It amazes me how 95 or 98 percent of the world doesn't even attempt to embrace an artist like No-Man. Haven't been on the radio, so nobody has heard of 'em...........It's all about mainstream music for literally everyone...... "No-Man? Who are they? What have they ever sung?..............'' Baloney! Pisses me off how narrow-minded most everybody is about music. If you don't hear it on the radio, then it's no good? Well folks, these guys don't care about makin hits - it's a labor of love for them. And they are awesome baby, with a capital A. Tim Bowness has a very worthy, velvety voice.....and guitarist Steven Wilson is perhaps the greatest musician of the last 20 years. The other players.....excellent. The violin work alone is worth the price of admission. Beautiful music. Super talent.
+Johnny Wilson They are not amazing. Individually, they are first-team set up, but don't have the the driver. No-Man is being always "tried" to be appreciated by people who like Porcupine Tree. And if they had Wilson, it wouldn't work either, since Wilson's solo stuff is plain crap. No-Man's problem is (or isn't in my case, that' why i like them) that they sound like lounge band. Just something that can go on for hours, utter quality music, you spot talent at every spot, but it simply doesn't mark anything, For example, Sex Pistols were utter crap music-wise, but they said or expressed in some way some memorable stuff. I listen to No-Man quite often, but I can't say they are my favorites or can even say what's their best song. It's just quality music that goes on and on and on until you're bored of it.
+Johnny Wilson May not help much but at least in Santiago, Chile, were David Gilmour played just last night, No Man were aired for the first time with Kiss Me Stupid back in 92 or 91 and then with a stream of other tracks like Angel Gets Caught in the Beauty Trap and Shell of a Fighter. Same happened with Wilson and Porcupine Tree. Star Die was chosen 2nd best track of 1995 on Futuro Fm which since then has changed a lot. Regards.

So happy to find this video recording of this truly marvellous band!! ♥♥♥
It's all about the brilliant mind of Steven Wilson who via Porcupine Tree, Blackfield, Steven Wilson Group and No-Man have been breaking down and expanding Prog Rock barriers for decades. Talent over mass acceptance is a sign of quality.
Absolutely no! First off, from Harmony Corine to Hand Cannot Erase SW stuff is random shit that even Steven doesn't want to listen. Steven wants to play Anesthesie over and over again with a bit of light bulb sun. Others wanted to go on Voyage, and ... just have it all out in music exposure, since they already had bucks for showing what they had already made in careers. Steven is bound to leading melody that carries. He's good at catching it , and a geniouis at making one, Everyone else wasted years and undeveloped talent to get his goals, as this was way to live as a decent human. No-Man is quality beyond the shadow of SW and Porcupine Tree. Actually stuff like these continued the vein of what we loved PT for. I'd put this next to Portishead any time and say it was way betrer and less appreciated. I'd also put Steven with Opeth project as one of legenaries... But truth is that these guys together made something really special, most sucked seperatelly, SW the most, as most exposed figure. If this concert, songs, atmosphere, all... were the next album of Porcupine Tree after "Fear".. well, fuck legends, I'd go for them. But, I guess if all of the best were always sticking together, all newborns would suck from birth to death. And although I have so many respects for SW, I think this is way, even as PT's possible future, way better than each an every did after split. I say this because I think of No-Man as spiritual successor of PT, even thought SW can claim all copyrights. And they showed they don't need a leader, that they can make songs and gigs on their own. And better the master. The only sad point remains that we, who enjoy all their music, long s o much about Porcupine Tree, these differences that were mixed together to make something incredible.

i wonder if wilson just got bored being with one band (pt). he must just have so big a creative urge that he has to try different things. i still think he's best with pt. they had a meshing together of the members of that band that was magic. i've said this before. it's nothing new, but even though i like some of his solo stuff, he and pt absolutely are the tightest and the best band since pink floyd.
+baconrocks 1 I think that you should go catch him live on tour right now. I saw him both with PT and solo, and his current solo tour is mind blowing. Just the musical skill of the touring musicians alone is on a whole other level.
baconrocks 1 Steven is a musician of such diverse gifts and interests that one outlet could never capture or express all that he needs to say. No Man is, for me, his deepest and most beautiful work and Tim is an extraordinary artist in his own right. This is a strange kind of jazz...
New No Man album out on November 22nd 2019. Can't wait. Tim Bowness's voice may be an acquired taste for some but so suited to NoMan melodies.Unrealistic o expect everything Steven Wilson is involved in to sound like Porcupine Tree.Sit back , relax and let this music float over you.
It's baffling to me that anyone wouldn't find Tim's voice utterly mesmerising... And I say that as someone who is only just delving into No-Man more seriously, as a big fan of Porcupine Tree and Steven.
ok, so i didn't get it...... really don't like that guys voice.....between the whisper singing and the trying to be Bowie, it got annoying after a while. So melodramatic. Even his mannerisms. This will be the first time EVER that I didn't like something that Steve has done. Ugggggh!!!!!
I really like a lot of No man's music but I just can't take to Tim Bowness' voice. It's just overly precious for its own good. Btw, hate Wilson's guitar on opening track Only rain.
I cried.
And then I cried some more.
And then I cried again.
I still do not know why.
Truly, truly brilliant.
Thanks, guys
🙏
First time I listened to NO MAN . I find them in one word.. AWESOME! thanks letting me feel the vibe, WOW 😊

+Johnny Wilson But you probably know them because you're Steven's brother ;)

+Name Noname Wilson's solo stuff is pure crap? Did you really just say that? :/
+Siddharth Kulkarni ............wasn't me brother. That would border on blasphemy.

Years go by 🥺. I was there. One of the best concerts I`ve ever been to, and I have seen a lot 🙏🏽☺️
Remember to by the DVD. If possible.
I still listen to this all the time in 2020. Never gets old!

I was at this gig. It was fantastic and emotional. Bowness sounded like he had a cold (when speaking after the show), but he soldiered through well.
Beautiful arrangements and fitting vocals. Shame they are unlikely to ever play together again. SW's solo career has really taken off.
So beautiful music!

watching this after being a fan of SW/PT, it's weird seeing steven in the background like this... but i like it!

Thanks for the upload super band

yeah porcupine tree was a side project..

Muy bueno!!!
Thank you. Dark and lush.
Great stuff, I think the others need to be turned up on the first tune. All I heard was SW's guitar and vox
que Hubiese pasado si stevie wilson hubiera tocado en la banda Pink Floyd?
Se habría producido una paradoja einsteniana en el Universo
This is really something. And I'm only halfway through.
ティム・ボウネスの甘さを、キリリと締め上げるスティーヴン・ウィルソン、絶妙のデュオだと思うが、再結成はないか…
What is the song that start near 26:55 please :)

Actually, it's just occurred to me that he reminds me of a more irritating Cliff Richard vocally.
