- Last Winters storm blew down our elder tree and we thought we're going to loose it. It turned out to be blessing, giving us more shelter and easier access to flowers and berries.

I love that, what a clever idea Martin! My last hen passed a month ago, she was at least 14 and still laying every other year :)
Wow i didn't chickens could live that long! hah
Love your cat Martin we have a tigre here in France like him he is unvaxxed and lives on raw chicken wings! We use bio mixed grain which I ferment by soaking ahead in water for 2 -3 days in the tunnel - this ferments it, cracks the grains and chucks love it! Have you got cockerills? We have 10 chucks now (5 new girls) and 2 cockerlls. We have to grow any berries behind pumpkin and such because it gets to hot - I am hoping it works. I have loads of valerian and lemonbalm for T this year! We are visiting Ireland this year with our son in the UK staying at a place called Skartelakillin Ballydehob - it costs a lot in air fare from France. I have planted my toms and aubergines despite the cold spell we have had. I will try to get on your live show to take note of times.
We do, we've got a light sussex rooster. He's only 1 year old and doing a brilliant job!
Our chicken pen has a huge wild rose bush and the chickens love the hips in autumn.
I love your new door opening system. I have the same issue with layered pellets. I just ordered from Robins glen organic products, at least their grain mixes are grown in Ireland
Thanks for leaving a comment! I tried rolled organic grains from an irish farm, unfortunately they're often out of stock, they take up 1.5 times the storage space and went moldy on me after only a couple of months in my circumstances. We mostly use oats now because all the of animals including ourselves can eat them, except the cats are interested :D And they store a year.
that is what I should have done.
A lot cheaper than the automatic doors :D
I was half expecting one of these fancy door opening solutions on the market - much prefer your low key solution👍 lonicera edulis are in full flower just now, our currants seem to be a bit later than yours....
Yupp low tech and it only cost about 1 euro. I'm all for the automatic doors but i've got 2 coops so we'd have to spend 2 times 150-200euro. Need to replace the coops with one bigger one first.
