Yes, I love that ssc! - it also changes the way the top loops of the stitch sit on top of the fabric, it's great for mosaic crochet, because it makes the front loop easier to work into, as it sits more on top of the row, rather than lying against the edge. You can see the difference easily when swatching, making normal sc's next to ssc's. Thanks Sandy!!!
Thank you sooo much! I've crocheted for almost a decade now, but in all those years, never heard of tapestry crochet. Your tips and videos on it make its complicated style seem easier to pull off. I can't wait to try my first tapestry crochet project. Your work is so lovely!
Thank you :-) I think the fact that it is actually easy is one of it's 'selling' points. It only looks complicated and difficult. If you haven't already found it, I'm doing a series that's teaching Tapestry Crochet, and I'm starting right at the beginning. Just dive onto my channel and check out the play list called "Tapestry Crochet Lessons". I've just started it so there's no catching up.
Thank you so much for posting this! I really appreciate the detailed step-by-step explanation of movement and where the yarn should be on stitches. You're very clear and informative.
Thank you. There aren't many people that have heard of the square single crochet. I was blessed to have belonged to a club, around 40 years ago, filled with older Ladies that loved sharing. So I learned things from WAY back, lol. I guess I'm one of those 'older Ladies' now, lol.
Because I've had surgery on my wrist (many years ago), I primarily use this. It eases a bit of the wrist tension. It's also great for folks who have carpal tunnel. I am so glad you enjoyed this.
Well, don't count on it. But, there is a chance I'll come out of retirement to share it. There have been several requests. I thank you for being another request.
Great video. Great information. I was trying to get a cleaner stitch for my graphghans. I saw in comments where you were redoing some of your videos to get closer; I am wondering if you would include color change with this stitch, please. And, I wasn't quite sure if you said you were going through the back loop only, but thought it looked like it. Thank you.
First, yes it's back loop only. Second, unfortunately I won't be doing more videos. I'm retired and on a fixed income. Because of that I don't have the money to buy video equipment (and what I was using is totally broken). So please just relax and enjoy what's available. I'm staying here and answering questions.
Thanks for the great video showing the technique. However, it's too far away to see well. Can you zoom in on your work so we can get a better view? Thanks!!
Hi Sheryl, many of those first videos I did are going to be redone. Honestly, they were shot using an old tablet (the only thing I had at the time) and not only did I not know to make videos, the tablet didn't have a lot of options. A few folks have told me that I need to get closer and I truly THANK the folks who have pointed this out and helped me learn. THANK YOU.

Thank you for sharing, I love this stitch. I think I will be using this sc stitch more than the other way.

This is beautiful. Would've loved to see how you started this. Thank you.

Can you do this with hdc ?
I’ve always called that modified single crochet 😀
Hi, I have a question. can you do this on the flat tapestry crochet with this stitch on the blanket?

I looked for this pattern but could nit find it. Is it available for purchase. Thanks for the tips as well.
Hi Sandy...great video...i have a pattern that says modified sc....is that the same as the Square sc? I just want to make sure...tyia Fran 💜🐱🐨
I've never heard of a modified single crochet. If the pattern doesn't specifically tell you, I'd find a way to contact the pattern creator.
