- In light of the approaching closing date (Official date listed as October 1st, 2023) of the infamous Star Wars hotel, let's reflect on what made this expensive venture so bad. Here's a few of the notable moments that made this experience completely cringeworthy.
This 2-night experience only lasted 18 months and cost Disney upwards of $300,000,000.
What's even more astronomical is how guests were forced to pay an average of $6,000 for a 2-night "voyage", that of which offered mediocre entertainment and accommodations.

Before you hit ‘post comment’, here is a bit of a disclaimer: I understand that a lot of you don’t like the style of this video. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to let me know how strongly you oppose the edits, the transitions, the sounds etc. of a video I posted over a half a year ago just for fun. As you can see I am no professional nor do I claim to be, so I do appreciate the feedback.

Correct, for a family of four in one tiny suite. Includes food but doesn’t include any drinks. Nor does it include any merch, or park tickets beyond the 1 partial day you spend in Galaxy’s Edge. And you’re stuck inside the entire time.

The whole concept of this hotel looked and sounded like nothing more than just a glorified, Star Wars-themed daycare for families. It's crazy how Disney could invest so much money into something and it flop so badly in less than 2 years. They used to be the trailblazers of coming up with innovative rides and attractions that made their parks world famous. It's why Disney came up with the term "Imagineer" to give to their ride/attraction creators. They were always ahead of the curve.
Now it just seems like Disney is getting blinded by greed, ESPECIALLY when it comes to anything that deals with Star Wars. They know people love the franchise and took advantage of that by thinking they could simply theme a hotel with a bunch of gimmicky activities for guests to do in less than 48 hours and then charge them out the ass. I'm glad this hotel completely failed, but I sadly don't think Disney will fully learn their lesson or even figure out why that was, just like how it was/is with the Star Wars sequels and spin-off shows.
It's things like this that is the reason why more and more people are choosing Universal Studios over Disney World

The waste made me sick! My mother was born in Japan in 1941. She lost all of her teeth before she was 19 from malnutrition. Seeing food waste always broke her heart. When she opened her first authentic Japanese restaurant and sushi bar, people would ask her why she didn't have a lunch buffet. She couldn't handle the waste.

A big aplause to the crew and the actors. They had to work with the lame materials and poorly written "story" given by the greedy douchebags execs and "creatives" at the top of the Disney corportation.

Kathleen Kennedy needs to be remembered for how much of a blight she’s been to the franchise.
Take whatever money they have made with KK at the helm, and triple it. That’s how much they’ve left on the table by forcing this bs on the franchise. Look how psyched literally everyone was when Luke showed up for like, 3 scenes in Mando. The hype was off the charts lol.

Is everyone just glued to their phones the whole time between the apps and filming everything was there any actual genuine interaction?
Considering part of the experience is using the “data pad” they give you to scan QR codes and interact with the environment, I highly doubt there’s little time away from your lcd screen. The actors did look like they would make a genuine effort to interact face to face with folks in the atrium during the welcome portion of the “voyage” however.

This is what happens when bean counters run your company. They'll almost always run it the ground, take the big bonuses they made by cutting costs, and move on to the next company to wreck. My Grandfather was in business and he told me something very important to have a successful business. He said "If you take care of the customer, the money will take care of itself." I believe that was Disney's philosophy at one time, and one of the things that made it so successful. That era is gone. Companies like Universal are now the leaders. Disney's inept and out of touch management is just handing money to the competition.
@@nathanbrownmolotov8697 I have two business degrees (BS and MBA) and I am in marketing / procurement and supply chain by day. I can tell you that your grandfather is correct. Further on that point, stop trying to tell customers what their wants should be, when your success is founded in responding to what the customer does want. Ultimately, people wanted a reasonable and authentic Star Wars experience. Or, something that warranted a luxury price tag of $6k. This catastrophe was not either of those things. They included characters nobody knew or cared about. Put it in a setting that was never seen in the Star Wars universe, one that was not much identifiable to the guest. The activities surrounding the “role play” experience only worked for a select few guests. The entertainment was lame (no disrespect to the performers, they did the best with what they were given!) and none of the food served was memorable. Merchandise came at an extra cost as well as any beverages beyond water and soft drinks. This is not an elite customer experience that Disney is known for. Walt is rolling in his grave as this price-gouging revenue tactic was not his vision for the theme parks at all.

That awkward beat when Kylo Ren is giving the audience their cue to act force-tortured 2:26 actually came off in this footage a little better than Jenny's. On her trip, she was the only one who got it, so it looked like Kylo Ren attacked one short woman down front at random.

Honestly I wish they would learn from this as I would of had a lot of fun roleplaying in a immersive setting. But the way they went about it felt like it was a hollow experience. This can be done, it just needs more work and passion.
If they really wanted a role play experience for Star Wars, they needed to do a separate “escape room” type attraction in the park that you have a reservation slot for, and it takes say an hour to complete. And I agree with you, if this was the approach they took it would have been a lot of fun.
But a $6k hotel stay for 2 nights to do this is not only uninteresting but it’s a complete waste of resources. Not just for the consumer either.

The price of a 5 night vacation for a family of 4 (in 2018 at least) for one person to spend 2 days hating themselves for doing this. Did they really expect this to take off? (No pun intended.) they need to bulldoze it and consider some kind of expansion project for Hollywood Studios in its place. Even if it’s just a new ride in Galaxy’s Edge. That hotel was not it.

That was....just sad. So, very sad. There should be a PhD dissertation in why Disney really thought there were enough people that rich who also liked the sequels that much and wanted to apend two days doing that? Surely, even common sense woukd have told them that group was vey finite. Did the marketing research team really have some sort of scame going on? Did Disney exec say they needed some massive tax write off for some reason? There is not a single thing about any if this that makes even the skightest bit of sense. If they were looking for a theme to do something similar, they could have picked among many movies that oeople woukd have enjoyed dressing up and participating in and enjoyed period oerformances. What about a Pirates experience? A Haunted Mansion experience? Jungle Cruise experience? Anything would have been better than this. Either this was a deliberate failure ir someone spiked an executive boardroom water cooler with the best damn LSD ever.

@@rogueonereb If you look closely, there is a small squared box on the wall to her left just under the roof. There is a little explosion there, just as she is ducking. I think it is supposed to be a blaster shot she is avoiding judgeing from other clips ive seen where she is running awkward and small explosions can be seen following her track, but it just comes out as looking stupid... No one understands she is fired upon since no lasers can be seen. Also. She is supposed to be a Jedi right? So why duck a blastershot rather than deflect the laser with her lightsaber? ...No one seemed to ask in the imaginary team.

That would have been decent. A themed hotel that's plainly a hotel, not pretending to be a ship and therefore keeping people inside with busywork, app-dependent activities for 2 days. Just a place to frkin relax & enjoy what there is to do, not run around with some insane schedule. It's supposed to be a VACATION ...Holy shit 😢
And they could have scheduled themed activities for people who wanted to participate.
That way people could engage in their immersive experience at their own leisure which doesn't seem to be asking a lot for that amount of money.
I thought it was hilarious when Rey used the real extending lightsaber then secretly but quickly put it down and picked up the regular one while people were distracted by the chandelier.

We had a blast at Dollys Pirate show in Tennessee, soo much so that the next year we went to Tennessee we went again. I ended up getting picked for the water bucket race.
That was like 200 for tge four of us and worth evert penny both years we went. I couldn't imagine blowing 12k on the four of us to do nothing at this place and told to get up when the food was served.

Ugh, can't believe how many fought to get rooms in the last six months of its life. It was a ludicrous idea, an attempt at making VERY fast cash without even trying to do anything properly. I saw over 20 videos on this dumpster fire and it didn't feel or look like anything Star Wars related. They could have themed it to Star Trek or Battlestar Galactica and either theme would fit just as well as SW, showing that they didn't listen to the fans. I won't miss it one bit. Sadly, Disney will try again. And again. And when the 99th dumpster fire is put out, they'll just triple and quadruple down on their political crap.

In just about all the Starcruiser footage that I've seen, even from people who are praising their experience, the children look bored out of their minds.
My son (10) absolutely loved it, as did my niece (5). It was the best thing I ever experienced at Disney.
After $6K+, I certainly hope so.
Even in the very beginning, I saw people uploading videos during its first month of operation. My favorite was a video where a very tall teenage girl was seen in the back of the crowd of guests rolling her eyes like "Are they serious?? This is sooo borring..." I felt her disappointment. The entire video was just 45 minutes of solid cringing.

I’ve seen some high-quality videos from some UA-camrs that made it look halfway decent despite them talking about how terrible it was, but the average Joe cell-phone video of it really hammers home just how cheap it all must’ve felt.
The fact that someone thought this would be a good idea is just beyond comprehension to me, imagine if they had built a real star wars land? I'd have loved to see Naboo or Alderaan, Coruscant so many great places and they decide to do a claustrophobic hotel 💀
Even Star Wars Galaxys Edge (theme park next to the hotel) doesn’t feel very much like Star Wars. It’s cool, but a made up planet called Batuu is not something I as a fan identify or connect with
@@rogueonereb The kicker is according to the original designers it was SUPPOSED to be Mos Eisley during the Original Trilogy era but then KK forced the Imaginears to make it into Batuu and set in the Disney Trilogy because "Our greatest stories are ahead of us not behind us" and Bob signed off on it because of TFA making so much money.

OBVIOUSLY this was intentionally created to "miss the mark" and disappoint. Kathleen Kennedy is destroying all the franchises that Lucasfilm created for some reason. What did she witness? Walt Disney took out loans and mortgaged his house to successfully build Disney and now this.
Seems like the park got too carried away with making an experience, instead of a hotel. People don't want to have dinner interrupted, or have one tiny outdoor "simulation". They just want a hotel that's styled to look like a Star Wars movie. A few gimmicks here and there are fine. But this was gimmicks 24/7.
The outside of the building and the truck is like they didn't even try.

The most embarrassing thing is that all the guests are grown adults.
How can Disney survive on so much flops of the IP and not make the necessary changes to it? It baffles my mind how they are so adverse to profit and making an IP that the fans want.

@@NOWTHATSWHATICALLANGST 😂😂 Disney fails to see the difference apparently. They had such a lack of creative forethought into this whole thing that they resorted to using epic John Williams-esque music to impress people with the lame lcd screen entrance lol.
