Had to believe we are already talking about winter. It always seems no matter how prepared you think you are, you are never ready enough. At least for me anyways haha. Glad you are both feeling better.
@@marlenereimchen9141 thanks friend!
The thumbnail is my favorite thing. Hope you're recovering from the plague ok!
Getting there. Thanks!
So excited for this video!
@@Homesteadyshow yay!! We hope you love it! If you don’t, we’ll blame it on Mr. Reeve. Ha!
I got exhausted just listening to all you have to do for winter...lol I hope it all gets done 😊
Ha! Yep! We need a nap. 💤
Wow! A lot of prep. Glad you’re feeling better, just pace yourselves, too close to winter to relapse. Prayers for continued healing and good health.
Getting to the winter gear part, even here in Utah I keep a used military modular sleep system in my truck all year long. So if I ever get stuck or something happens I have a good sleep system that'll give me a lot of options to stay warm depending on the weather.
I keep blankets and sleeping bags plus food in my vehicles
I have BOB (Bug Out Backpack) with clothes and toiletries by my door for wildfire season, and always keep a blanket, spare coat, boots and SOCKS (very important) in my car😊
I don't live in a real snow country, but my mother gave me the advice to have a tea light in the car in the winter, so if your car breaks down you have some kind of heat source.
Smart
Yes yes yes!!! No heat! Don’t heat! I won’t heat!
@@modernhomesteadalaska love you!!
I'm glad you're feeling better but you can tell y'all sick hun thank you for the video and all
Awww! 💕💕Thanks Miss Robin.
You forgot to tell the people how you keep your outhouse warm, lol. You got some good points to tell people. Reeve should be eating a cookie while your talking, lol.
The outhouse seat gets warm …when in use. Ha!
My secret for outhouse instant heat is beans and garlic combo.
Ha! Taco night at the neighbors! Whoop!
Nice to have you back! Great advice
Thanks!
Really good video! I also keep an extra warm blanket or two in my vehicle during winter months. I love your goats!
So smart! My mom used to keep blankets too! Cheaper than a second set of winter gear for a bunch of kiddos.
Hope you two feel better soon! ❤😊
Thank you sweetheart!
I love watching your videos so much. The help me forget my troubles and make me smile.
@@sandollarj504 Smile away my sweet friend. And laugh, don’t forgot to laugh. 💕💕
You two are so fun😄 and ya got Alaska smarts. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I've learned first-hand and wowie sometimes it hurt! That was way before internet and you tube.
Thankfully (and also unfortunately coz I'm now disabled), I'm to where I live a less physically demanding life, and get to enjoy watching others live my dream🥰
Loved Billy Goat Gruff offering to share his mouthful with Reeve😆
We’re glad you enjoyed it! That little guy is Heath. He’s so sweet.
Glad to see a new video. Praying you continue to get stronger everyday.
@@jillstearns1452 thank you my beautiful friend. 💕💕
Great points!
Thanks!
Get Well Soon. Thanks for all of the winter ready tips.
Thanks for watching sweetheart. 💕
When it snows a lot next time, can you guys go skiing to show me what the mountain looks like please pretty please please please please please please please please❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
@@simonemoreno4324 if we go skiing, definitely. 💕
Great video! Phew lots to do as always. Praying you recover soon. Val C ❤️🙏🏻
@@stephencameron1709 thanks!
I am scared, still so much to do to get ready for my first winter. But this helped me make a list.
@@judyshoemaker9681 💕💕You’re amazing! You will do great and you know where we are if you get in a pinch.
I'm glad to see you two are vertical and ventilating, even with the residual coughing. We usually put our studded tires on as soon as it's legal, but we don't have to drive as much as you two do. I'll escape to the post office once or twice a month (sad to say that's a year round schedule, not just winter😂 and maybe hit the "big town" every month or two as needed. My plan this year is to clear all the fuel tanks and vehicles after each storm or maybe each day during a storm. Hopefully, it will be much easier that way. I'm also planning on snowshoeing in a race track for our pittie to zoom around in. Exercise for both of us😂.
I'm glad you two are on the mend and feeling better. Plague recovery is rough.
@@DSmith-ss8jo I love that you are snowshoeing a race track for your pupper. That’s real Alaska stuff right there!
This was brilliant!!! Thankyou so so much for this video ❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏
@@happychappyvanlife yay!! I’m so glad you liked it!
These are so helpful! Thank you!! You seem to get much more cold up that way then down in the peninsula!
@@sproutedleafhomestead that’s true, but you guys are way wetter down there. And windier at times. 💕 Be blessed friends
Thank you for your great videos!! God bless. And get well soon!
@@jacquethirlkel3001 So glad you enjoyed it!
That was very informative. I really enjoyed it.
@@cathyrobinson8667 awesome! Thanks for sharing your time with us. 😊
Poor green house! So do you have one set of tires for summer and one for winter and you switch twice a yr every year? Love Mr. tanks name! Al Dente 😂 super clever! Great video with some great info! ❤
Yep. 2 sets of tires. Summer tires and winter tires. We usually do tire changeover in late April and late October.
Thankyou 😊
Thank you! 💕
So your goat looks like he is getting himself ready for winter. Not sure if he wants it as a bed, food or a comfort blanket but he's getting ready lol
You forgot a winter prep though. Stack that pantry with food. If you get sick and snowed in you still need food. Mainly cookies i think lol
Heath is so funny. He’s always walking around with that hand in his mouth. So cute! My pantry is always stocked because sometimes shipping shuts down to Alaska. It’s not a wintertime prep. it’s all the time prep. Ha! Be blessed friend.
@@FlatTireFarmHomesteadingAlaska So maybe a video of things you always need. Or things to think about moving or living in Alaska xx
It’s on the list sweet friend. 💕💕
Great info guys!
@@Forest_Actual thanks!!
Great video!!!
@@amberkirkwood5621 thanks love!
Hey wake up your goat is trying to give you some hay.
Ha! He is so cute. He walks around all day with hay in his mouth. So funny!
Hi Chrystal and Reeve, yes, it's definitely time for getting that garden gathered. So I'm wondering about the snow ❄️ with the goats 🐐 . Will you have access to remove it so they can play and potty outside of tiny sleep area?
Definitely! The cuddle hut is for sleeping. The 3 sided shed is so they can hang out but still be out of the snow and wind. Then they have a huge run area that we snowblow clear. That’s where they eat and get their warm water and stretch their legs and play…and cause mischief. Ha!
When is cold cold like really really really really really really really cold don’t you put a heater for them to keep them more?❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
In Austria, they got 1 m of snow already
@@simonemoreno4324 nope. We condition them to adjust. They will cuddle if they get cold. 💕 They need lots of bedding, warm water and extra calories. That helps their outsides and insides stay warm. Goats stomachs act as their internal heaters. When they digest their food, they make lots of heat in their tummies. So we always make sure they have lots and lots of food in the winter.
I call bs on your winter tips. It doesn't snow very much or get that cold in Alaska. I know, I've watched a couple reality shows on Alaska. Lol thanks for sharing
Ha! Right?!
Thanks Bill. There sure is a lot of misinformation out there. We’re hoping to clean it up a bit. See you for dinner after the snow flies?
Hello beautiful video I have to ask what’s it cost for heating oil you better get going falling trees and chopping wood for you both winter 🥶 is right around the corner it was very nice seeing both of you wow you can drive with studded tires we can’t here in Ontario Canada here from Ontario Canada ❤️❤️❤️❤️🇨🇦🇨🇦😎
Heating oil is essentially unrefined diesel. It’s just a bit cheaper than refined diesel, so anywhere from $3-$4 a gallon depending on the day.
@@FlatTireFarmHomesteadingAlaska does the truck come to your place or do you have to jug it into your place
And diesel doesn’t freeze but I don’t know at - 40 degrees Fahrenheit if it does or not
@mikemckinley1031 we ain’t payin no one! Ha! Reeve lugs fuel up a ladder and pours it in.
@@FlatTireFarmHomesteadingAlaska so unrefined diesel oil can you get that at gas station
Quit lollygaggin & get ta work, ya slackers! 😹🤣😸😸😸✌️🐾🐾💞🇱🇷

Hope you guys keep getting better & can stay ahead of old man winter!🤞 CHOP-CHOP!! 😉❤❤
I know, right?! Worst time to get sick. Ha!
I sonr know if yall have made a video on this or not but what if you need meds every month? Like BP meds or somthing like that? How do yall navigate that. Also im asking bc my hubs had cancer in 2020 and now has to take meds every month, without them he can die.
@@hermithillfarm1123 we are pretty fortunate and don’t need daily medication. Alaskans in general tend to plan ahead and stock things they need. Some people live in places where the roads/rivers are impassable for months at a time. We just stock up.😊
Did you go to high school in Alaska too?
High school, did you go to in Alaska? Did you go to the University of Alaska too? That’s such a beautiful university.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Is it expensive those winter tires? How much do they cost?❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
$1300 💕
@@FlatTireFarmHomesteadingAlaska a lot of money how long does the tires last for all that money? I hope they last at least 10 years.
@@simonemoreno4324 2-3 years
@@FlatTireFarmHomesteadingAlaska I think it should last even more because those are damn expensive tires
@@FlatTireFarmHomesteadingAlaska if you take care of the tires, really really really take care of the tires can’t you make them last longer?
1 Corinthians 15:22-24
King James Version
22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.
24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. Gods blessings over you .
