Looks beautiful on you. Well done. Can I suggest that it's a good idea to pre- wash cottons and trim off and don't use the selvedge, to protect from shrinkage problems.
So I just finished making a skirt!!! It took me less than a day and this is the first thing I’ve ever made. It looks pretty great I think I’m going to add lining because it’s pretty de through i got a blue floral rayon fabric. I really messed up the waist part but other than that it’s not bad! Thank you!
Wow I am a newbie too… found this so helpful and easy to understand. Gonna try it now and I love being in the midst of newbies coz we are all trying ☺️
Hi, I love this tutorial and I'm trying to follow it, but for some reason the marks that I make for my hip measurements are not the same from the top on both sides. I've tried multiple times and even folding the fabric differently but I'm still having the same problem. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Do you know how I could fix this problem? Thanks so much!
Yes I found this too. I’m using rayon which moves around a bit. Because this fabric is bias cut (across the grain) it will stretch even if it’s not a stretchy fabric. Helps if you pin both long edges of the triangle in place so it doesn’t move around as much. Or maybe iron the fabric if it’s really wrinkly. It is tricky though …
This is an awesome tutorial! I have kiiinda started sewing. Have a stunning floral fabric I bought and been looking for a project to use it for. I’ll definitely be giving this skirt a try. Hoping to see more of these tutorials in the future!
I think it's because she has the elastic folded in half when she cuts it. So if you don't fold it in half to cut and measure it should be your waist measurement minus 2 cm (I think...)
@hannahmarie5103 Correct, you will minus 2 inches.Because you want the waist to feel secure when you wear it and not to feel like it's too loose or the skirt will hang crooked.
Hey, it was a bit tight so you kinda have to squeeze into it but if it’s not tight then once it’s on your waist it would be too loose again haha! But yes I did stretch the elastic a bit when sewing and I think that definitely helps ☺️
@@SuiZaathang thanks!😃 Ok 😃😁 can you do a video with a invisible zip? Or have you already done one? Thanks 😊 Can you do an international giveaway soon? Can I have a shout out in your next video? (As Alicia Lima who is 12 )thanks again 😅😆😁 I would really love one!
@@kun1827 you have to kind of pull the elastic as you sew it on to the skirt (not too hard, just a bit), I didn’t put a zipper on (not skilled enough for this yet haha)
Measure from your waist to your ankles (or wherever you want your skirt to end). When you’ve cut the top section, that is, the opening for your waist, don’t cut the bottom section. Sew the long edge together and the elastic as shown and when you’ve done this pin the fabric up measuring the top of the skirt to ankle measurement. (This might be messy as there’ll be lots of spare fabric). You could just cut your waist to ankle measurements plus 2 cm for the hem but this won’t allow for bum and hips especially for more shapely women which would shorten the skirt once you’ve put it on, so I’d only cut once you adjust the pins to get the length you want. Cut there but remember to allow 2cm extra for the bottom hem. I hope this helps!

How much fabric do you need if you’re going to the store?
Can you do hand manual sewing ?
Love the fabric!
Great video! I was wondering what the purpose of the zig zag stitch was at 2:59? I am new to sewing
I don't know if you're still looking for an answer but usually when I see people using this technique it's to help the fabric not fray
woe thank you..can l make a side slit in the skirt
Great job! Thank you.
Thank you!
How did you measure the elastic band lengthwise? Because taking my waist and halfing it and subtracting 2 cm is way too small!
I think it's because she has the elastic folded in half when she cuts it. So if you don't fold it in half to cut and measure it should be your waist measurement minus 2 cm (I think...)

Yay!! Good luck ❤️
Very nice like it
Is that rayon or knit fabric?
Rayon 😊
How did it stretch over your hips? If the fabric has no stretch should I cut the opening at my hip measurement?
@@rubymaggard1607 the elastic waist band helps to get it over your hips 😊
ive marked 46 cm but somehow one side is always longer than the other from the top :(
Can the fabric be stretchy or does it have to be a non-stretch fabric?
You can try with a stretchy fabric too!! Whatever you prefer 😊
@@SuiZaathang ok thank you!

does the fabric have to be stretchy?
Nope, the fabric I used is not stretchy

@@kun1827 you have to kind of pull the elastic as you sew it on to the skirt (not too hard, just a bit), I didn’t put a zipper on (not skilled enough for this yet haha)
@@kun1827 She measured her hips so that the skirt would pull up past her hips. So that means she does not need a zipper to pull it up.
Does anyone have any suggestions for turning this into a maxi skirt?
