The Hollywood Squares thing is pure un-cut Jackie. He was obsessed with getting a big break away from Howard but every opportunity to do so, he never failed to choke. Jackie's like Pinnochio, a puppet who dreams of being real, and it just can't happen.
Jackie stand-up was poor, but he was a perfect fit for the Stern show because of his writing, train wreck lifestyle and delusional wife. He never realized how good he had it. He was doing strip clubs in S. Carolina before Howard.
Howard knew Jackie so well. Jackie pretends "they told me to hold up my CD" and Howard said, "no Jackie you brought it with you and said where's the best place to hold it, that's not THEM telling you to push it". Jackie is quite mad.
