- I have owned the Waldorf Q for a while, but only in recent times I have had the opportunity to really sink my teeth into its very powerful synthesis architecture.
The first batch of patches that I have programmed includes several well-known synth timbres, plus a few more adventurous sounds. I find this an excellent approach to familiarize with an instrument.
I didn't try to directly imitate the warmth of analog vintage synths; the Q has a strong personality in itself, and a big, aggressive basic sound. All the mod routings allow for very complex timbres of a special kind, cold and precise, but also full and satisfying.
What you hear in this video is all single patches, no multis. Only the internal effects were used, with no external processing except a little bit of eq.
Here is part 2, with more advanced/abstract patches:

I recently bought a Q. Among all the synths I own, and have owned quite a lot synths since my first in 1978, the Q imo is a true ‘exotic’ It’s a keeper.
The Q has definitely a personality of its own - a kind of fullness which is not of the 'analog' kind, but pleasant to the ear nonetheless.
Last year, I found a 16 voice expansion. My Q is now 32-voice. ;-))
They were trying to say this is a ob6?
Who said that?! The two couldn't be more different.
