I work for public housing. Most will get free housing for their entire life. When their kids turn 18 they are gifted a 200 thousand dollar condo.
It literally takes a team of 100 workers to support the life of each non worker.
If they don't work their rent is free. So most sell drugs. It is the best way to get ahead.
They need affordable housing for working class single people .

Why force developers to make the affordable and market rate units the same. I'd rather have lower rent than nicer finishes...

Not if he saw the NYC Housing Lottery Rates, some are 3x his Sunnyside Queens mortgage today. Congrats to winners in New Rochelle/New Roc City.
You should look at USDA and Affordable Housing in the south. We have very high quality units, and we drug test our tenants. Your gross misrepresentation is appalling.
I lived in New Rochelle for 5 years and it has ZERO walkability-pedestrian appeal. Not convenient if you don’t have a car. The downtown had two small grocery stores, one CVS, one Dunkin, etc.-which means prices aren’t competitive and all had very mediocre service. Also no good restaurants in the area. I did all my shopping in the city after work. My building was brand new and a mix of low-income/vouchers, affordable units and market rate. While “luxury,” it had a lot of management turnover (3 in 1 year), subsequent poor upkeep, and rift raft, shady activity. You’re better off living in an outer borough.
