While studying art we were taught to use references before and during creating work .. artists over time have done this and to feel guilty over this practice would be counter productive. By the way ...love your work.
Same thing I do. Take ref and Frankenstein ref together while changing it to my own characters and ideas. Set a reference alarm for 1/2 hour - 1 hour etc. When the alarm goes off no more reference research today. It’s helped prevent the dangerous rabbit holes of too much reference research! Also save references for later that are very inspiring. You can also use a reference for lighting ideas or colour pallet while using nothing else from that reference! Fun video thanks.
Many people say 'Use References is bad', but if we want draw a tiger correct, we need some Picture from a tiger. And self Art School say 'USE REFERENCE' or it's a obligation to use references. At some Art schools you also get bad grades if you do not use or give references. And self big Artist use references, so it's not bad to use refeences, it GOOD TO USE it. But I know, why some peoples say, it's not good to use references. I'm self think often this, because other people that this. Self after year, I use not often referencens, because it's still in my head the sentence 'Use references is bad' :( Self If you or many other Artist say: It's good and okay to use some referenses. qwq
The thing is: People that say it is bad to use references, think about the use of references in the way of 1to1 copying, rather than a learning aid to help you figure something out. References are great. The more the better, actually, as they can and will help you nail down your own style.
Just a little tip for your english: "self" on itself doesn't make much sense. I think the word you wanted to use would be "even" even art schools and even big artists use reference. But I agree with your statement.
I’m SO glad I’m not the only one who “Frankensteins” references lol, I have countless photoshop files that are amalgamations of like 5 references for different elements and it often looks hideous 😂
I have fallen in love with this piece instantly! What a beautiful commission! Those wings are so incredible! Love the hair, as always. And the colors oh my!
She’s absolutely stunning ..I love how you did her wings ,it’s how I do mine too ,not many artist do and it makes the fairy look like it has heavy wings, that do not even belong to her.. I love how you did this background too ,delicate with a hint of leaves and branches ..Lovely .as all of your paintings are 😀
such a beautiful painting as always! you're the person that made me fall in love with watercolour. the wings in this painting especially look absolutely otherworldly beautiful
It's been a while since the last time I came into your channel. And I'm glad I'm back!! I forgot how much I love your art, is amazing 🤩🤩🤩🤩 Greetings from Mexico
hey so, i notice there's not a lot of variety to the type of people you draw. They are all mainly white or "fantastical" with light colours, and very generically thin. I just wanna say poc can be ethereal too and i'd think it'd help your art to be more diverse in what you draw! anyway, good art ! ^^
Lililana Bright I agree, I love her work but I think some more diversity in the people she paints is needed. I think it could help her push her artwork as well.
I received your inktober book & I absolutely love it. It's part of my collection now. Your fairy painting is lovely by the way. I also have your other inktober book. 🙂😊
I Loveee this piece! The colors are stunning! ❤️😍 Recently, I have been trying to paint skies and saw a big difference between when I use a reference and when I don't. Using references are very very helpful, even if we are painting something we see everyday, such as the sky 😅
Awesome art and a very inspiring video!!! I also get lost sometimes in looking for references 😅 But it's very inspiring and motivating when you do find that perfect pose or hand 😁
My trick is to use Pose Generators, you just start to modify a 3D doll and move the joint and so into a 3D space, is much easer. You can move the camera, the lighting... And it can be really funny.
Great things about using reference (not tracing tho) is that you will never make it exactly the same. If you do it over and over again you might end up finding your own style. At least that's what happened to me ^^ Great art anyway

Gosh I almost had a stroke reading this, but yes, a lot of people disapprove of references
I need to practice more ❤️🔥🌹

Love it! The wings are so pretty
the colours on this piece are gorgeous! very calming looking
I was wondering when you incorporate animals or flowers do they have a specific meaning to help shape your theme or overall mood?
That’s fantastic beautiful! I love it too.☺️💕

I have always admired your work, the darkness, the fluidity, the elegance of it. What would it take to commission a piece?

Beautiful 😍😍😍😍😍
Beautiful. I think the hair behind the wing is difficult to draw. Well Done. Thanks.
I started using references a few years ago and now I can’t not use them. I can’t draw without one and it’s so frustrating. Any advice?
