      The chase made it original. Sure, visual effects 40 years later are more impressive, yet nothing beats the horror of escaping an unstoppable robot.

      @@AndreiBYhappyDon't get me wrong, i LOVE LOVE LOVE this movie, but the chase is straight out of a slasher film, what do you mean original? The Terminator is literally a sci-fi/thriller with slasher elements. The T-800 is an unstoppable, near invulnerable killer that stalks Sarah Connor, not unlike Michael Myers or Jason Vorhees. Slashers was very much in style throughout the 80's and into the 90's. Even the early 2000's.

    • @AndreiBYhappy
      @AndreiBYhappy 7 місяців тому +3

      @@placeholdername3206 I mean Cameron's approach was novel.
      Yes, I've seen some slashers from the '80s and '90s. Hollywood made a fortune on them. Yet the Terminator was different.
      Cameron based T-800 on a cyborg he saw in a nightmare. An unstoppable machine from the future. Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese didn't have access to proper 2029 technology to deal with this imminent threat. I hadn't known Hollywood encourages filmmakers to write a happy end -- it was my first Hollywood movie.
      I believed Arnie would execute her. That was the whole advantage of time travel -- a robot will always beat a human soldier. I like the finale -- cornering the protagonist in a cage, in a seemingly hopeless situation. I focused on the futuristic aspects of the movie, and wouldn't mind Sarah dying.
      In other words, the Terminator was less about psychopathic obsession, and more about potential risks of technology. Considering recent developments in AI and robotics, makes me wonder.

      And why T-800 went to the police station? Because there was his main target. It tried to avoid the fight there, because it was risky ("I'm a friend of Sarah Connor. I was told she is here", scene with "I'll be back"), but it had no other options.

      It’s because burglaries, and thefts were done primarily with pistols due to their small size and ease of concealment, in addition to being useable at further distances to still be lethal. Shotguns were mainly for home defense, and giving a wait period on them would hurt business too much for gun shops, so they had to draw the line somewhere

    For those who say Terminator 3 is bad, this is what a good Terminator movie should be like, something James Cameron forgot in part 2.

    I hate how Arnold got out of the station wagon and merrily hops up the kerb before throwing the guy from the phone. That’s not robotic at all. I can’t believe Cameron let that take slide.

      That part was a challenge here. Put yourself in Cameron's situation. You want to make a movie about robot that imitates human behaviour to blend in, but at the same time you want to make it robotic. I think this is why it's a mix of both, robotic and humanlike.

    I feel like the T800 feels a bit more human in this movie than in T2, the movements are a bit more fluid, and Arnold being younger really makes it feel more like a psychopath, in some way, he blends more like this
    In T2 Arnold perfected the entire machine thing, but that also makes it stand out more, it blends because John and Sarah can do the talking
