I am an experienced project manager with both certification of PMP and PRINCE2 .. Recently, I got 4-days classroom Agile training, I confidently state that watching just few of your videos was more informative to me that that poor course. Well done Sally. You were to lay down concepts in simple and concise manner, more importantly, your real life experience enriched the course contents and value I am gooing to attend all videos and seminars at agile training
Correction: the scrum team is the development team + PO + SM. The team without the latter two is the development team. It's very important to get the terminology right. Also: the size of a development team is 3-9, not 7 +- 2. Answer that on your assessment and you will fail that question. Last point: their focus is not to maximize the ROI. That's the PO's focus. Their focus is to reach the sprint goal. Other than that: good stuff. A lot better than much of the other videos around.
Excellent video, really top class. So many videos out there talk about Scrum and Project Managers and they completely miss the point that there is no "command and control" and no PM with Scrum. You really hit the nail on the head with the section on the Scrum Master role. So many people get bogged down in the fact that scrum has sprints and product backlogs (which of course it does) but what's essential is the concept and implementation of self organizing and cross functional teams.
tcmak - I agree with you. I really meant to say Agile in general is tailored to fit each company's needs but Scrum is pretty strict. I also said Scrum isn't a methodology or a method so I'd like to clarify that it IS an Agile 'method' but more of a framework rather than a prescriptive methodology. Gota love video recording! as I watch them I find several of these little things I could have said differently :) Everyone else who has been watching and providing feedback - THANK YOU!!
I'm a JIRA Administrator and in some companies I'm required to gather requirements and facilitate scrum meetings. I work as a product manager and a Scrum Master. Real world is different from what the book says.
very excellant.sally. your program in sudan next gen absolutley was perfect as we are professional leaving in uk we are ready to support you for everything to take sudan to the next gen
extremely useful video. liked how the speaker started from traditional project delivery and moved on to the scrum/agile process. good for learning. also impressed with the speakers deep understanding of the concepts of the varied roles like scrum master and other roles..thanks
Wow, I've been going to System Analysis and Design that's teaching scrum and understood maybe 5% of what the fellow was teaching. Thank you! I understand now.
Good presentation and in adherence with scrum guidelines; Area of improvement slide "SCRUM ROLES : THE TEAM" 11:34 min (time) you can make it more precise by making it "SCRUM ROLES : THE Development TEAM", the size of the team is 3-9 not 7 (+- 2) and its part of the scrum team .

Hello, I've stumbled across your many videos. I am very interested in taking a course and take the test and interview to become a Scrum Master. Where do I start to get ready for the test. Where do i take the test? and What do I need before taking the test? I have been watching all your SCRUM 101 for 2 months now. please help
This system just seems like a way to extract even more from the employees, by forcing them to help in other roles than their own "because why not" , while maintaining the same pay and hiring less people.
Actually it improves their chance for an eventual pay increase by exposing them to multiple roles. Testers see what Developers do, and it helps prepare them for a developer role. A business analyst sees how the Scrum Master functions, and aspires to that certification. Scrum teams share an investment in their own quality, being self-organizing which leads to improved morale and engagement. You sound like you might be coming from a bargained-labor environment, a very different culture from big tech.
I have a question. On the Scrum website, there is an assessment test... 1. Does that assessment lock you out after you take it? 2. Can you take it multiple times? 3. If so, do the questions change?
I have a process & methodology consultant interview soon. They need someone to come in and usher the team into a more agile approach. I believe this can help, any tips?
At 0:36, she said Scrum is a framework, not a methodology or method; which is correct. But at 1:26 she said Scrum is the most popular "method" in Agile that has been adopted widely! Who did the QA check on this video?!
Everyone and their brother calls Scrum an "Agile Methodology", including the prestigious college that I spent way too much money at. Not sure what she is blabbing about...
"Scrum is a process framework that has been used to manage complex product development since the early 1990s. Scrum is not a process or a technique for building products; rather, it is a framework within which you can employ various processes and techniques." . . . such as .NET is a framework for development

Somehow Ms. Elatta has made Scrum understandable to me. She's a talented presenter.

The focus is on value-driven delivery apart from achieving the goal / objective
Hard to believe that this is from 2011. Done so well.
Yeah because 2011 was 100 years ago right? Lol
