Star Wars was inspired by Flash Gordon serials. Foundation was inspired by the rise and fall of Rome and that of the USSR. Dune was inspired by Lawrence of Arabia, oddly enough.
No one story is the foundation to any genre. Just say it was highly influential. I liked the show BECAUSE of the differences, which were not so much inaccuracies as a different focus. The show is WAY more about the Empire, which is cool. I feel like the books and the show compliment each other well. I recall finding the books too slow and uneventful for my taste, though still interesting themes.
A great partial synopsis, but you completly missed the younger "defective" Theon's romantic relationship and the fact that the Empire's leaders may all be genetically contaminated. This would greatly confuse any viewer who used your summary as a means of preparation for viewing the next season.
This is an abortion. It literally takes a crap on the original books. The Foundation Trilogy won the first Hugo award for best science fiction series ever, Lord of the Rings was the runner-up.

@@likefire1617 Yep. There are 2 sequels to the original trilogy and 2 prequels as well as a second Foundation trilogy of prequels was written after Asimov's death by three authors, authorized by the Asimov estate.

This series is NOT following the real story from the Foundation books. I hate when they completely change the original stories to make a movie or series.
To be fair, some of the character names are the same. But the books are entirely spoiler-free, and tell you nothing about whether a given character in this show is alive, or even the nature of their biology (or lack of one).
Get over it. I much prefer the approach they took with this series, which was to focus far more on the happenings in the Empire, which was mostly ignored in the books. And they did a great job of it. The result is that they created a complimentary story to the books, instead of just recreating the same story in a different format. And the books really wouldn't translate well to a show, as they are really slow, very cerebral, not much action. The changes with the characters make sense, as the audience needs some characters to persist through the time jumps. I kind of consider that a flaw with the original story. It felt very disorienting and empty, with no one to attach to.

"Why did they do this series??", ask so many people. Two simple and self-destructive reasons: 1) Unconscious, escapist fantasy entertainment, mostly an update of Star Wars (which of course has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with Asimov's original Foundation series), and 2) Of course, that glorious non-reason which is the summation of most of our country's history: GREED, specifically, profiteering from turning out a cheap-imitation franchise which completely ignores the principal themes of Asimov's classic series, distorts entirely too many of the characters out of their original definitions and purposes, brings in too many side plots having little or nothing to do with the original series (Anybody getting the feeling that I'm repeating myself? Could it be because we're actually getting a glorified version of the same over-rated junk over and over from the people who produced this travesty?), and supposedly brings in that all-encompassing "reason" so many of these over-rated travesties are done: MONEY!!! MONEY, MONEY, MONEY, M-O-N-E-Y!! If anybody gets wealthy over this vainglorified piece of unconscious distractions having almost nothing to do with Asimov's originals, they'll call it a success and masturbate their egos over this "monumental" UN-MONUMENTAL accomplishment!!
Life expectancy is an estimate of the average number of additional years that a person of a given age can expect to live12345. It is commonly measured at birth and reflects the overall health and mortality patterns of a population.
I know it's not very faithful to the books but neither is Dune well The Dune movies left a shit ton of important information and events out but these are adaptations and I still enjoy this show and the Dune Movies even as a long time fan of the novels.
The writers that bring books to the big screen have to leave some parts out so they can build on the next episode or extension of the franchise usually they reveal the key parts in other episodes but sadly usually not in the correct order
