    Just a tip - when I did my replacement sills (not VW) I pull the rubber door seals that made things a bit easier to line up. Looks awesome Mark!

    I love the guys at NGP. There very helpful. You need to bring the mk7 out to Deliverence it usually in August at dominion raceway every year. I believe ngp is a sponsor

    I need to find some of those for my Audi. I’ve just got PPF on there right now. I even added some PPF to metal trim piece with the LED line on the inside of the door seal. Those plastic seal guards are great. Keep up the good work.

    I found following these instructions I couldn't get the guards to sit flush with the sill. Where he says tuck in and drop in place the backing tape comes in contract with the car before the guard is flush with sill leaving a small space between the guard and car's sill. You can see in the video where he keeps having to pull it away trying to get it to sit properly.
    What I found worked for me was to first test fit the guard, put a piece of masking tape on the sill of the car at the forward edge of the guard to mark where it should sit. Then remove the tape backing on the guard from the upper strip and on the lower strip only peel an inch or so and fold it so it is sticking out below the guard. With the guard away from the car line up the front edge with your masking tape reference and with the top of the guard sitting tight on the sill slide towards the car until the tape comes into contact and gently press into place. Then remove the backing on the lower tape strip by pulling it out along the bottom while gently pressing lower portion of the guard into place. If the tape comes into full contact before the guard is sitting properly you will have an extremely hard time removing it.

    The best way to install them is to pull the red tape just a tad so that you
    Can pull the rest later after you placed the sill guard and double check the placement, do it wrong ( easy to do) and you’ll be rubbing the door and scratch the bottom of the door.
    Once in place pull the red tape slowly as you push , DO NOT take the red part of the tape off at once like shown on this video. Otherwise nice video

    Dude, They look super nice, you know that they make one for the rear also right? Check out the maxpider ones for the a3 they are supposed to fit and cheaper than their gti versions.

    How are these holding up? Thinking about getting some.

    • @LastHumansGarage
      @LastHumansGarage  5 років тому

      They held up fine. Just make sure you install them nice and flush flat and you won't have any issues.

    Thanks for the video, how have these held up? I saw people talking about rubbing (in the rear doors?). Also water, etc getting under the sills. These seem really well designed though. Just installed mine and they seem fine. :)

      @LastHumansGarage  5 років тому

      well i do still have them installed.. sure in a couple spots they don't stick down tight, but they don't rub anywhere. i bet they are very dirty underneath, but at least my paint wont be scratched much

    I've been thinking of getting sill protection too. Thanks for making the video.
    What other brands of floor mats do you recommend? WeatherTech ones look good but are expensive and I don't like having the giant "WeatherTech" logo on them. You have two kids right? I'm sure they get messy! What kind of leather protection do you put on your seats for their inevitable spills?

    • @LastHumansGarage
      @LastHumansGarage  6 років тому

      there isnt much choice aside from Wethertech mats.. i use detailpro.com products, they are my detail sponsor. i use their leather lotion for my seats.

    I bought these last year after watching your video but have yet to install them. I ended up trading in my ‘15 TDI for an ‘18 R. Are you still using them or are they one of the mods you didn’t end up liking?

    • @LastHumansGarage
      @LastHumansGarage  5 років тому

      i took mine off, but I had a self caused install issue. My door panel was touching the sill making a noise. Most likely, due to an install position issue, these are very picky for install spot, and you need to seat them very tight so they don't pop up a bit and touch the door panel causing a squeak. Some people have had great luck with them.

    No disrespect but those look to be installed backwards. The curves should face the front and the straight edge towards the rear. I apologize if I am wrong but I think it would look better that way. JMO
