Wisconsin has been through a lot like knocking on championship doors so many times but finally got it this time. Congratulations Wisconsin! Much Aloha from Hawaii.
Both teams are amazing but Wisconsin deserved this win. They won even after that call at the end of the 5th set. Nebraska is amazing and they will have the team to win it all next year.
Well… they should have to win after that call on set point in the 5th set… because the challenge was a good one. The video footage very clearly shows Rettke’s fingers on the ball. I’d think you’d want to win on a good attack rather than a botched call.
Sydney and Company deserved this . . . The game we watched in October was a sign. After that match, Sydney told us the most important thing is to "Have fun!" Boy, they sure did ~!!!!!!!!!!!! Love you ladies!!!!!!!!!
Their defense is what really kept them in this match. The hitting percentage is pretty low, particularly among some of the freshman. Coach continued to keep them in.
Kudos to both teams. They played their hearts out and took it down to the wire. Could have gone either way. Happy for Wis to get their first, not that that's any consolation to Neb. Great game and a great final four.
Dana Retke just uploaded a tiktok video showing in a super clear, slowed down video, that she and Hilley never touched the ball that over turned the point in the 5th set.
Hard to win if you fall apart at the beginning of the 5th, but the mental strength these freshman summoned to climb back and make it a close game by the end is a good sign pointing toward Nebraska dominating the ncaa for the next few years! Nothing to be upset at from what I can see! GBR
I also would not go with dominating. B1G volleyball is a trial by fire though with every year ten teams that could go to the tournament and four teams that could legit reach the final four.
Such a good game, had me on my toes the whole time. Wisconsin definitely had way less hitting errors than Nebraska in the second half of the match. They both played phenomenal though, as a Huskers fan, Wisconsin played a better match.
Both the Louisville game and this one are probably in the top 10 women's games I've ever seen, this match was about as close as it could possibly get, insane effort and plays from both teams. Exactly what the championship should be
This was an amazing match. But there was no reason that cook didn’t make any subs..he has a whole bench that could’ve potentially changed the trajectory of the game. But no.
I blame cook for this one batenhorst needed to come out not that she wasn’t capable but they just needed better production out there and with all the talent on the bench he should have tried something different. That being said Wisconsin totally deserved this one based on how amazing they played I’m really proud of them
Congratulations to Wisconsin, from a Husker fan, on winning your first National Championship! I’m so happy for you! Two great teams playing a great match!
I've got to say ive been sleeping on lauren B...I couldn't keep my eyes off of her in any set...only other libero to do that to me was the standford libero Morgan H....does anyone now if lauren B got MVP? I hope she did! She was working so damn hard and her level remained the same for 5 close sets regardless of what her team was doing. Player of the match for me.
A lot of people sleep on her. Shes incredible. Some of her saves did not seem humanly possible. Dana had something like 18 solo blocks though. Blocking vs hitting is so much harder to do/learn than people realize. Tiffany Clark (the bro before Barnes) was amazing, check her out. She played with two torn labrum her senior year. I don’t know who’s better.
20 years ago I started following Bucky. .John Cook was their coach. I was hooked. The next year he went to Nebraska. The new coach Pete Waite brought the team to the national finals against Nebraska . Nebraska won. It would take be all those years for Wisconsin to return to the same spot against the same team. What was interesting is that those two teams played weeks earlier for the conference tittle which Wisconsin won. Who would have thought they would meet again for the National Tittle ?
idk why nebraska kept on serving barnes. like she was passing lights out they should of served loburg whenever she was passing. such a shame they didn’t win but they’ll be back. with these super seniors gone it’ll be a fair chance again. so excited to see anni or kennedy set next year, i’m so exited for the team next year too. great things will happen with the talent coming to nebrask. great season huskers.
It was still a pretty fair chance even with those 5 super seniors, one heck of a match. Akana at the end was playing phenomenally as well. I also thought Nebraska’s serving game wasn’t the toughest I’ve seen, and was surprised they kept serving Barnes. Great match overall!
So close to number 6 but congrats to Wisconsin for your first title in women’s volleyball. Nebraska had no answer on the outside hitting and it was a block party for your extremely tall players.
Both teams seemed like teams of destiny throughout the entire tournament, so it was fitting to have one of the most exciting championship matches in the history of the sport. Glad Wisconsin was able to get the win, especially since they were so close in previous years.
Once again Nebraskas outsides simply can not get it done. Hit .081, .122, and .106 on the match. The Huskers have great defense and a potent middle attack, but their pins let them down match after match.
@@floatsting20 Obviously its super hard to hit above them anyways, but tight sets (mainly on tough passes and out of system) practically increases that left pins chance at getting blocked to almost 100%. They can’t do anything with the ball if not set up with a decent pass and set first.
With much success in the past, like get defeated by Stanford in their latest try at the title. It was finally adding the last ingredient to a very successful program. Well done ladies in reaching the apex. They could of well been undefeated, getting swept by Purdue, and a loss to how did that happen Maryland. But this is Big Ten volleyball.
15 service errors against Maryland. and Maryland did play a great match. Pretty tall order to go undefeated in the big Ten. Purdue did seem to have Wisconsin's number and were just one game from playing Nebraska.
Men’s hockey has won a few titles but none since 2006, women’s hockey has won a ton of titles (6 I think, including the last 2) football has never won one, basketball won in 1941, then made it to the championship in 2015 and lost, and now finally volleyball won one after losing in the final four/championship so many times
@@martinavila7401 Men's soccer title in 1995 as well. Plus, several men's and women's team cross country titles, an indoor track and field title, and a bunch of boxing championships back in the '40s and '50s.
We barely can notice the ball. Paint the internal court zone or red and have a white ball (just like how the Olympics does) so we can actually enjoy watching the game.
Congrats to Wisconsin and coach Sheffield ❤️ Two new national champions this year with them and Kentucky. It’s nice to see the level of play getting better higher across the board. Nebraska and Wisconsin’s futures look bright with their young players. It is interesting though that the Nebraska fans were so supportive of the freshman and Kubik as a Junior not walking away as a national champs, but when Lexi did the same thing in her runner up game as a sophomore she got so much hatred and flack. Talk about a double standard. Same score, same outcome and yet a completely different tone. Hopefully the freshman live up to the hype or I worry they will get a similar treatment.
