Edit: I'm looking now and im not sure why I didn't get hit, I think I was expecting to get hit - and I think I should have been hit 😂 The shield gave me confidence to do some absolutely classic Aktane flailing, and 😅 I'm pretty sure I got lucky hahaha but sometimes I'm in the zone so I'm gonna take the compliment 😂
Really fun game, a friend gifted me this and it was a blast to clear. It's pretty easy to 1CC when you realize using a bomb also recharges your shield, so instead of something like ChoRenSha where you bomb to try and keep your shield up you just bomb any time you take a hit. Those stage transitions, man are those good. On par with Rolling Gunner's cutscenes, really setting the indie game bar high in production values. Bit weird the dev devoted so many warnings about not streaming the ending... Glad someone bothered to record it, sometimes if I'm watching a 1CC it's also nice to see the ending and credits again (rather than having to fire up the whole game just to see it!) and it's sad that they're sometimes cut out in UA-cam recordings. If you play on keyboard like I do it's annoying there's no in-game keyboard remapping, but at least there's AutoHotKey for that. I prefer playing with the "Direct" mode that makes the focused shot work more like a CAVE game rather than tapping to switch type.
The first thing I did was turn on direct haha! I'm working on a Hard clear here and there, thats more challenging and does not give you a shield when you bomb. Also the extends are twice as expensive. That makes it spicy and pretty fun! You should definitely give that mode a shot. I also cleared Retro Normal first try and need to work on Retro Hard, that mode is amazing too! What a great package. This blows rolling gunner away in my opinion, I think rolling gunner's cutscenes are pretty, but they don't integrate into the game as well and aside from those, during gameplay is quite an ugly game, lacking in animations, impact, depth, and cohesion. I don't like how in that game bullets just spew from anywhere as if a bullet spawner was placed on top. In Devil Blade there is proper animation events and tells that make it feel like the enemies are firing on you, and not just bullets are randomly spawning out of their ass. 😆
