Rallycross is an exciting rally racing motorsport using upgraded rally cars to race side by side on special mixed surface race tracks of dirt and asphalt.
Since 1967 rallycross has been entertaining fans of motorsports with short, fast rally car racing with qualifying, semi finals and final races all with epic car race battles and motorsport crashes.
In 2014 rallycross was FIA sanctioned to become the FIA World Rallycross Championship. World RX events are now at worldwide rallycross venues and famous F1 circuits around the world. The best rallycross cars have over 600bhp and can accelerate from 0-60mph in less than two seconds - faster than an F1 car.
Famous World Rally Championship drivers have competed in World Rallycross such as Sébastien Loeb and Petter Solberg who became World RX Champion in 2014 and 2015. The first driver to win two FIA championships, WRC and WorldRX.
Rallycross has featured world famous drivers like Ken Block, Jacques Villeneuve,
Reinis Nitišs, Mattias Ekström, Andreas Bakkerud, Timur Timerzyanov, Toomas Heikkinen, Tanner Foust, Johan Kristoffersson, and brothers Timmy Hansen and Kevin Hansen.
World Rallycross has a strong history of innovation with exciting features like the Joker Lap adding fascinating tactics to every race! This innovation continues as World RX transitions towards electric motosport. It’s a part of course that diverts from the main track and is usually longer or more twisty, every driver in the race has to take the joker at least once during a race so choosing when you take it is a crucial descision

@@dirtcheapmedia3390 Joker lap is a short section of the track that has an obstacle or is longer than the part of the circuit it is next to, every driver must take a joker lap during the race and if you have any penalties like jumped starts you have to take a second joker lap.
Imagine theres a long sweeping right hand corner and there is a seperate entrace just before that corner, you go down that corner and suddenly you have to complete a double chicane or a chicane and a hairpin turn to rejoin the circuit.

Sorry I'm kind of a noob but could someone explain the different routes? Do they get to choose freely which one to take?
Each driver have to take a "joker lap" once in a race, they are free to choose on which lap they want to take it.

So in the first one Hansen hits Bakkerud and forces him wide but when that happened to the other Hansen in Abu Dhabi all of a sudden it’s a big deal?
In the first one, Hansen hit Ekström (and was on the inside of the corner), and he lost the win due to that.
