This is a major project but not the biggest we have done in Norway. I rank the Troll platform as a bigger achievement. This beast of a platform is 472 meters from top to bottom. Right now 330 meters of it submerged. When they towed it out it had a draft of 209 meters. They got it into position and filled in the ballast. The platform then sunk 30 meters into the seabed and will remain there for at least 70 years. It is the biggest man made object ever to be moved across the surface of the earth. In addition to the platform it was also a big task to build gas pipelines to shore. The condition on the coast line is very hard so they built a tunnel 1 kilometer out into the sea and on fairly deep water. Then they drilled a hole in the seabed to build the pipeline through the tunnel and ashore. Combined the platform and the pipeline they are probably the biggest project ever completed in Norway.😊
Being the only, it is also the smallest, the shortest, the longest, the safest, the riskiest … … you get the idea. Any superlative, whether positive or negative, is correct.
All this is fake. The tunnel hasn't been approved yet. And "Hurtigruten", the largest ship company that travel the coast, has said they will not use the tunnel. Hence this project is still in the blue. This video is just bad research.
It`s a great and fascinating project. And the Norwegians have so much experiance to construct and build tunnels. Good luck and success !
