It was for sure made before he had a show. At the time Conan had only auditioned to replace Letterman (on the personal recommendation of Lorne Michaels) but hadn't yet received any kind of confirmation when they made this, and hadn't even negotiated his way out of his writers contact with Fox (he eventually had to buy his way out). His writer pals just threw this in for support. And it aged like🍷👌
In the 25 year period from 1994 (the year this episode aired) to 2019, approximately 338,861 square kilometers of land from the Amazon Rainforest (makes up 1% of Earth's land area) has been deforested (mostly by fire). Around 37 square kilometers gone per day, so definitely not Kansas (213,096 square kilometers), more like Maryland (32,131 square kilometers) every day
I'm not sure maybe I'm used to how Conan O'Brien sounds like nowadays, but it doesn't sound like they actually had his voice. Still a funny clip though
People's voices naturally get lower as they age. If you go watch the early Conan on his UA-cam channel, he sounds closer to this. Also, he was literally a writer on the show-it’s not like he’d say *no.*
'Sit perfectly still. Only I may dance' 😂😂 - was Conan still working on The Simpsons at this time?
I think this is after. Because I know Conan was on the writing staff for a couple of seasons real real early in the franchise.
AreaEightyNine this is after, he worked on around the famous season 6 ish where he produced and wrote the famous marge and the monorail episode
They showed a clip of Bart’s interview on Conan’s late night show when the voice actor for Bart was on it.

@@takikarasmanis9403that is some absolutely brilliant sauce
I assume that actually IS Conan O'Brien, considering he wrote for The Simpsons
It is.
In fact, this was written and animated before the crew was certain Conan would successfully land the gig, so it could've just become an injoke.
This line is just so gosh darn funny 😂😂😂😂
Heart me or watch the Conan O Brien show
Why doesn't Conan dance anymore? Remember the "Cocotusi"?
How is the Captain doing today?
A bit better than this morning ☠️

Fun Fact: Conan O’Brien didn’t have a show yet when this episode aired.

It’s short for “Simpleton”

Wait, if a chunk of the rainforest the size of Kansas is burned every day, shouldn't it all be gone by now? Or is that the joke?
