Still, I’m sure Reeves’ attention to detail and emphasis on themes will be great for a DCU Arkham and it’ll be good to have his guiding hand there as well.
Yup and we can actually get the comic accurate fantastical villains. James has teased comic accurate joker and clayface multiple times maybe they’ll appear in this series
As much as I wanted the Arkham series to be set in the Batverse, I still think the series will still be great. If they still keep the “haunted house” feel to the series then we have nothing to worry about. Still looking forward to seeing DCU’s Batman’s rogues gallery.
I just wanna see them just adapt “Arkham Asylum : Living Hell” and keep the comedy and horror elements.. one of the best non-Batman, Batman stories of civilians in Gotham
Yes, you're right! It will be a great series for the DCU. Too bad this is going to FUCK YUMMY with the development and introduction of new villains and the exploration of Arkham and Gotham from The Batman Saga - whose potential and quality we already have an idea of, unlike the DCU.
I actually don't mind at all that the Arkham series is part of the DCU. Now, we got the potential to see the fantastical characters like Killer Croc, Clayface, and many others in the series.
I was surprised by this at first but now that I’ve thought about it more it makes more sense, the DCU Batman will apparently be more experienced meaning he’ll have a more fleshed out rogues gallery to use.
This makes me so exicted. This allows the show to become even more spookier and darker than before when you possibly have literal monsters like Killercroc or Clayface in that 'haunted house'

Hey Boba! Thanks for doing the detective work for us lol... It does make sense because Gunn said only half of Gods and Monsters has been announced. I actually think it's more exciting being in the DCU because it means another Arkham. We already have the one in The Reevesverse. I'm happy knowing DCU Batman will have lots of villains.
I think Reeves directing this could be a stroke of genius. Who better to make sure this doesn't feel too similar to The Batman Verse than the director himself.
So what I'm getting is it started out as two Batverse show concepts (GCPD and Arkham), then those ideas merged into one show (just Arkham), and that became a DCU thing in time for the pitch meeting with the new studio. Makes sense.
As a snyder guy I'm super excited for James gunn DC Universe and Matt batman world and DC Elseworld hopefully Metal Batman Universe & The batman who laugh introducing The Dark multiverse
I’ll be happy if Reeves has some say in the DCU’s Batman because like you said, he is the GOAT. He knows what he’s doing with the character and I’m excited to see what happens in the DCU now that he has a hand in it
The only real problem I’ve got with this whole thing is: That could mean Reeves’ The Batman won’t focus on Arkham Asylum and it’d be a shame to lose that plot involving Bruce’s mother being an Arkham. They could have connected things in a very interesting way if the show was kept on “The Batman”’s universe.
Ngl, I was really looking forward to this being in The Batman universe with those characters. But as long as Reeves is involved, I’m sure it will still be great.
If we’re being honest here, this concept has more potential in a universe where the rogues gallery is rather established and allowed to be fantastical. The batverse doesn’t hold a lot of space for those concepts, but it’s still Matt’s idea nonetheless which is why he is still involved!
If its in the DCU that mean Batman villains could be used in their full potential, no holding back. We could see Villians like Clayface and Killer croc. Villians we wouldn't even see in the Matt Reeves universe.
That tells me that the tone of his DCU Batverse is going to be much more gritty and grounded with that fantastical element. Excited to see it. Who are you looking forward to seeing most in it brother?
Big win that they're separate but working together. Arkham is good because the Batman will show them all wind up there and Brave and the Bold will show what happens later without crossing over or overlapping story lines. I've been saying it the whole time. They've been very clever and genius in that area. Unmatched. Now all i need them to say is the Batgirl with Leslie Grace will take place in the extended Reevesverse and it will make my day. Its my birthday too . Im already so happy with this right now. 😂 🦇
Makes sense. Even though Arkham would be awesome in thr Batmans universe , Brave and the Bold takes place so late that it would need Arkham to tell the back stories of some villains since Matt Reeves will likely build on all of them too
I think we will get 2 different Arkham Asylums one for DCU and The Batman universe that Matt Reeves created. We got a small tease of Arkham in Matt Reeves The Batman film but haven't gotten a tease yet for Arkham in the DCU for Gunns universe.
Gunn said that they are not doing that and that It's Reeves decision. Even though it would be cool, it's not gonna happen. The tone of this batman is way too grounded for this fantastical universe.
@@luciusnguyen2449They most likely won't be. By the time Brave and the Bold comes out The Batman 3 will probably have already released, ending the story of that universe. Gunn said that everything outside the DCU will be clearly labelled as an Elseworlds story so there shouldn't be much confusion.
This will not happen! They created "DC Elseworlds" basically to keep Joker and The Batman in separate universes. The DCU's Batman needs to be less grounded than Pattinson's.
@@The.Usurper A part of me still hope that The Brave and the Bold will be a direct sequel to The Batman trilogy. I know it's unlikely but it's easier to build up from what Reeve already established than starting from nothing. Plus, a separate universe would mean that they need to create an uniquie take on the same character to differentiate them from the previous versions which is no easy task. Reeve already created a really good Batman and his plan for the Batman's rogue gallery sounds pretty good too.
Matt Reeves changed the universe of this project and called The Batman universe a crime saga, which shows that he understood that this universe really needs to be very grounded, and a series about Arkham wouldn't be so suitable in such a realistic universe
Maybe the rumored Scarecrow spin-off will be set in Arkham Asylum with the growing rogues while DCU Arkham will be the series with the experienced rogues.
I don't know what to say other than.. Nope. Gunn has responded that the Arkham series is in the DCU, and that Matt Reeves will be producing stories both within the DCU & his The Batman universe which has currently two projects that are in development as of right now - The Batman Part 2 & The Penguin. My guess is simple, The Batmanverse isn't going to last long, they'll probably do the projects that are already greenlit and that's it, and those projects that aren't in pre-production and can be saved will become DCU projects.
I think it all depends on how well Penguin does and then how well The Batman II does. We know they've conceived the universe as a trilogy of films, but there are still murmurings of villain spinoffs in that universe.
The Batman universe might be around for a couple more years because if you see it as a trilogy the 3rd wont be until atleast 2028. We can have shows peppered in between release dates
I believe its a win win. Especially Arkham they can go all out and be fantastical with that batmans villians. That Batman will have the bat family. Matt Reeves Batman will be on his own crime saga. I for one can't wait. The fact Matt Reeves is working on both is pretty awesome!

I still think having two theatrical live-action Batmen (Batmans???) having their own solo film franchises relatively at the exact same time and pit against each other is a bad idea. That's looks more like an implosion just waiting to happen. And NOW they're pivoting the Arkham Asylum TV series from Matt Reeves' The Batman universe and into James Gunn's DCU? WITH Reeves' still attached to produce and possibly direct an episode or more??? Gunn and Reeves should seriously reconsider their current creative stances, check their egos, and just combine universes. Have Reeves' "The Batman" films/TV spin-offs be set in the past of Gunn's DCU, while the Brave and the Bold movie with all the Bat Family be set in the DCU's present with having Robert Pattinson be the main Batman while saving casual audiences from confusion while also saving fans (and thr franchise) from cannibalization. Some folks say that putting The Batman universe in the main DCU is "impossible"... I say that's a big load of BS. Plus, I feel like we're potentially missing greatness in the form of Robert Pattinson's Batman teaming up with David Corenswet's Superman in my humble opinion.
Supuestamente brave and the bold será una película sobre damian no sobre batman además se dice que Peter safran no le gusta batman así que el no aparecerá mucho en en el dcu y the batman solo será una trilogía
While it would have been cool to see Reeves’s take on Arkham I’m honestly pretty happy the show will be set in the DCU instead because it gives a lot more freedom for more fantastical elements. I’m already envisioning the Arkham games brought to life on screen
I think this good play, because parts of the fandom believe the DCU will not work under Warner brothers. While we know Matt Reeves brought in trust with his Batman movies. So the Arkham series will serve the same that my adventures of Superman did. That series has prove that kind hearted Superman can work in the modern age.
I would've loved to have seen a spooky version of Arkham in Reeves Universe, but it being in the DCU will probably be a lot of fun because then we can have the more Supernatural and Fantasy characters so I'm still good with this change
This is a bit different conceptually than what has been talked about from what I know, though I didn’t look very hard so forgive if this has been brought up before. Humor me if you will: DCU Arkham series could be a show that follows different villains for each episode. Imagine maybe 10-12 episodes and each one is about a different Batman RG member. ( hoping for scarecrow, twoface, freeze, poison ivy, bane etc.) Episodes could be about either the origin of the villain if it’s an interesting interpretation of the character or a lesser known villain that has not had a bigger screen showing, or possibly the events leading up to their capture and placement in Arkham. Possibly events while they are in Arkham as well leading up to something as a finale type escape to make the RG members usable as villains in future DCU projects. Main reason I think this could work well is this could be a way to develop and show many Batman RG members that make up the legion of doom if they ever want to go that route. Taking time to develop each villain with their own complex reasons and motivations rather than having to introduce so many Batman villains in the DCU Batman movies. Also as mentioned this could make them usable as characters in other projects without needing to “introduce” many new villains in a DCU project.
The Villians will get to be fantastical in the DCU. If the show is set is Reeves universe we will only get to see grounded villains, i think its better for the show be in the DCU.
hey boba, great video! with this recent news, do you think the rumblings we heard about Reeves developing movies for villains like scarecrow, clayface, and professor pyg, will actually be for the DCU and not The Batman? I know you mentioned scarecrow could be introduced in The Penguin show, but wanted to get your thoughts.
Same. I feel its counterproductive to have two separate competing live-action movie versions of Batman at the same time. Having Robert Pattinson be the main Batman in the DCU would save so many headaches.
It’s been heavily reported that the Arkham spin off was set in the The Batman universe. If that was not the case, why did neither of them correct that? They’re moving goal posts and don’t want to admit it. Gunn was pulled in to tidy everything up, and so much of what he’s doing is just leading to more confusion.
I really think he is going to continue off from The Batman 3 making it sort of a prequel to his batman and at the same time not a prequel. Just giving the audience an idea of what the DCU's batman has gone through in his year 2.
My guess is Matt reeves batman universe will be in the DCU. We will see Rob's batman journey first in initial years in matt's movies then we will see him training his son. I know James has denied this but it looks that way when you collect the dots.
Do you think it's possible the show would actually be an adaptation of Arkham Asylum with Batman as the main character? To me that sounds completely possible. It would also help show him a little more with Tim Drake or Jason Todd before Damian Wayne comes in in the movie.
Like you i love The Batman and what Reeves has created and Pattinson hands down is my favorite Batman but this is not good news from perspective......i was absolutely looking forward to seeing the awesome possibilities after Reeves interview talking about expanding his universe with the Arkham series. After seeing Rob and Barry in the Joker deleted scene i was even more excited and wanted to see more pf that expanded on! I'm sorry but i just don't see any other way to slice it that Gunn took this away from Reeves and turning into his own thing. I would almost guarantee if you were to get a brutally honest response from Reeves hes not happy about it either!! Gunn is supposed to be the co CEO of DC studios as a whole and he only promotes his own stuff! I haven't seen him promoting Joker 2 or The Batman universe at all!!
I wholly disagree with that take. I also am a big fan of Reeves Batman. However, I will not make inferences of my own outside of the actual quotes from James Gunn and Matt Reeves. There is a clear indication according to the quotes from both men that Matt pitched several things during their "air control" meetings. I think your attempting to make James Gunn a scapegoat for a history of the project in which he may not know the origins of. I am not taking away the fact that this began as a spin off of the The Batman. However, and this is the only inference I will make outside of the quotes that Matt Reeves may have seen that it would be better suited to Brave and the Bold. Plus I'm more excited for how the Arkham series would look for a Batman who has possibly been Batman for 10 years as opposed to a Pattinson Batman. Secondly, the possible fantastical elements could enhance the story. Thirdly, there is a bigger potential of Batman appearing on the show as a supporting character. Which seems to be something Pattinson may not be interested in
If they cast Jensen Ackles as Batman I’m all for it, he looks like a young Bruce Wayne, his jaw line and body, same as Ben Affleck looked like old Bruce Wayne. If they write him as a good detective and master of hand to hand combat with awesome gadgets, maybe add the white eyes, then it’s fine to recast. If not I would prefer them to keep Pattinson
imo they should try to fully flesh out the new dcu and the batman universe before they decide weather or not it should all be in the same universe. in other words wait on adding a batman to the new dcu or it could potentially ruin everything.
I don’t have an issue with it as long as Matt Reeves’ Batverse characters isn’t part of the DCU, because if it is it wouldn’t make sense since Rob Pattinson isn’t part of the DCU.
He mentioned several times that the slate was only half of chapter one. Plus the possibility that it is set way after all the mentioned shows should have crossed your mind
I’m cautiously optimistic. As long as they don’t try to make Pattinson resemble the armored-up Batman with the skinny head as he appears in the Arkham games I’m ok with it.
So is he saying that Pattison Batman is now canon to the Gunn's DCU or is the Arkham show going to be a prequel to the DCU Batman the Brave and the Bold?
I'm very excited about this project now. I love Matt Reeves. And while I love his Batman and Gotham, I didn't like The Batman or his version of the Joker. An Arkham series based on Reeves' grounded villains was wholly uninteresting to me. So this is a plus from my perspective. I am concerned about this recent trend of just giving us the worst version of the Joker. Two of the past three movie Jokers have been absolutely atrocious.

Humor me if you will:
DCU Arkham series could be a show that follows different villains for each episode. Imagine maybe 10-12 episodes and each one is about a different Batman RG member. ( hoping for scarecrow, twoface, freeze, poison ivy, bane etc.)
Episodes could be about either the origin of the villain if it’s an interesting interpretation of the character or a lesser known villain that has not had a bigger screen showing, or possibly the events leading up to their capture and placement in Arkham.
I 100 % would prefer a Arkham show set in The Batman universe. Still the DCU Arkham show could turn out to be good.
The Villians will get to be fantastical in the DCU. If the show is set is Reeves universe we will only get to see grounded villains, i think its better for the show be in the DCU.
8:19 I remember now It took me a minute, but yes, I'll catch. You know you're talking about before both universes of batman to coexist
hey boba, great video! with this recent news, do you think the rumblings we heard about Reeves developing movies for villains like scarecrow, clayface, and professor pyg, will actually be for the DCU and not The Batman?
I know you mentioned scarecrow could be introduced in The Penguin show, but wanted to get your thoughts.
I’m going cry because Arkham asylum was my childhood
I just wan Robert pattinson in DCU
Same. I feel its counterproductive to have two separate competing live-action movie versions of Batman at the same time. Having Robert Pattinson be the main Batman in the DCU would save so many headaches.
Great video boba as always can't wait for more 🙏
In other words, Reeves is pulling double duty. His "The Batmanverse" is Elseworlds, and The Arkham series in the DCU...
kinda disappointed its not in the batverse. i was hyped for more barry Joker. EDIT: just watched the vid. I am now hyped for DCU arkham show
Great video keep it up you're doing amazing things 😁👍
Where’d you get that sweater? It’s awesome!
This shit shook my brain
For now I just hope to see more Arkham Asylum and inmates in the future TBP pt 2 or 3 but its still a huge W if Goat Reeves involved in DCU batman
Please tell me where you got that sweater
Matt Reeves is the only person who understands Batman and what he stands for cuz right now comic Batman is getting the Spider-Man treatment.
Well that solves the Batman casting problem
It’s been heavily reported that the Arkham spin off was set in the The Batman universe. If that was not the case, why did neither of them correct that?
They’re moving goal posts and don’t want to admit it.
Gunn was pulled in to tidy everything up, and so much of what he’s doing is just leading to more confusion.
EXECTLY! JAMES GUNN LIER!
The pitch Gunn and Safran heard never changed. So he’s correct. The Arkham pitch and the Arkham batverse ideas aren’t the same
I’m curious what Matt Reeves could do with Wonder Woman.
This makes me happy because we're going to see more of batmans outlandish villains
I really think he is going to continue off from The Batman 3 making it sort of a prequel to his batman and at the same time not a prequel. Just giving the audience an idea of what the DCU's batman has gone through in his year 2.
So basically Matt Reeves is kinda like the CEO of Batman
Did Reeves even know it was a DCU project? 😂
My guess is Matt reeves batman universe will be in the DCU. We will see Rob's batman journey first in initial years in matt's movies then we will see him training his son. I know James has denied this but it looks that way when you collect the dots.
Thats what im thinking, hectic !
Do you think it's possible the show would actually be an adaptation of Arkham Asylum with Batman as the main character? To me that sounds completely possible. It would also help show him a little more with Tim Drake or Jason Todd before Damian Wayne comes in in the movie.
In Reeves We Trust !!
two batmen is wild
If they nerf the darkness it’s gonna be a sad day for comics.
Which seems to be something Pattinson may not be interested in
EXECTLY!!!!
He isn't even a young Bruce Wayne, he's early 40s, around the same age batman should be in the dcu, he's already played it, its absolutely perfect
using thr arkham series to set up a live action no man's land would be epic!
What will the Arkham Series look like as far as character development ???
If Arkham is DCU, I say they do the original pitch for GPD as a Batverse series.
imo they should try to fully flesh out the new dcu and the batman universe before they decide weather or not it should all be in the same universe. in other words wait on adding a batman to the new dcu or it could potentially ruin everything.
I don’t have an issue with it as long as Matt Reeves’ Batverse characters isn’t part of the DCU, because if it is it wouldn’t make sense since Rob Pattinson isn’t part of the DCU.
My question is, why didn’t he mention the show when he did his whole spiel?
He mentioned several times that the slate was only half of chapter one. Plus the possibility that it is set way after all the mentioned shows should have crossed your mind
Great breakdown of events up until Gunns comments. But honestly this was common sense. If anyone was confused it was because they choose to be.
I’m cautiously optimistic. As long as they don’t try to make Pattinson resemble the armored-up Batman with the skinny head as he appears in the Arkham games I’m ok with it.
wonderbat… how do you feel about it being explored in this universe?
Keep calm love Warner Bros
so arkham is NOT in the universe of the batman? weird
Just integrate Batverse in the DCU. It doesnt sit well, we are doing multiple Reeves take on Batman
So is he saying that Pattison Batman is now canon to the Gunn's DCU or is the Arkham show going to be a prequel to the DCU Batman the Brave and the Bold?
I explain in the video (no, Pattinson is separate).
Two of the past three movie Jokers have been absolutely atrocious.
im not too sold on that I was hoping Arkham was set in the batman universe
The Arkham show NEEDS to be DCU… you just said it, “to get the off the rails, 10-12 Bat tech BatFamily Rouges version”
I m ok with it aslong we get joker in the batman sequel
So is Patterson going to be the Batman for DCU?
No
*We literally have James Gunn and Matt Reeves* spearheading DC *together* and mf’s still complain 🤦🏽♂️
Fr!!! Two of some or the best modern directors and producers
Screw those people. Let us be excited because that’s what matters.
Exactly. Two master cbm directors at work is amazing
