  • Follow along this hilarious excuse for an event as I and the rest of the racers try to make our way through the “course”.
    Eventually we decide to just make our own race and try to make the best out of a bad situation!

    Well i got my spartan trifecta in 2016. Alot of injuries and less in shape, so this race is very appealing to me. I want to test my body to see if i can make it through sometime tougher.

      That’s awesome man! And I’m not knocking the race because it wasn’t hard, it just wasn’t what was advertised that’s all. But hey as long as you have fun that’s all that matters right? Thanks for the support!

    You are so right, just did one a couple days ago. There was no organization. Everyone that was working was clueless on any questions I had. No instructions on any obstacles. Distance was 1.7 but advertised as a 5k. We went early thank goodness because as we were leaving the highway and all roads leading to the farm were jammed. So glad we were heading the other way!! This was my daughters first mud run. She had fun so that was a plus! Also the bubbles at the end were cool. Would I do it again…nope. There are so many better options.

      @ByondTheNorm  Рік тому

      At least you got bubbles lol! I got tore up at the end because the obstacle that was supposed to be covered in water was instead covered with dirt and rocks. Glad your daughter had fun tho! At the end of the day thats all that matters at an event like this!

    Oh no! Sorry to hear (and see) that you had a bad time! Great video tho, and liked your running commentary, I was laughing at a few points ("Stevie Wonder" for instance)🤣. Can't believe there were basically zero trail markings and few or zero officials/volunteers on the course. Yikes!

      Thank you guys! That’s awesome to hear that coming from you. I have Terrain Race NY this coming weekend with my son and some clients of mine. Hoping they redeem themselves and your video gives me hope! Keep killing it guys!

      @@ByondTheNorm Excellent, enjoy your race! Terrain race footage from this weekend will be up tomorrow. Hopefully it will give you an idea of what to expect. It was short and fun, but not super challenging. Only 13 obstacles. Well organized though, with photographers, water stations, etc.

    If you want to be competitive then this isn't for you. Can't complain about a race that's free and meant to be family friendly. A Muddy Dash race was my first race back after distal bicep surgery from tearing bicep on a Spartan Sprint Race.

    • @ByondTheNorm
      @ByondTheNorm  Рік тому +3

      I completely agree and never looked at it as a competitive race. But if you watch, there wasn’t even a course, they didn’t have most obstacles out or if they were out they weren’t ready to be used. Everyone got completely lost and there was no one out there to guide us so it was a free for all. I love supporting the smaller organizations and I went and did a terrain race with my family later in the season but at the same mountain and it was much better. This specific event was just an epic fail that’s all. Thanks for the comment tho man and congrats on the recovery! Way to keep kicking butt!

    SCAM!! Horrible! I can't find where to review this organizations "muddy" dash, but I ran the Seattle 2023. Their website says it's $60, but sign up by X date and it's $20. BUT, they keep advancing the date each week. They want you to drive an hour each way to pick up your race packet the day before, or pay $5 on race day because the lines are sooo looong. WTF? There was no line when I arrived. They then tell you after signing up that parking is $20! Per the course, it's no where near Seattle. It's 1:15+ away. Secondly, there were only 4 or 5 water obstacles...no mud. I got wet up to my knees. I'm 66yo and finished in 30 minutes. So, the price doubled and the event was half of what they presented.

    • @ByondTheNorm
      @ByondTheNorm  Рік тому

      You said it! Wouldn’t be as bad if they just told you what it was from the jump. But they know most wouldn’t waste their time and money so instead, the trick you into attending and then pull a fast one. One was enough for me lol

    Mudder Dash DC 2023 - ditto. More like a Mudder Wait. The course was less than 2 miles and zip zags over a small area. It is hinted? as 5k. Limited organization, long line for shower or changing stations (we changed by car with everyone else - hint: buy one of those portable changing tents), cheap 2x4 obstacles. Literally, 3-4 heats of participants waiting to get over the first obstacle (which was really the only obstacle). This event is fine for kids and people that want to walk in 2" mud. It's a future pass for me but it won't break the bank ($20-$30) for an afternoon of fun for a non-competitive group.

    Our race was almost as bad in Austin. Advertised as a 5k and was barely 1 mile. SCAM. I signed up for the Terrain race, which was cancelled, and was instead placed into this race as its' replacement. The course markings were almost as bad as yours. Our obstacles were minimal and not well done at all- your race had slightly better ones. There was no where to wash up at the end of the race, either. I did not even get the medal at the end of the race. I do not want a reminder.
