What is your earliest experience with accessibility on a computer? Mine was changing the resolution of the display in windows 98 to enlarge the menus at the cost of pixelation.

Mine was cleaning temps and learning what defragmentation does...

Windows magnifier on Windows XP. Terrible. But better than nothing!

I preferred ZoomText on windows but it did cost money. Magnifier is at least there, you're right.

When you said, “That’s not Alex” haha. Actually that’s the voice that for some reason loads for me when I’m updating MacOS and it’s on the status bar screen. I have to mute it because it sounds so old school. Can’t believe the zoom commands as well as the invert colors command are still the same. Shows that they made a good foundation for future updates.

That Mac in this video was my first computer. Are used that Mac up until I needed a new computer and ended up buying a Windows computer and since then I’ve always used windows. Now I really want to switch back to using a Mac since I saw the new iMac and how beautiful it is! I’ve always wanted to upgrade but now I am definitely saving for that new iMac and yellow! I want the yellow one because it will look absolutely beautiful on my desk in my room which has yellow walls! :-) It’s one of my favorite colors

That a voice at the tutorial is Fred. Alex only came out in leopard and above. I am actually 16 years old but I’m into older tech, and i actually managed to emulate a Power Mac G4 in qemu. I don’t know if you have noticed, but the new version of Fred sounds a bit different from the old one.

    Hi James,
This truly takes me back to the early days of Mac computers. Now, I did not have this type of Mac, but I had a Macintosh desktop in 2006. I remember the early days of voiceover were not as advanced as they are now. If I can recall correctly, I believe that voiceover didn’t even read my documents correctly. I remember being in maybe fourth or fifth grade, doing homework on my computer, and voiceover didn’t even let me know when a word was misspelled. I also remember the early days of JAWS. Man, I don’t miss that setup process at all! I don’t know if this is just me, but I believe that the setup process for JAWS was much longer in 2004 than it is now. Correct me if I’m wrong. Anyway, I truly enjoyed this video! Keep up the excellent work!

That was interesting to watch. I’ve never used a Mac, but maybe someday I’ll get the chance. It’s interesting to see how far voiceover is come in the last several years.

I’ve used the max in the Apple store before and I love their accessibility features they are just so expensive! I’ve never had the discipline to save that much money for a computer LOL

I've been using Macs for the past ten years, and cannot look back to Windows as a daily driver. Just not worth the constant headaches of software problems and sub-par hardware. Please go through About This Mac to get the specs of your machine. If 800 MHz, then Tiger is your last official stop, but anything faster will run Leopard. You may also have to upgrade the RAM past 512 MB, and those iMac G4 units are interesting because they have one laptop module and one desktop module inside.
I'm totally blind, and use VoiceOver in my day to day life, but had no idea of Mac OS accessibility until 2010, 2011.
