Miss Tan is one of the most versatile female singer in the world! I don't ever recall someone who can incorporate so many different techniques and styles of singing all into one song and make it sound so smoothly beautiful. A true national treasure!
The song conveys a profound sense of nostalgia for one's homeland and cherished relatives, especially when she sang "hi, are you there", she was saying to her father in heaven
Her version of this song used to be the best version to me for years until the Tibetan mother-son duo made their own version. These two versions are equally good in my opinion nowadays.
Oh no.. you've missed the last two lines of the song which captured so much of her emotions 😢 She's such a versatile singer, hope that you would react more to her. Here's one of her more recent live performances on The Singer 2024: ua-cam.com/video/JhDfL3tSkvQ/v-deo.html
What a shame you didn’t watch the subtitled version ! You would have understood just how moving this song was. She had partially changed the lyrics to address her recently deceased father, adding to its emotional depth. It is also poignant because, much like in Tengri’s Heaven, it is a lament for the once-lush grasslands of Inner Mongolia, now desertified and ravaged by massive industrialization. Wei Wei, a Sichuanese singer, studied under a Tibetan vocal coach and thus mastered those high-pitched singing techniques, much like other Mongolian singers (such as Daiqing Tana from the band Haya, for instance). Here, accompanied by the band Hanggai, Wei Wei sang like a true Mongolian, though in Mandarin. (By the way, why did you stop watching before the end of the song, when her eyes were brimming with tears?) It’s worth noting another version of A Night in Ulan Bator, quite different but equally deeply beautiful, performed by Zhou Shen and the Mongolian band Anda Union.

Tan Weiwei dedicated this song to her late father. Which was why she was so emotional

Thanks for the suggestion! And thanks for watching!!
@@ChineseMusic4Nikki推薦:周深與安達樂團合作的‘’烏蘭巴托的夜‘’更好聽。請有空也播出,謝謝妳的解說。
