- The muscle behind the economic juggernaut that is Darokin has to be the merchant houses that provide it leadership and wealth. They compete with each other for market share, and their competition drives the nation. While there are only nine total, if one should falter another merchant house will take its place. So watch and learn then decide which house will you side with.
All i heard was transporting monsters in a caravan for a noble to eat it after slaying it live
How fortuitous, a player that just joined my current campaign is playing a merchant magic-user from Darokin.
Looking forward to the timeline video. I have always been curious about this alternative history.
Good news everyone!
All the Mystara Gazetteers are back in print at drivethrurpg! :D
@Mr. Welch 4:36 DUDE! Vidlers is in my home town! That place is legendary here in Buffalo! Thanks Glenn! You just made my night!
Whoa at 4:25, that is the Five and Dime in Newark, Delaware, where I went to university. Wonder if Mr. Welch has been there? There's a fantastic game store nearby called Days of Knights.
Did you see that the house rules for the original Known World game have been scanned and put together ina a PDF?
I did see that, was interesting to see the setting in its prototype stage.
Where can I find this? Also, can you elaborate a little more? Who’s house rules? When you say Known World, you mean Mystara, right?
Used to drive by that 5 & 10 National every day. Inside is hokey but the sign is still dope.
8:55 is that a Murray painting? Cute.
It's the wine cellar of the most expensive steak house locally. Don't know anything more than I can't afford to eat there.
@@Mr_Welch Oh the painting looked vaguely like Murray Rothbard some sorta bigname libertarian writer guy IIRC>
Out of curiousity, what do you think of Bruce Heard's Eorld in Flames campaign/outline? I've been windering how would an equivalent of those events look in War on All Sides timeline.
The timeline vid will be fun. Methinks I'll move the Returned Blackmoor series to that timeline, as my collaborators agree that it goes critical in the original 1010 timeline (with the Hollow World giving them the Blacklore Elves treatment, as the rest of the land blows up in an Immortal built dimension... cuz they came prepared). Less messy with your idea, due to no cataclysms that would set things off.
It is all good until The Master of Nomads in X10 rolls over everything.....
The historical examples of corporations running countries are not encouraging. The East India Company's rule over the Punjab, for instance, and Leopold II's private ownership of the "Congo Free State" come to mind. With competing merchant houses there is plenty of room for Cyberpunk style assassinations, corporate espionage, arbitrary local variations of laws and wholesale extortion of bribes for safe passage, doing business, and getting out of jail after being arrested for unspecified commerce violations rather than winding up chained to a lathe to pay off House legal debts whose daily interest exceeds your withheld pay.
