Pathophysiology of Malaria [Life cycle of the plasmodium parasite, Common symptoms]

This video talks about the pathophysiology of Malaria, including the different plasmodium species that can cause malaria in humans (P. falciparum, P. malariae, P. ovale, P. vivax, and P.knowlesi). We describe the life cycle of the parasite and explain how it causes the disease in humans (erythrocytic schizogony, haemolytic anaemia, etc...). We then focus on Plasmodium falciparum infections, as they are the most deadly and explain why. Finally, we talk about the common symptoms of Malaria.
