
That GandH Dark Brown Scented I believe is flavored with juice of the Geranium, really over the top but the Brits love it, go figure. Keep puffin.
Ewwwwwwww wow that stuff is over the top strong
Thanks for sharing happy pipeing keep'em lit..
Love that sweet cherry twist! All the GH ropes are good and if the Black Irish X is any indication, they age great, even at just four years.
Yeah so far I liked them all and will no age
Thanks for the video. And for the pipe I purchased from you. “Smokes like a freight train”. Loaded it up with 40th McClellands and pre scorched for tomorrow am.

Thanks for the review Brian! G&H is by far my favorite tobaccos to date. Followed by S.G. Have a great weekend. 👍

A 5.5 from you on a Aromatic ??? Wow, I will definitely order me some today!😄
It’s not your typical aromatic it is on the strong side
Sounds tasty. I’ll have to take a look at those olive wood pipes. That’s one type I don’t have.
Thanks for stopping by my friend there very similar to briar and no blemishes in them
Haven’t had this one but the two I’ve had were definitely cigar like and strong… I’ve only seen one Strawberry wood pipe and it was very light
Yeah so far I really like all of them but the brown flake scented man that stuff is a floral blast

Thanks so much Pete really appreciate it and the cigars are awesome I’ll be smoking them on the pontoon boat very soon 👍🔥😎
@@beans316 anytime my man lol. I appreciate you too my friend!!😁
You mentioned olive wood pipes. Would love to hear the differences, pros/cons of briar vs. olive wood.
In my opinion there about the same it’s just like a briar no ghosting very hard wood no blemish issues at all with olive wood
Nice vid. I've been meaning to try that and cult blood red moon but just never get around to it
It’s a good blend I like most of them so far

Thanks for the review! Just curious, where can I find your pipes? I did a little digging but didn’t find anything, probably just me.
Thanks for stopping by I sell on eBay just type Brian Doran in eBay search bar

Great video as always, how would I get one of your pipes that you build. Keep in mind I'm new to the pipe world and limited budget. Stay healthy

I’ve told the couple people that had asked about the meetup that it is pushed out towards the summer, I’ll announce it again in my video tomorrow. Do you get any cherry out of that blend?
If you guys still meetup hope you have a great time
Sure would of thought with the name “black cherry “ that it would taste and smell like cherry! Never tried cherry backy but I might like some. Odd
Just slightly to me it’s definitely not over powering , and it’s definitely not a goopy aromatic
