For wood ducks I use my mouth and whistle, speckle-bellied geese a triple reed turkey mouth call and also my mouth. For snows I use the same for specks because snows will go where specks are because specks are more wary.

People ask me, what is it with you and duck hunting? My answer is almost identical to Jason's here in this video starting at 2:55. Sure, there's more to life than a duck, but a lot can be learned in the woods and waters.

I'll put any of them up against Jase in a contest and bet the house....because thats what this is about and what he's preaching about, contest callers.
Have you ever tried main street calling. I can't say that I am a fan of Duckcommander calls but I love the show. I just don't like how he puts down a sport when he really doesn't understand the sport at all its not to go the longest or loudest. in fact theirs a 90 second time limit and you only have to be loud enough for the judges to hear you. its about call control and showing the range of the call. practicing main street will truly make you a more rounded caller.

When I first told my pops that I wanted to learn to call, he purposefully "forgot" the guns for 2 mornings in a row and made me sit there and listen to the ducks interacting with each other. They don't sound like that blow hard competition spew, they sound like what Jase just demonstrated. Jase doesn't get up at 4am to win a trophy, he gets up to go kill ducks.

I know this is old comment, but Jace is trying to say that the fact we label the worlds best duck caller when it sounds nothing like a hen would sound like. Yeah if you want to make a competition about who has more control over pressures of air in a duck call then sure but those duck callers couldn't compete to the best duck hunters that actually hunt the ducks. Not saying they couldn't pull in ducks but with the same setup as an advid duck hunter and these so called world class duck callers, the advid duck hunters would pull in more flocks then any world class duck callers. Their family business of duck call design has made them Millionaires long before the had a reality show on A&E. I would say Jase has more room to talk on the issue than you do!

I dont know about anyone else having these stupid arguments, but call how you want. Me personally I like to kill ducks. Calling "like a duck" and not a "champion" gets the job done just fine. You want to call like a champ then go ahead. That leaves more ducks for me. I have a lot of respect for the whole Robertson family. Someone has got to go to Louisiana and sit Phil, jase, si, and the rest of them down and actually go through a duck calling contest routine and actually explain the purpose of it.
