I like the outer circle. My lil brain seems to actually use the ring on fast transitions to pick up the dot. Not sure in reality if it helps but i like it. Blessings Joel!
Honestly when you said it gets busy at distance I did not expect you to say 20m. I thought you were gonna say at 200+ meters. The problem with red dots is unlike the eotech they get larger with a magnifier. Having the ring is useful for a rifle cuz you can use it for longer distance targets. Plus they have some with drop dots but unfortunately you can't toggle your reticle like a holosun. If Eotech came out with a user selectable reticle it would be very nice. Have you tried the 4xt pro from Sig? It has a lot of nice features that make it useful. It has a donut/ring, it has a center dot, and it also has some drop dots. You can select which combination of the three you want. Seems to work okay with a magnifier, I only have a Holosun magnifier and it seems alright. A lot of people say the 4xt Pro has passive aiming performance on par with the eotech. I don't have nods so I don't know.
As someone who has a holosun magnifier I really encourage you to get or at least try out an Eotech magnifier. The clarity is something you have to see to believe. I used to not think there was much of a difference and I'm not saying the holosun is not usable but there is a difference. Is it worth the price to you? That's debatable depending on what you're looking to spend.
I have both and like the EOTech for its durability but it’s a battery killer and it’s not good for a home defense rifle because you have to turn it on and turn up the brightness. For long distance I’d prefer an LVPO but the EOTech style reticle is much less “busy” with a magnifier anyway, so I don’t mind it for that, as mentioned the dashes at the bottom, top, and sides of ring are useful. I really like the AEMS for the braced pistol that is my main HD gun, it’s small and light (it also has a folder because it goes on overnight trips with me and fits in a bag easily) plus had the shake awake so it can be left on and is ready to go at the brightness I want. The factory mount is the weak point so I went ADM as well. I believe the circle no dot is most useful on a shotgun for bird/buckshot.
I love the single dot Eotech. Because it’s a hologram the dot doesn’t increase in size with magnification. With the 5x magnifier it becomes 1/5 moa and doesn’t cover a bunch of the target. Also I find the glass clarity of the Eotech stuff to be better than any red dot.
@@BullseyeBallistics-kf1jw it's fuzzy because it's a holographic projection from a laser. Secondly that fuzz if you are target focused like you should be with any other red dot style optic largely disappears. Lastly the fuzz is physical voids and helps with light transmission especially under night vision. One more thing to add yes LED emitters under magnifiers do increase in size when zoomed because of how they are projected onto an single pane of glass against a reflective coating to act as a mirror. You are physically increasing the size of the dot when you zoom which is why for people with astigmatism it becomes especially egregious.
@@PretendtoImagine-k9fthe clarity doesn't really mean too much unless the glass or tint quality is especially egregious. There's more of a range from acceptable to excellent. The problem you can have with a true red dot sight is if you have astigmatism no amount of glass clarity is going to help you. Easiest way to see this is if you hold your phone in camera mode behind your optic with the dot on. If it looks like a perfect dot and not some form of starburst then guess what.... You have astigmatism like the vast majority of people. Having said all of this some red dots are worse than others and sometimes turning the brightness down can really help. My issue is I usually keep my brightness setting on whatever the brightness light exposure is I plan on experiencing whether that's outside in the sun or having to use a white light indoors in a dark environment. About the only exception I tend to make is for night vision for obvious reasons. YMMV.
Two things. Sig 4xt pro? Also, single dot eotech but if you need reference you can use a 3 or 5x but! Using a prism style optic in place of the magnifier?
I really prefer the EOTECH and specifically the Exps 3-2. I am good with it from point blank to 400 yards with a magnifier. I also have a ton of reps with it. The lack of reference with single dot aiming solutions make them less effective in my opinion.
My only issue with holosun is every optic I’ve had I’ve had to warranty, albeit only 5 but 5/5 isn’t great, my aems stopped working after a 4 month stint in my closet after zeroing the rifle, buttons stopped making adjustments and dot would flicker randomly.
That’s just weird. I only have 4 Holosun’s and they have all been good to go for 2 years for 2 of them and 3 years for the other two. I’ve heard a couple other people claim issues with theirs. But that just hasn’t been my experience. My brother has the same SCS as I do and he had a slight problem with his. The Stadia on his circle (I never use the circle myself) wasn’t exactly at 12, 6, 3 and 9. He sent it back and within 10 days they sent him a new one that was right.
I manage a retail gun store. We've sold hundreds if not thousands of Holosuns. Ive sent exactly one back to Holosun for warranty, and it ended up being a bent connection in a battery cover that could be bent back by hand. Ive had a customers gun fall off the bed of his truck at highway speed, gun bounces down the road, Holosun still worked, even though it was falling off the gun with 2 broken mounting screws. If you got 5/5 defective holosuns, you are cursed and you should visit a priest to help you with that.
Everything is a compromise. Not faulting anyone for their favorite, as every option has pros and cons. My personal go to is a 1 to 6 FFP LPVO with BDC reticle. That doesn’t mean it’s best for you. The most important thing is to know your tools, and you do that with training, use and repetition. Stay frosty.
it also has nearly the same window size as the eotech but with less weight and bulk
Eotech helps me maintain target focus… I tend to visually get sucked into tubes more (although practicing occluded has helped me a lot).

A normal red dot grows when you use a magnifier. The clarity matters when using a magnifier, as you are no longer using both eyes.

Have you tried the Gold reticle color? If so, how does it compare to red/green?

Have you noticed any distortion with the aems, either magnified or unmagnified?
Mr.Park Have you talked to Matt Pranka about reactivating to the ring on transtioning to near targets ? If so what’s his take on it ?
What about the AEMS Max?
I think some of everyone's restless optic syndrome is trying to find the aiming system that works best for them, may not what other use/recommend.
What is "at distance?" Is that beyond 50 yards? 100 yards? Curious

Very peculiar failure. My AEMS is going strong after two years. For what it is it's in my opinion the perfect true red dot.
I've had the same number of Holosuns die, and one of the warranty replacements was even DOA itself.

Strange my AEMS has been bouncing around in my patrol car for over a year and has been flawless.

they make eotechs with just a dot and no donut nowadays
EXPS3-1
I got a couple Romeo 5’s 🤷
I have the holosun that looks like the eotech but it's cheaper and it has the circle dot

EXPS3-1 FTW. The circle is a waste.
