Even players that didn't make 500 games looked like they produced in their short time in the league.

Some careers shortened by injuries (Reinhart and Hartsburg)

Should’ve mentioned Mike Ramsey was on the USA 🇺🇸 miracle on ice team

Nice that Mike Gartner finally gets representation, I never hear him mentioned ever, despite having 700+ goals. Although I’m a caps fan so i’m somewhat biased.

Are you kidding? A legendary speed demon. He was still one of the fastest players in the league at the end of his career. I think anyone who followed hockey in the 80s & 90s knows who Mike Gartner was.

McCrimmon was that guy who was supposed to coach that KHL team when nearly the whole team was wiped out because of that tragedy.

The ignorance on display once again. He doesn't know and doesn't explain why it was the best draft in history: because it was three years worth of players in one draft. First, the NHL lowered the age from 20 to 19. That meant that players turning 20 AND 19 came out in the same year. Second, the WHA folded after the 1979 season, so the players from the three teams that folded were also available. Winnipeg, Hartford, Edmonton and Quebec kept their players.

1979 was also the year that Wayne Gretzky entered the league.

Fun fact, although the OIlers were an expansion team that year, they were made to draft last because they were allowed to protect Wayne Gretzky who had come through directly via the WHA. (and still netted 3 hall of famers)
EDIT: it has been properly pointed out the Oilers were not an expansion team. This is true, but at the same time NHL teams could claim back any player to whom they previously had rights, so to a certain extent the WHA teams were being rebuilt.

Please do one on the Vermillion County Bobcats, who play in the SPHL. They didn't show up to their own home game, while visiting Quad City Storm along with the refs. The team folded days later in the middle of this season.

Speaking of drafts, the 1984 draft also has some good players.

Don't want to hate on Perry Turnbull, but the Blues could have grabbed Ray Bourque or Mark Messier with that pick. All things considered, their scouting staff had some 'splainin to do.

Wasnt this the draft where 18yo were now able to be drafted? Previously IIRC it was 21. So this was basically 2 drafts in one.
