Ishrat Jahan trained herself as a vocalist by her father Abdul Wahid and Ustad Mamtazuddin Ahmed. She stepped towards National media of Bangladesh from 1970s for performance as her father Abdul Wahid and mother Mamtaz Begum as well as her siblings acted like a driving force of profound inspiration. She enrolled in the Faculty of Music at the University of Delhi as a scholar of ICCR; eventually she was awarded a Doctorate in 2001.She also conducted Post Doctoral research funded by UGC at the University of Delhi in 2006. Under the tutelage of Guru Ustad Iqbal Ahmed Khan of Delhi Gharana and Pandit Aloke Chatterjee of Kirana Gharana , Ishrat’s rendition of khayal in varied Raags is an outward expression of a distinctive singing style. Apart from giving professional performances on the National and International media she has been an active participant of prestigious cultural organizations since she was a teenager. Moreover, over several decades’ research books and journal publications of her provide immense materials to the knowledge seekers.
