I used to instruct Rally driving technique in Rear wheel drive , four wheel drive and front wheel drive the latter is a completely different technique and to accomplish what he just did you would pull up the handbrake and then use the power and front wheels with a differential to pull the car back in line and accelerate away . Remembering that modern cars have electric handbrakes which don’t lock up the rear wheels and they are always hydraulic on a rally car . So don’t try this with a modern car as the handbrake normally locks up the front wheels ! Some are electrically operated automatically .
