I only had one day to explore Vancouver, Canada after an epic adventure on Vancouver Island trekking wolves for a week.
Thankfully, my friends Jimmy and Jackie Lama helped me make the most of it with an epic Vancouver Food Tour around the city!
It was so much fun trying some of the best places to eat in Vancouver, and I am quickly falling in love with this city (even with all the rain).
Here's the order of our Vancouver food tour:
Granville Island Public Market - A sprawling food market in the heart of Vancouver with a million places to eat, and an amazing selection of cuisines to try!
Lee's Donuts - A Vancouver institution, Lee's Donuts are the best way to start a Vancouver Food Tour!
Sport on Davie - Come for brunch and stay for the ridiculously HUGE Bloody Caesar's. Sport on Davie is a great bar with lots of fun games and big TVs. The food is delicious and the staff is very friendly!
JapaDog - A weird and wonderful fusion between Japanese and American flavors. JapaDog started out as a food truck in downtown Vancouver and they have now expanded to multiple locations.
Tom Sushi - It is said that outside of Japan, Vancouver is the best place for sushi in the world. There are so many best places to eat Sushi in Vancouver and Tom Sushi is one of them!
Ramen Gojiro - Just like Sushi, the Ramen culture in Vancouver is very strong! If you want a massive bowl of tonkotsu ramen, come to Ramen Gojiro - they have multiple ramen locations in Vancouver.

If you are a foodie who loves experiencing ethnic fusion foods from around the planet then I strongly urge you to explore Vancouver. If you want Persian food it is here. If you want German food it is here. But if you want Persian and German fusion foods with a Korean influence then this is the place to visit. I am a Canuck Vancouverite born and raised and have the webs between my toes to prove it. While this channel explored the main street restaurants I recommend walking the back and side streets to find the Family Shops who deliver fantastic fusion cuisine at maybe 50% less and who will blow your mind!
Oh dear, you went to all the tourist traps. Vancouver has excellent food, especially Asian food.
Ugh, food in Vancouver is so good! I love it ❤
Except for the asian food. That stuff sucks. I have tried it all and I will rate Shanghai as the worst food I have ever tasted. Who dafk boils perfectly good food? Then tries to hide that centuries old mistake by drowning it in sauce??? ugh. Some sushi is ok so is Mongolian and Pho. The rest is just hot garbage. Thanks for going to Granville Island. I used to live within walking distance. I'm talking about 4 minutes without crossing a street. That place is like heaven with minimal asian cr@p. Good review
Gareth your content especially on food is REALLY good - keep it going, definitely deserve more views
I really appreciate it! Hopefully the more consistent I am with this new channel, the more it will pick up! Thank you!! ❤
After a terrible trip to Vancouver Island (Watch Here: ua-cam.com/video/x_w-g0eyf9c/v-deo.html), I had only 24 hours to eat my way around Vancouver - what did I miss?
Guu! And like alllll the dumplings....
Canadian food??
@@mrn13over 50% greater Vancouver residents are visible minorities.. as a Vancouverite for over 30 years, these are the foods we eat.
Should have gone to Go Fish on Granville Island.
Luv Vancity. If ya get the chance again for a foodie, give Richmond a try for the best variety of chinese food dimsum, bbq, etc in North America. …some of the best coffee cafes and bakeries. Glad you got to hit some of my fav places in the city
Yes!! I want to go back and make a full episode in Richmond! 🍜🙌
Also if u come out to the burbs ,Surrey(not really the burbs anymore,it’s actually turning into a small city)we have great Indian restaurants here
Granville market is my favorite place to go to when I go to Vancouver. Food paradise.
Love the energy and attitude towards the city of Vancouver when it comes to food, definitely undisputed!
"I'm not really sure what's going on in my mouth, but I'm having a great time." Hahaha I laughed so hard, I had to pause the video!
Hahaha, I was very confused 😂
Welcome to Van!
My Irish/Scottish friends used to live right above Tom Sushi Hahaha
Japadog is my go-to when I go to Vancouver for a concert or sports event
Eating at Japadog but didn't have the fries?? Man, the dogs are ok but the butter shoyou fries are the best fries ever!
love the way you express your food.
I live in Vancouver! Food is good!
Another awesome video Gareth!! 👏🏼 Deliciously funny!
Sandied Llama cinnamon . Love it buddy!
Haha, I don't even know what that means!
I always enjoy seeing you. I miss you when I don't see a vlog from you, but you always come through with a quality vlog in the nick of time.❤❤
Everything looks delicious!
So good!
Great episode, man. Wish I'd have known you were in town, I live right across the water from Granville Island, we could have had a beer! Next time :)
I love this ❤ you should try a 10k dessert challenge with all your favourite sweets 😊
I’ve never even heard of a 10k dessert challenge - what is it!?
@@GarethEats Do u know the 10k food Challenge? The same but only desserts and sweets
3 staples of Vancouver are Duffins Donuts, Danbo Ramen & Siegel's bagels ❤
I've never tried Kojiro Ramen before, but I'll have to give it a shot!
Hope you had a nice stay in Vancouver! :)
Fun fact Duffins original location was where Rexall now is at 33rd and Main, used to go there. Closed in the early 2010s
Jinya ramen is very good too…located on Robison near Seymour (downtown). Tojo and Mura sushi is also delicious.
As someone who's lived my whole 26 years of life in vancouver, I'm very glad you experienced Gojiro ramen. Been going there over 10 years. Best ramen you will find in vancouver. If I was on death row I would probably choose that as my last meal. 🙏
"Not really sure what's going on in my mouth, but I'm having a great time."
"I haven't said that since college."
The quote of the decade. Haha
My choice is Score on Davie.
Haha, my taste buds were just trying to figure it out 😂
never seen this channel before but you sound like a local too
Great VIDEO!
PeaceAndLove
Lori
Thank you Lori! 🙏
While it's nice to see Asian restaurants in Canada, I was hoping to see what a traditional Canadian food looks like. Still a good episode.
Yes, I want to go back and make a full episode all about the Asian influence here, especially in Richmond! 🙌
There is no such thing like traditional canadian food. Except for poutine which is fries with cheese and gravy
@@lorenzo3417 no indigenous food at all? I'm asking out of ignorance. You even, even the original settler's food doesn't exist?
@@PuffOfSmoke of course indigenous people have some traditional food but unfortunately they are a minority here and in most of the metropolitan parts of canada there is nothing like indigenous cuisine or anything related to them when it comes to food. Maybe if you would go up north in a province like nunavut you would get in contact with some cuisine like that but in general when it comes to any canadian food that is kinda traditional is just some kind of a fusious of food brought up here by immigrants
@@lorenzo3417 that would be interesting to see.
That is one big bowl of ramen !
Haha, right!? It was massive!! And so good! 🙌
Taste delicioso😋🤗🥰🇵🇭🥰
Thanks for sharing
I'd like to try that Japadog place!
welcome to vancouver!!😁
Wow 💖💖💖
very good
Amazing ❤ 0:25
That guy and gal with you at japanese restaurant are so high 😅😅😅
A Vancouverite here. Our food scene is boring. Most of the places you went to are tourist places. Video was entertaining though.
جيد جدا
You guys even hold the chopsticks properly..kudos.
❤❤❤❤
Come to Surrey!!!
❤
1:13 why is this section called "Grandma Island" - Grandma is not Granville! :)
Yummy 😋😋😋😋
oh it is SCORE ON DAVIE
Oooooh yeah!! 🙌
Let's talk about the price now lol😅
Great vid, but maybe the title should be "INSANE 24-Hour Asian Food Tour in Vancouver, Canada". Never been to Canada, so would have liked to see some Canadian food and see what that is about
There is still so much Asian food that I didn't cover here in Vancouver - it is a major pillar of their cuisine. Not really sure what other "Canadian Food" to cover outside of poutine 😂
@@GarethEats Anthony Bourdain discovered a lot of Canadian food other than poutine...Very well then...Looking forward to future episodes "Best burrito in Paris" 😆
As a Canadian that's lived in British Columbia my whole life, when I hear "Canadian food" I think maple syrup and poutine and salmon in BC. Most of the food in this country is from other countries, mostly Asia.
It's called Granville Island, not Grandma Island.
"Grandma Island"
No Earnest Ice Cream? Boo.
Don't know why but I hate sweets
You're on the right track!
Great share and channel here enjoyed this Vancouver is so nice
See you again all the best stay safe and healthy cheers 👍🏻👍🏻
Mmmm yum all the raw worms in that sushi
Banyak juga ya makanan Jepangnya. Masih enakan makanan Indonesia deh. Pas di lidahku. Aku bukan muslim tapi aku gak makan pork or bacon.
L
I would say asian food is good in Vancouver, but not much variety on international cuisine. always the same.
I hate these kind of videos as a local b/c you just went to the most hipster upscaled pricey places this city has to offer. You start your video off with Granville Island, to any locals that know, its a tourist trap w/ shit food and crazy prices. No actual vancouverite goes to Granville island to shop or eat unless they work there. The few that do are just.....out of touch with reality (I'm looking at your Mr. "1,000,000 dollars a month"). The ONLY reason granville island still exists is b/c of tourists and rich people who don't want to associate w/ the "poor".
You literally missed out on the best food in town b/c your channel seems to avoid actual food places and goes to more "better visibility" places if you catch my drift, and these places offer pretty generic food just w/ their own twist on it and are extremely over priced.
P.s. if anyone reading this wants to try the best donair in town for example, go to Fast Donair and Falafel in Clayton Heights (Surrey), ask for Paul then get him to make you a lebanese donair with protein of your choice, enjoy.
Your friends suck at Vancouver and brought you to really touristy spots… gojira ramen is solid though… other wise these places are definitely not the spots… though I haven’t been to Tom sushi so can’t comment on that one.
What are the spots then fill us in…. Phnom pehn is great.
U eat it first before tv
